Photography (Sakar)

which model can replace Canon PowerShot A710 IS?
I really like Canon PowerShot A710 IS and try to get one, however. it has been out of stock. anybody knows the new model that could replace A710? I hope the new one could remain at least the same color quality as A710.(i was deeply impressed by the colors that the A710 takes.)
Found on amazon, but it says they only have 4 left:
http://www.amazon.com/Canon-PowerShot-Digital-Image-Stabilized-Optical/dp/B000HATNH4
It also says under it "There is a newer model of this item" click there and this is the link you will get:
http://www.amazon.com/Canon-PowerShot-A590IS-Digital-Stabilized/dp/B0011ZCDKS/ref=dp_ob_title_ce
That one is in stock, and looks to be about the same. Looks pretty inexpensive as well.
Of course it wouldn't hurt to upgrade to something better either (Such as Canon Rebel or better point and shoot.)
Opinions about digital camera Canon Powershot a710?
Does anyone have any opinions about the Canon Powershot a710? How is color quality, zoom speed, shot-to-shot time, shutter lag (one of my main concerns), and general performance? Thanx everyone!!
Here are some owners opinions for the A710

I just bought the a 570
check that one out
Here's a link showing a chart of various cameras and their shutter lag as well as the time it takes to shoot five frames. You will not see any DSLR's listed, because they have no shutter lag. If you click on the column heading, such as "One Shot," the chart will sort according to that measurement.

powershot a710 is usb separate from AV out?
I plan to buy a canon powershot a710 is.
I'd like to know if the usb cable is a standard one, or a special one mixing usb and AV connectivity.
(I bought a Nicon coolpix recently for my daughter and found out that it was using a custom cable to provide usb and AV connectivity. if that cable breaks and Nikon does not produce it anymore, then the camera is dead!)
So I don't want to buy the Canon Powershot 710 IS if it also uses a custom USB cable.
The A710 should come with a standard USB type A to mini B cable. The AV cables are separate, which are a phono type end (that goes into camera) to RCA cable that has video and mono audio.
memory card error canon powershot A710 IS?
Having memory error. It was not the problem of the memory card because it works on different camera. Any clue? I tried new card and still the same problem
any clue?
Photoace, I know the formating feature in camera and I have computer knowlegede. The Problem is, I could not even formating the memory at camera. It was grey out.
Did you format the card using the A710's format feature on the camera?
Most sales people do not inform you of that little detail. Nor do they tell you that you need some advanced computer skills to be successful modifying your images too.
canon powershot A710?
i just recently purchased a powershot A710 im trying to figure out how to blur out the background on a shot, i know the bigger the aperture is the smaller/shallow the DOF will be, i switched the camera setting to Av and went everywhere from f/2.8 - f/8.0 and the shot looks exactly the same
if anyone knows how to do it please let me know how

Between Canon Powershot SD800 IS and Canon Powershot A710 IS, which is better?
As a camera retailer with a stand alone camera store, I would suggest the SD800 IS. Here is why.
As a small retailer we do not have millions of $$ to line our shelves with hundreds of little cameras on strings, so we try to test all cameras we sell before offering them.
Historically the A-series cameras have a well known problem called the E18 warning (do a search for it you will see many hits.) This happens predominantly with the A-series Canons, and is not covered under warranty service guidelines.
What is E-18? This is a lens error that happens when the camera is turned on either on purpose or by accident, while the lens is obstructed. Like when the camera is laying lens-down or is inside the case and is accidentally turned on. Most cameras will enter an error mode or tell you the lens is obstructed and freeze until this problem is fixed or reset.
The lens motor is made of lots of small tiny plastic gears and parts, so when the lens is turned on, the camera does not check for obstructions, and the mechanism is damaged. This causes the camera to go into a service mode called the E18 mode (shows up as a black LCD with E18 in white in bottom corner)
Once the A- series cameras enter E18 mode they will not come out again easily and generally need to go back to Canon to get this cleared and have the lens reset or repaired. There are online fixes but I would not trust these to any degree.
Canon does not recognize this flaw as a defect and classifies it as user error and can charge you hundreds of dollars to reset your camera, even while under warranty!
For this reason the SD-800 is a better choice as these errors are much rarer on the SD series cameras.
Plus the SD-800 is much more stylish and nice looking.
Hope that helps :)
What's better: Canon Powershot A710 IS or Canon Powershot A640?
Please state objective opinion based on the quality of shots, range or effects/features, value for money and of course, specs. Thanks! :)
chinapossum, check this out.
Here's a link to explain what E 18 is and what to do about it.

I already answered you in "Cameras," so I won't duplicate my answer over here.
What is the difference between powershot and ixus series of canon digital cameras?
which do you suggest me to by of these three cameras?canon digital camera IXUS 850 IS OR digital camera IXUS 800 IS OR canon digital camera POWERSHOT A710 IS? which is better and have the best quality?which has the best rating(user rating) overall?
my answer.. IXUS and PowerShorts are 2 diffrent catagory. IXUS is ment for compact and convinient for travelling while Powershots are ment for slightly advanced function. Both of them produce good quality. What is best for you is up to your eveluation. Here's a tip, try to get the latest model.
Which camera is best? Canon powershot A710 IS or the Canon S3 IS? want great color pix. Easy to use on auto.?
I've had canon SLR's and loved them. At present I have a Konica Minolta Dimage Z5 and the color is not up to par. Very poor flash but like the style of the camera. I don't know what I want exactly except I want a Canon again. I've researched these two cameras and both have features I really like. Now I can't decide which one I should buy. I don't want to buy another camera for quite a while so I'd like to pick something that will last and deliver great color in my photos. Can anyone help me out here? Thanks!
Canon S3 IS is the more versatile camera and if it was me I would go for this one. Also since you have are coming over from the SLR camp, you will find the feel of the S3 more SLR-like and will likely find it fits better in your hands. Also the S3 is intended for more advanced photographers such as yourself who have downgraded from an SLR, or just someone who prefers many of the advanced features but not the price and inconvenience of interchanging lens like on an SLR. I also don't think the 6MP of the S3 compared to the 7MP in the A710 is much of a factor in making your decision. The extra one megapixel is hardly significant.
