Canon PowerShot A570 IS Digital Camera

The A570 IS Digital Camera lets you capture life's special moments, even when the kids won't sit still or the light is less than ideal! 7 ...

PowerShot A570?

On the Canon PowerShot A570, right below the lens and a little to the left. there is a button, I have read the manual a million times, and cannot find out what this does, what does it do?

It's the ring release button. It unlocks the ring around the lens so you can attach optional conversion lenses onto it.

That camera has a removable bezel around the lens, but for the life of me I cannot remember WHY you would want to remove it. Seems like it was maybe for some kind of slide duplicator device to mount on there or something. If you push that button, you will probably be able to screw off, or somehow release the bezel at the rear of the lens.

Steve

you should have read it one million times plus one more

page 103, 104, 105 of the manual !!!!!!!!!!!

I looked and can see the button. Have you tried using it?

Here is a good link to the features of your camera

Push that button, take the ring off and put a different lense on it. If you don't have another lense, I'd just leave it alone.

How can I take a great shot of lightning with a canon powershot A570 IS?

I got a canon powershot A570 IS and I need to know how to take a good lightning shot.
Is it possible to take a quality shot with my current camera?

1. Find a place to put the camera. If you don't have a tripod, put on top of a table or something else outdoors that isn't moving.
2. This camera takes pictures up to 15 seconds long. Take a picture at ISO 80 and 15 seconds and see how it comes out. Are you doing this during the day or night? At night, you should be good. During the day, this might come out too bright so shorten the time.
3. Just keep taking pictures over and over facing the lighning until you get lucky.
That's the "brute force" way. The other way is to put it on a ISO or 200 and stand ready to take the picture when you see a lightning bolt.

You have to be lucky. You'd be better off with a Canon Rebel.

I tried getting fireworks pictures with that camera using the night scene setting but it didn't work. I did take some close ups of a firepit with night scene and they turned out good.

How to take a good photos with Canon Powershot A570 IS ?

Hi,
I recently bought Canon A570 IS. I just dont know how to make a good picture in manual mode. All of them are so dark! When i doing in auto mode they looks cool but not as good as i seen on flickr when peoples doing a shot without flash light and they looks good.
And also... do i need to use zoom for macro mode ? Or just click the macro button ?
Thanks!

Let's go through you questions one at a time:
1) Manual mode
ANSWER: Manual mode without flash isn't as simple as just turning it to manual mode and shooting away. In manual mode, you must manually set the aperture and shutter speed. To do this
*Put the switch to M
*Push the lightning bolt button to turn off the flash
*Along the bottom, you get a shutter speed and aperture
*Adjust one variable, then push the +/- button to adjust the other variable.
* To adjust, just push ring on each side of "Func Set" button.
*The screen will show the effects of changing each variable, as long as your flash is off. When the screen is what you want, you can take a photo. It may be dark or black if you're settings will give you a dark photo.
* Use a tripod for a really slow speed or you'll get a blurry photo.

2) Macro mode:
ANSWER: Macro mode is done by pushing the flower button on the back. You can get closer if you are at the widest lens setting, which is what you should use for macro. Push the release to focus.

if your taking pics in manual mode then you need to know how to set your shutter speed and appature size also if possible your iso setting.
slow shutter + big appature = brighter picture
throw in the higher iso speed (film speed although virtual)setting and you can work in lower lighting levels with faster shutter speed

if you want to take macro pics just click the macro button

Try to take photos in manual mode and then take the same photos again in auto mode. Compare them and I think you'll find that the ones taken in auto mode come out much better than those in manual mode. I always used auto mode on my Canon Powershot s3is and they come out great in every condition except low light.

the manual tells you all the details for your questions

One thing you must learn is how to set your ISO setting. Remember on a cloudy dark day you'll want more sensitivity, so increase ISO to around 320 or 400. On a bright sunny day set your ISO to your lowest setting like 80(if you have) or 100.
But first as one answerer mentioned leave all on auto, until you learn your camera better.

How do you upload pictures from a Canon powershot A570 to a computer?

