Is the Canon PowerShot A630 good in low light or during sports?
Is the Canon PowerShot A630 good in low light or during sports? And do cameras such as Sony Cyber-shot DSC-N2 or Canon PowerShot SD900 compare to the A630 in the same situations?
Well no point and shoot excel in low lighting situations. It is good for a point and shoot camera which isn't saying a lot.

the guide should answer your questions
I need to buy a digital camera. which is better Canon Powershot A630 or Kodak Easyshare C875. Any info helps!
I want to take nice pictures but Im not into it hardcore. I have come down to choosing between the Kodak Easyshare C875 and the Canon powershot A630. Any information that can help me choose either one of these would be great, or if someone has any advice on me getting another digital camera in the price range of 175-275 would be helpful as well. Thanks!
You have done your homework, because you have found two very comparable and excellent cameras. To me, the tiebreaker would be the lack of an optical viewfinder on the Kodak. I would buy the Canon. Here's my speech on that topic:
I lament the passing of the optical viewfinder and I would choose almost any camera with an optical viewfinder over one that only has an LCD viewfinder. Why?
1. You never have the option of turning off the LCD and these things eat batteries for lunch and spit them out. Why do away with the option of a viewfinder that has zero electrical drain?
2. It can be difficult to see the image on an LCD in bright sunlight, even if they are "new and improved."
3. You have to hold an LCD viewer out at some distance in front of your face. This is more conspicuous than I prefer to be all the time.
4. The need to hold a camera at arms length will introduce some shake. I like the idea of stabilizing a camera against my face when I am taking a picture. This is especially important with a longer zoom lens. No wonder "image stablization" or "vibration reduction" is necessary with these cameras. Not that there's anything WRONG with IS or VR, but it is really a requirement with LCD viewfinders and telephoto lenses.
5. Using the LCD to view photos after you've taken them slows down the camera quite a bit. You can't shut of the LCD monitor and still take pictures if you don't have an optical viewfinder.
Anyway, I've owned a Canon powershot for 3 years now, I had to have the lenses covers repaired, (under warranty) I can tell you that there customer service is exceptional.
As far as picture quality, every picture I've taken has been crystal clear, with brilliant colors.
I'd recommend the canon any day.
How do you take good pictures in low lighting with a canon powershot a630?
I want to take pictures of my car in parking lots at night, and I cant figure out how to do it without the pictures being blurry. I know it has something to do with the aperture priority or the shutter speed, but i cant find the right setting. Any help?
your asking a lot from your a630 with low light shooting. you will definitely need a tripod or steady surface to rest the camera on...handheld is a blur every time. keep the zoom wide (aka no zoom) , shutter speed slow and apeture wide (aka f2.8) in manual mode or try one of the auto night or apeture priority modes.
An easy solution is to mount the camera on a tripod. Set your ISO to the lowest (80) to prevent or limit noise (by pressing the FUNC./SET button, select your ISO, then press the same button again). But, you cannot do this in Auto. You must first turn the mode dial to either P, Av, Tv or M.
You can turn the mode dial to P (program auto exposure). The camera will select the correct aperture and shutter speed. It's much like auto, but you get to select your ISO etc.
Or you can select your Aperture by using Av (Aperture Priority) and the camera will set the correct shutter speed (which may be a few seconds or longer, depending on how wide open the aperture is and how much light there is).
You can also use Tv (shutter priority) where you set the shutter speed and the camera chooses the aperture.
Or, using M (manual) allows you to set your preferred shutter speed AND aperture.
You can change the ISO (when in shooting mode) in all of the four functions above.
Make sure the flash is turned off and set the delay timer to 2 or 10 seconds to prevent camera movement during the exposure.
Don't ever use Auto...because it will automatically apply a high ISO which will only bring lots of noise to your images.
please read your User Guide...especially pages 43-46
good luck...
Is there a way to restore pictures on the Canon PowerShot A630 Camera???
Is there a way to restore pictures on the Canon PowerShot A630 Camera??? Somehow a picture I reallllllyyyy want got deleted off my camera!! PLEASE HELP!
There's a lot of software for rescuing lost photos. A lot of it is shareware so you can see if it will find the photos before you pay for it.

