Canon A420 Powershot Problems?
Everytime I turn my camera on, it says change the batteries. When i put new batteries in, it last like 3 minutes and then it says change batteries. I dont know why is dies this quick.
Are you still using alkaline batteries? If so, alkaline batteries just don't have the power for more than a few pics in a digital camera. Even straight out of the package, some may even have problems just powering startup of the camera. Digital cameras for the most part should only be used with rechargeable NiMH batteries. Most retailers sell these for around $7 for a package of four (about $15-19 for the batteries with charger). Keep in mind they'll save you big bucks in the long run over alkalines, AND they'll last for at least 100 pictures per charge (and probably many many more). You'll be very pleased with their performance, and may slap yourself for not buying them sooner. When at the store, look on the package for a power rating of at least 2500 mah.

the lens cover on my canon powershot camera won't open when i turn it on.?
it's a powershot A420. when i turn it on i get an error message that says "lens error, restart camera" and then it shuts off.any help would be greatly appreciated.
I know this is pretty obvious, but have you checked the batteries? My husband had a camera that used not only regular AA batteries, but used flat watch type batteries also. I am wondering if your camera is the same. Other than that, the only thing that I can think of is that the lens cover has gotten bent in some way and can't open properly.
If so, have it cleaned.
I have a digital ixus that has a cover that sometimes gets stuck halfway open, and it does that since I used it in sandy conditions.
I had that happen once and after 10 tries it finally opened.
Don't give up.....
If that don't work.. send it to the company for repairs if it's still
under warranty.. if not you can replace it for around $115
with the newer model the Canon A460
