How do i fix my Canon PowerShot A510 digital camera?
When i turn on the Canon PowerShot A510 digital camera the blue Canon screen appears and makes a long humming noise. If you hit one click the camera turns off. thats it it goes black

I get the idea that you have borrowed this camera from someone and are concerned about returning it to them broken. Your question may be less about how to fix the camera than how to save a relationship.
I checked and it looks like the A510 is no longer being sold. Believe me, whoever owns this camera would probably not want another 3.2 mp digital anyway, but I'll bet you can find an exact replacement, for cheap, on e-bay. Another option would be to buy a comparable new camera for the owner. I see that the Canon A520 looks about the same, costs around $150, and moves the owner up to 5 mp. However, I think you only owe the owner the value of his/her camera, which is what they are selling for on e-bay.
Another consideration is that cameras do fail on their own and nothing lasts forever. I lent a chainsaw to a friend once and he returned it saying it quit working while he was using it. It worked for him initially, then it broke. He never offered to help replace it, he just assumed that it would have broken whether he was using it or whether I was using it. He could have been right, but I resented the fact that he didn't offer something for returning my property broken. Would I have taken anything from him in this case? NO. But the gesture would have made our friendship stronger. As it was, I always felt less close, less comfortable with my friend and I would have been very reluctant to ever loan him anything again. Unfortunately, he has passed away and our relationship is now over.

Why am I not able to get my Canon PowerShot A510 digital camera to work w/my Dell desktop computer?
I am running Windows 2000 Professional. I downloaded the software from disk supplied by Canon. I restart my computer & remove the disk, per instructions. I then connect the camera to the computer, turn it on, then I'm taken on a round-n-round journey to install the driver & new hardward. I'm able to install the camera thru the Control Panel. I just can't seem to get my computer & camera to get along & work together! Help!
Canon Powershot a510 keeps telling me to charge batteries, but they are brand new?
Hi, I put in two perfectly charged aa alkaline batteries into my camera, but it just tells me to charge/change the batteries and shuts off. What am I doing wrong?
Look in your manual for the specs.
If you use incompatible batteries your camera won't work (it'll keep shutting off to prevent damage)

From experience, you should be able to use the SDHC as well as I pretty much only use SDHC in all my electronics, even with those that specifically don't support SDHC and I never had a problem.
would not try this because a power failure might happen because
it might not see the card and dammange your camcord if it dosent fit into the cam corder don't jam it in the cam corder I recomend geting
a new card for the new cam corder at Best Buy or Ebay were I get all
my cheap things.BOTTOM LINE: I would not recomend it talk to Best Buy.

My Canon Powershot A510 isnt working, what to do?
So, the lens part is only half out and whenever I try to turn it on, it beeps about 5 or 6 times and says E18 on the bottom lefthand part of the screen, what to do?
The E18 message is a lens error, which is usually (but not always) caused by mishandling (restricting the extension of the lens).
The A510 is an old, outdated model (and only 3.1MP) and was released around 3 1/2 years ago. You'd be better off just buying a brand new camera.

My Canon Powershot A510 takes sooooo long between shots!?
This camera, which I like very much, has begun taking about 15 seconds between shots. This happens without the flash being used.
It is very annoying to wait, wait, wait for it to be ready to shoot again, particularly at the dolphin show (for example) or something where I want to shoot again soon!
Does it need repair? If so, how much and what kind?
Has this been happening since you bought the camera?
The specs say that your camera can shoot a 2.3 fps, 12 images.

i have a canon powershot a510 digital camera, but i dont have the software, does anyone know where i can get the software online for free? i looked at the canon site, but i dont think they have it any help would be great
I have an A310 that also did not come with any software or manual.
The manual is available as pdf file from the Canon site.
I didn't need any software, but I had to buy a memory card & card reader. The card reader plugs into the usb port, and that should automatically be detected. that will pop up a window asking you where to save your pics.

i own a canon powershot A510 and i have never had any problems with it at all but all of a sudden it just wont turn on the lens is stuck out half way and it has new batteries in it and the light at the top will just flicker for a few seconds and then just do nothing no light on the screen comes on either
I have the same camera, keep pressing the on/off
button... eventually it will go back in and then notice that
part of the black lens cover is missing. (bottom corner/top corner)

If you got it less than a year ago contact Canon for warranty repair. If it's more than 1 year old, consider buying a new camera, it will probably cost $100 to fix it.