How do I change it to slow syncro on my canon powershot a630?
The manual wasn't clear on this, and I tried searching for it on the menu and couldn't find it.
Can you give me step by step instructions as though i were 12 years old? haha
read
the
question
dummy.
the
manual
isn't
clear.
1. The slow synchro cannot be enabled/disabled in the "Auto" mode. Also, it makes no sense in the Tv (Time Value) and M (Manual) modes. So the mode selector on the top of the camera should be in "P" (Program) or "Av" (Aperture Value). Forget about the "C".
So... please move the mode selector weel to the "P" position.
2. Ensure you are in the shot mode (move the switch from the play icon to the camera icon).
3. Press the Menu button.
4. Press the down arrow 4 times, to select the "Slow Synchro" line.
5. Move to left, to select the "Off" option.
Done. You're the man!
I have the A640... almost the same camera. Also I have the waterproof case and the lens adapter with a polarizer. I love this stuff!

How do you operate the color accent on the canon powershot A630?
I can get to it on the camera but everytime I pick out the color I then take a picture and everything is in color not just my main color...sorry if I confuse you its hard to explain =P
'My Colours' set to OFF?
In Colour Accent Mode you can use the ↑↓ buttons to specify
the range of colours that are retained.
-5...only takes the colour you want to retain
+5...also takes colours close to the one you want to retain.
I'm thinking of asking for a Canon PowerShot A630 for Christmas. I have a few basic questions?
-does the video mode have sound? (not that important)
-does the screen swivel around? (again not that important)
-does it take good indoor shots? (pretty important)
-it the shutter lag bad? (important)
basically, is it a good buy for its price?
http://shopping.yahoo.com check out this page do a search for the camera it will have reviews of it. It seemed to not have too bad of shutter lag.
Is the CANON POWERSHOT A630 8 MP DIGITAL CAMERA a good camera to use to take pictures of your self?
Is this going to be a good camera to buy off of ebay, because I got on off there before, and it was completely bad.So will someone tell me if I can trust this camera or not. I want to know if it will take good pictures of me, when it's close to my face and the flash won't make me look white, and i want to know if it is good to use when i want to do some photography.
The A630 is a very good camera...
Now, as far as the flash goes...any digital camera is going to white your face out if you take a photo very close to the camera. Your best option is to either avoid using the flash by making sure there is plenty of available light...or not taking a photo too close to the camera (you can use the timer delay function). You can also adjust the strength of the flash in the manual options if you have to.
And of course it will be ok if you 'want to do some photography'...it IS a camera, after all...
How do you take a delayed picture with a Canon Powershot A630?? So u can be in the pic..?
Use the self timer and a tripod or other steady surface to hold your camera.
THERE_IS_NO_TIMER_ICON_ON_THE A630, so you have to use the menu system.
Press "FUNC" to get the menu display.
Toggle down to the third icon, which is a rectangle, for the "Drive Mode."
Toggle to the right until you reach the delay that you want to use.
You can choose 10 seconds, 2 seconds, or Custom delay.
Press the "FUNC" button again to confirm your desired delay.
When the delay that you want is displayed, set up your picture, push the shutter button and then the red-eye reduction lamp will blink once per second until the picture is taken.
You cancel the self-timer by going through the same series of actions, but choose the single-frame (rectangle) all the way to the left on the menu bar.
Is the Canon Powershot a630 a good camera?
I was wondering how everyone feels about the Canon Powershot a630. I've been interested in it since January, when my camera broke. I'm probably going to purchase one tomorrow. How is the resolution? Is it clear or fuzzy? Etc., etc.
The A630 is an excellent camera and the resolution rivals cameras costing a lot more money.
I own a few Nikon DSLR's and I'd buy the Canon Powershot A630 or A640 for myself. These cameras have the larger sensor (1/1.8" or 5.2 mm x 7.2 mm) that is nearly double the sensor size you find in many point and shoot cameras and this translates into better image quality. They allow fully automatic use or total user control and offer several stages in between. The only significant difference between these cameras is that the A630 is 8 MP and the A640 is 10 MP.
If you're going to spend up to $200, look at a Canon Powershot A630. My son has had his A620 for over a year (May 2006) and we both like it. My brother has had his A630 for over a year and it's a very nice camera, also. You can get it at B&H Photo (available through Yahoo! Shopping) for $184.
If you can go to $300, look at the 10 MP Canon Powershot A640. This is an excellent camera. It sells for $260 and you can add a very nice memory card for under $40. The images from the A640 compare VERY favorably with the images from a Canon G7, which costs about twice as much.
For either camera, buy a 1 or 2 GB Sandisk Ultra II or Extreme III card. You will NEED the increased capacity and write speed to fully realize the benefits of your camera. The Ultra II would be excellent, but if you are really into video, you might prefer the faster Extreme III. These cards cost from about $25-45 at B&H and several other outlets.
