How do i access the "color accent" mode on my PowerShot A700 camera?

i know that its under the modes switch but i do not know which one

Color Accent

This is described in the Shooting section of your advanced manual under "Changing Colors." This is a listing of the menu steps, but you might make out better looking in your manual at the pictures of the icons that go with these steps.

FUNC.Menu > Auto > Kids & Pets > [MENU] button > Color Accent > [FUNC SET] button > [DISP] button. Aim the camera so that the color you wish to retain remains in the center of the LCD monitor and press the <- button. (left arrow button) Press [DISP] to complete the setting and then shoot.

It says, "The specified color accent is retained even if the camera's power is turned off," and I don't know how to cancel it as I have not messed with this feature yet. Good luck!

Can I use disposable lithium batteries in a Canon Powershot A540 or A700 digital camera?

I am interested in buying a Canon Powershot A540 or A700 particularly because they take AA batteries. The official specifications note the they can use standard alkaline and NiMH batteries but I am particularly interested in using disposable lithium batteries (not rechargable ones).

Will these models work with AA disposable lithiums without damaging the units?

yes u can , but they are very costly, i reccomend you buy some high capacity rechargeable batteries, go on ebay and type in 2700mah, you will see a vast quantity of different brands, they are all ultra high quality and it doesn't matter on the brand, i also reccomend u type in to ebay sprint 15, that is a 15min charger and is cheap on ebay but expensive everywhere else, that should give you a good power supply

Can the focus lamp on the Canon Powershot A700 be turned off?

I find it is very bright for the subject of the photo, and because of this I tend to use my older camera which does not have as many megapixels, or as high a zoom.
I wonder if there is any way to turn it off, I have tried covering the light and it does not seem to have affected the photo quality in any way, it is just awkward to do this with every photo.

Yes, I just checked on mine and you can turn it off by pressing the menu button and under the camera settings you will see a selection for the AF-assist beam, go to it and switch to the off setting.

Hi,
I'm going to be visiting Malaysia & Singapore soon and wanted to know the street prices of Digital cameras - Nikon Coolpix L1, L2, Canon Powershot A700 or anything similar as available in Malaysia and Singapore.
Would the warranty be applicable in any other countries if I buy there?
Trying to guage whether it would be beneficial to buy it there rather than in India..

I'm not very sure about the prices though,but I do have many Indian friends who have their relatives buying back eletronic items like cameras in Singapore to India. They must have their reasons I guess.

There are a few places you can start your shopping in Singapore tho':

1) Funan Shopping Centre :-
Mainly computers,but the major camera labels have their servicing centre there, like Canon. Prices are usually fixed but reasonably market-priced. You would hardly bump into a cunning merchant here.

2) Sim Lim Square :-
You are required to be a little more street smart when shopping here. That's all I have to say. Compare prices as you go before you make your purchases.
If luck is on your side,you could get what you desire at a steal.

how to switch off the flash light of canon powershot a700 digital camera?

plz help me........

in the direction pad it is the top or up button double press and it will show a cross along the flash light. that is off. press it again to get to back.

one press goes to automatic flash
two presses goes to flash
three presses turns off the flash

A powershot A700 IS or A620, help me? or any suggestion from other brandnames?

Canon is a very good choice. The A710 IS has 6X optical, 7.1mp & an Image Stabilizer.
The A620 has 4X optical, 7.1 mp and no IS, has longer battery life because it uses 4 AA batteries versus only 2...and it also has the vari-angle (flip out & twist LCD) which is missing on the A710.
The A710 IS would be a good choice because it has 6X optical zoom & the image stabilizer...and it's a newer model than the A620 (which really is an excellent camera) but if you can live without the extra zoom and the image stabilizer, then get the A620. But you should also consider the new A630/A640 instead, because the A620 might be hard to find.
Either one is very good.

Looking for a good digital camera that takes AA batteries?

I've been looking around for a while for a good digital camera that I can use for an extended trip. The problem that I have with most camera is that they use proprietary batteries, so you have to recharge them and if I am in a remote area, once my battery is dead then I am screwed. So my #1 criteria is AA batteries.

My must have requirements:
- Must take AA batteries
- Not SLR (it must be portable)
- Good in low light
- 6+ Megapixels
- 3x Optical zoom or more

Nice to haves:
- Fuji or Olympus (my current camera is Fuji so I have xD cards, but this is not a must)
- Face detection
- Image stabilizer

Cameras I am looking at so far:
FujiFilm A900
Canon PowerShot A700
Canon PowerShot A570 IS
Canon PowerShot A710 IS

Any one have other suggestions, or comments on the cameras that I have listed?

I am a fan of the A710 IS and the A570 IS by Canon.

The A710 IS is really only necessary if you want the 6x zoom, but aside from that, they are basically the same camera - one of the exceptions being the A570 has the DiG!C III processor, and the A710 had DiG!C II.

I would like someone to tell me what a good 6 or higher megapixel camera with a 6x or higher optical zoom?

I want a good digital camera that is 6 megapixels or higher, small enough to fit in my pocket and has a optical zoom or 6x or higher. I have been looking at the canon powershot A700 but people keep saying that the pictures are soft and I don't what that means and if I want soft pictures. I want a camera that I can sit in the top of the Ford Center (which is a place you go to concerts in OKC) in the nose bleed section and take good pictures. The biggest the camera can be is to fit in my coat pocket to sneak it in the concerts.

Don't get carried away with mega pixels, the lens is the most important component, you do need any more than 5 mega pixel for normal use, unless you intend enlarging the pictures to wall size. The major camera makers supply the best lens, Canon, Nikon, Olympus.