My computer does not detect the device. I have installed Zoom Browser EX and Camera window. Please help!

Check your computer's USB drivers. Do other USB devices like a USB Drive or web cam work in your computer? If they don't, its probably a problem with your USB port / drivers.

Put the CD back in the drive. If there's a menu option to install drivers, do it. If not, go to Control Panel, Scanners and Cameras, click on Add Imaging Device, follow the prompts. When Windows asks where the drivers, browse to the CD drive and find the driver folder for your camera model. OR you could read the manual that came with your camera. You might find a lot of OTHER useful information...

How do you upload pictures from a Canon powershot a570 to a mac?

I plug it in but no device is detected...

what should I do?

Is the camera turned on when you plug it in?

If yes, can you see the camera in Finder?

If no, try connecting the camera into another computer to see if it works there.

If you have iPhoto, it should find the camera as soon as you connect it, if the camera is on.

Check that your Mac has its auto detect feature turned on ... Mac is supposed to "see" any graphics device.

Turn off your camera.

Plug in the camera and the computer.

Launch iPhoto.

Turn on your camera.

You should now see a dialogue box to download your photos.

OK? Working?

My canon powershot A570 IS depletes batteries immediately?

I just used some Lithium energizer batteries and they lasted for weeks. Now every time I replace it with new batteries, it depletes them immediately and shuts down. New batteries always say "low battery" and then shuts down. Does anyone know why this is happening? Thanks

i think there are two reasons
1. maybe the battery not good conditions
2.maybe the camera creepage

I can't decide whether to buy a Canon SD1000 or the Canon Powershot A570 IS. Which is the better camera?

Also, is the format of the video recorded on these cameras able to be played on an Ipod? Is there really a difference between the factor that only one of these cameras has optical image stabilization? Can you tell a big enough difference with or without it?

Image stabilization on the A570 IS is pretty handy, but if I were you I'd look into the SD800IS, you lose a couple megapixels (that you probably wouldn't use) but gain image stabilization and a wide angle lens (useful for crowded indoor shots).
Optical Image stabilization makes a huge difference for the shot on the go, low light conditions, and in general it makes up for the natural shakiness of the human hand. You can tell there's a notable difference, the Canon IS line has been exeptional in their image stabilization.
Both the SD800IS and SD1000 save to video formats which can be viewed on an IPOD. I believe the A570 IS can but don't know, push comes to shove, you'd just have to buy or download a converter

Can I use a PNY 4 gig SDHC memory card with the Canon PowerShot A570 IS Digital Camera?

I was wanting to buy a regular 2 gig SD card for my new camera, but found a 4 gig SDHC card for just 10 bucks more. I have heard there are some compatability issues with SDHC card. Will I have a problem with this card for my camera?

According to the Canon website, the A570 IS supports the SD, SDHC, and MMC memory card standards.

SD: Secure Digital standard card supports capacities up to 2 GB.

SDHC: Secure Digital High Capacity currently supports capacities up to 32 GB.

MMC: MultiMedia Card supports capacities up to 1 GB.

If the PNY card doesn't work, it's because it's off from the standard somehow. But the Canon A570 IS will accept an SDHC card and is supposed to work with it.

Where can I buy a Canon Powershot A570 in Metro Manila, Philippines?

I'm having a hard time finding it online, Brand new or second hand is ok- thanks in advance!

What are some of the best/expensive swivel + bounce head slave flash compatible with the canon powershot A570?

I need a slave flash that will have a bounce head while attached to the camera by tripod slave flash adaptor that will also be able to use diffusers. This must also be able to swivel and should have multiple power levels. I would like to get one with a quick recycle time. at the moment i cant find many and mostly need as may suggestions as possible.

What you want to do is hilarious--you're asking for a pro-level flash for a point and shoot camera.

Still, I think I know what you want--try the Phoenix Digital Slave Flash for Analog & Digital Cameras.

If you go to http://www.porters.com , it is item 120457.

You'll probably have to look for a third party diffuser.
