Canon PowerShot A650 IS

www.notecrew.com - Performance issues aside, the Canon PowerShot A650 IS combines large, good-looking photos and a generous feature set into a ...

Which is a wiser choice the Panasonic DMCFX100K or the Canon Powershot A650 IS?

I am mostly a D-SLR user and I want to buy a ... more compact digital camera that is still as versatile yet not too expensive. Please try to compare between my two candidates: the Panasonic DMCFX100K and the Canon Powershot A650 IS. (Unless you have a CLEARLY better choice.)

Both have larger sensors than most P&S cameras. The Canon edges out the Panasonic in the area of optical zoom, but is behind the Panasonic when it comes to using state of the art Li-ion batteries.

Otherwise they are both fine cameras ... both have excellent lenses (Leica ... on the Panasonic and Canon on the Canon)

okay my parents have the canon i like it but it is just too big my sister has the Panasonic its a whole lot better but if your looking for something more compact but still takes great pictures i would go with the canon sd-750 or sd-1000 both great cameras my sd-750 fell out of my pocket at a gas station and i guess i ran over it so now i have the sd-1000 no difference both great cameras but the sd-750 has a massive screen.

which do you think has a better performance CANON POWERSHOT S3 IS or POWERSHOT A650 IS?

which is better to buy?

the s3 has more features
better pictures
and better performance

In my opinion it's better to look at the Canon A630. In case of the Powershot A650 you must pay extra money for useless 12 mega pixels. As for the Canon S3 IS and big zoom, pay attention to the Canon SX100 with the same as S3 IS 1/2.5 inch sensor and 10x zoom lens. For more details be my guest at this article: Canon SX100 IS as a Powershot S5 IS killer -- http://fototramp.blogspot.com/2007/11/canon-sx100-is-as-powershot-s5-is.html

i have canon a650 and i can say that it is really wonderful digital camera
i think that it would be better to buy canon a650

Which non-Canon flash units will fit my Canon A650 IS PowerShot and work properly?

The optional Canon flash unit for my powershot is quite $$$$$. Are there any flashes by reputable manufactures that are synced correctly and that wont break me?

Since your A650 IS has no hot-shoe, no external flash unit can be used with it.

http://www.dpreview.com/reviews/compare_post.asp?method=sidebyside&cameras=canon_a650is&show=all

It is rare that a P&S camera costing less than about $300 has a hotshoe to attache an external flash. When they do, they are dedicated to flash units designed for the brand of the camera ... in the case of Canon's, if the trigger voltage is over 6v, you run the risk of frying your cameras electronics In the age of digital cameras, one is cautioned to avoid buying none-OEM flash units without doing a lot of research.

which camera is better the canon powershot G9 or the powershot A650 IS?

These are the biggest differences between these so similar cameras:

G9: has external flash hot-shoe, bigger and better resolution LCD, uses LiIon battery, can shoot in RAW.
A650: external flash cannot be used, LCD is smaller and lower res but can tilt and twist, runs on 4 AA batteries, cannot shoot in uncompressed format (but unofficial firmware - CHDK allows RAW).

You'll likely need to step up to the DSLRs to find a better camera than these two. So it's likely you'll have to spend $100 more to find such camera.

In my opinion, the powershot G9 has always been the best in compact cameras. Although they have similar specs such as the same megapixels, the G9 enables raw shooting and more manual controls.

Canon PowerShot A650 and A720 digital camera?

If you are asking between the two, I’d go with the A720.
There is a service advisory out for the A650 IS
It may leak light in from the back,

...And the question would be? :S

Yes!

Okay, so there is a service advisory about the A650. You don't even own it yet, so check the link and don't buy one with the serial numbers specified. It is MUCH better than the A720. Mostly, the sensor is twice as big, which makes for better image quality. If the LCD isn't a light-leaker (which YOURS will not be), it is very helpful to have that tilt-swivel features. In spite of the error on dpreview.com, the A650 DOES have aperture and shutter priority modes as well as a manual mode. The A720 lacks aperture and shutter priority modes.

in my opinion its better to buy CANON A650, because it has really better options than a720

What is the average price for Canon a650 powershot?

Does anyone know the best Settings for Tv on a canon powershot A650 IS?

Every time I shoot a photo it goes very dark
I have a canon PowerShot A650 and when i go on Tv mode it goes dark
for example here's one description of a photo I took and went dark on me.

1/2000
F4.0
+2/3
ISO 80

I don't even really know what these things mean. I'm a fan of photography unfortunately I know nothing
So if any of you know anything and let me know, thanks so much.

The numbers are
1/2000 - shutter speed in seconds
f4.0 - lens aperture setting. In TV mode, you set the shutter speed and the camera sets the aperture. This may have been the maximum at the focal length you were using.
+2/3 - exposure compensation. You are asking the camera to overexpose by 2/3 of a stop.
ISO 80 - sensor sensitivity.

TV (Time Value) mode lets you set the shutter speed. 1/2000th may have been too fast for the conditions. Either decrease the shutter speed (what did you need 1/2000th for?) or up the ISO. Your camera should be signaling you that the exposure is too dark.

Does anyone have the Canon Powershot A650?

I'm pretty sure I'm going to buy it, but I'd like to hear about your experiences.

This camera fits my budget and has all the features I want.

Thanks for your responses! =)

This camera has a lot of features only found in more expensive cameras ... it has one of the largest senors found in compact digital cameras as well as a good high pixel count and has both IS and a viewfinder .. excellent for handholding shots in low light

which is camera is better?the canon powershot s5is or the canon powershot a650?

I have the older version of the S5IS, I have the S2IS. It takes better pictures than my more compact SD800IS.

With my experience, I'd go with the S5, but ultimately, it's up to you. I've never seen the a650, but from the pictures, it looks like a smaller camera than the S5. And lighter (one of my problems with the S2 is that it's bulky and gets heavy after a day of carrying it around).

Canon makes a great camera, and either way you will get some awesome pictures. Personally, I can't wait until something happens to my S2 so I can replace it with the S5 (Best Buy warranty...)

Canon Powershot A650 IS or SD850 IS?

Which of these cameras is better? Does anyone have experience with either camera? I will be using it for photographs as well as video...

Thanks!

Image quality on the A650-IS is probably better, because of the larger sensor, but I have to admit that the SD850-IS blew me away when I actually took a few snaps to view on my own computer. I've seen A620/630/640 images in person and they are great, but without the "IS" it is hard to really compare them to the SD850 WITH "IS." I would assume that the "IS" would take the A650 to the next quantum leap in image quality, making it better than the SD850-IS.

If you want to really have complete control over your exposures (which you may sometimes...), the A650-IS is in a whole different class than the SD850-IS.

If you want a really cool camera that you can stick in your pocket without even making a bulge, the SD850-IS is the better choice.

I've got a few cameras, including an SD900 as well as a Nikon CoolPix 5400, which is about the same size as the A650-IS. I have had the 5400 for a while, but I bought the SD900 because the 5400 is just too big to be considered pocket-sized. Maybe that would be a factor for you as well.
