Why does my Canon PowerShot G3 take blurry pictures?

When I try to take pictures, it auto-focuses while my finger is pressed down on the button resulting in the picture being blurry when it finally takes the shot.

How do I stop making it autofocus, or at least, how do I make it stop autofocusing ALL the time? It's like, every second it refocuses! I can't get it to take the kind of picture I want because it's always blurry.

Help!

The camera is hunting because it doesn't have enough light to focus with.
Not having enough light means you'll be left with a slower shutter speed.
A slower shutter speed will give you camera shake.
If you can turn on some lights, or see if you have the same problem in sunlight (you'd be surprised what a camera considers low light).

You may also look at the lens, it may need to be cleaned with a lint free cloth. If it has grime on it make sure you don't scratch the lens when your cleaning it. Most lenses are coated to an oil on water kind of look is normal.

My daughter used my camera for a movie. When I turn the camera on now, the lens does not move in and out as usual and I get a "lens" message on my top display and then the camera shuts off. In viewing troubleshooting, it says that the zoom lever might have been moved during movie mode, however, I do not know how to fix this. Please HELP

take out the batteries for awhile
then, if the camera turns on
go into menu and find reset

I'm trying to transfer pics from camera to computer but don't have the software cd... and my windows xp say it can't find software for canon powershot g3... is there a website I can go to, to download the software to get my pics on my computer....

I don't think you need software. Just use Windows Explorer to open up the camera folder and copy images to your computer.

Canon PowerShot G3 Macro Lens question?

So, I inherited a Powershot G3 from my great grandmother when she passed away. I love this camera, it takes amazing photos.
However I'd like to take some macro shots but I need a certain kind of lens for the camera.
I think I'll just get one on ebay, but I'm completely clulelss as to what *type* of lens I should get (make/model/size).
Any help would be greatly appreciated!

The G3 is a nice camera ... I take it you 1) do not have the owners manual and 2) have never owned a P&S digital camera before.

There is a symbol on the camera of a flower ... you select that and you will be able to shoot closeups ... Usually P&S cameras have only "close up" settings ... Macro has to do with shooting subjects at a 1:1 or 1:2 image to subject ratios. Macro lenses are just one of the type lenses that are available for DSLR's, not P&S cameras.

Once you get hooked on shooting digital cameras, you will eventually learn all of the things you want to do when shooting images, you may be tempted in to buying a DSLR

Canon Powershot G3 Software???

Does anyone know where I can get free canon powershot g3 software from? I have borrowed a digital camera from my university for a project, but I dont have the software and they said I could download it from the internet for free. None of the sites I have looked at have it however.

i doubt it, the voltage may or may not be compatible which then could lead to destroying your camera.

i'd recommend get the canon equivalent instead the 430 ex.

how can i get an old digital camera to work with windows vista?

I have a Canon powershot G3 and there doesnt seem to be any vista drivers for it. I dont have the orriginal disc either. I just want to be able to view the picture files.

Is ther any way to make this work?
And yes i do have SP1, it recognises that its a canon G3, but cant install the drivers on its own.

You know, if you buy a card reader and copy the image files from your memory card, you can avoid all this grief.

Pro Canon users have been using card readers for over six years ... ever since they realized that Canon cameras cannot be addressed as a "removable" drive and without the Canon drivers installed on the computer, nothing will happen

Can all Digital cameras use X133 speed Compact Flash?

I have a Canon A85 and Powershot G3 cameras (both a few years old now) and I want to buy a new Compact Flash card for them. The new cards all have X133 which I believe is their transfer speed. Will they work with my older cameras ?

Any camera that uses CF memory can use the X133 cards, but not all of them can use the speed.
