I have purchased Cannon Powershot A470 Digicam few months back. I am not able to use my Cannon powershot A470 camera as a webcam? Anybody can help me?

That would be because it is a photographic camera. It is not designed to be a webcam, nor is it capable of functioning in the way a web cam does. If it was sold to you as a webcam, take it back and speak to the person who sold it to you. However, I am almost positive that it is not possible to use this camera as a webcam.

no you can't , i'm one hundred ( 100 ) percent sure that you can't do this. Unfortunately, this isn't a feature that most/all canon cameras have. The cameras are meant to shoot outside or indoors, and aren't necessarily built to be used as webcams. However, you can get very cheap webcams these days, all over the place. walmart, targer, etc. The list goes on, you can get them anywhere here is a link that you can purchase one from :

that is from walmart.com, you can purchase it, and have it shipped to a local walmart in your area. it has a built in microphone and seems like a good value.

How can create a folder in my Canon Powershot A470 because i cant seem to find the folder that i created?

I browse the unit then go to the menu, then i went to create folder but no folder is shown and I'm a bit confused about the create folder by date. How can I create a folder in my digicam

For XP click on my computer, click on my documents, click on my pictures, click on file from top menu, come down new folder then you can name it.

Vista same way except click my computer, pictures, organize, new folder.

Without formating or erasing all, they disappeared. Is there a way to get these pics back somehow? My girlfriend is just distraught. Please help!

It could either be that the little switch on the side of your memory card is set to lock.l In which case, the cam wont be able to do anything with the pictures.
If thats not the case, then i do believe your fucked. Sorry.

What does the "Custom Color" setting on the Canon Powershot a470 mean? Does it mean I can make my pictures pink or something? Please tell me what and how I can use this setting!

The custom color setting on this camera means that you can set the camera for normal contrast, high contrast, brilliant colors, etc. This does not allow you to make your camera's pink or something.
You need to read your instruction book for this camera. There's lots of interesting information there including the answer to your question.

I just got this camera and I read on the net that there's a face recognition mode. However, I can't use it. How to activate it please? thaaanx..:D :D

it should automatically find it with out having to mess with anything but you can also activate it by holding the picture taking button halfway down and it should have a green square where the what you mainly want the picture to be about should be, but again, the face recognition should be an automatic feature.

thinking about purchasing, is this a good choice? i was looking at a canon sd1100 also but that one is almost double in price.

Pay just a little bit more and get the A590 IS with image stabilization.

Everybody has been there! It doesn't matter which camera you've got, this bit rarely goes well. Or it goes well a few times and then suddenly doesn't. Most people give up and get a card reader. They're quite cheap. I waved the white flag years ago and I've got a little DaneElec card reader sat in front of me.

If you do manage to crack the problem, come back to this section of Yahoo! answers. You'll be needed about once every ten minutes.
