Cannon Powershot G5 Memory Card Error Message?
I have a Cannon Powershot G5 series camera. The screen now reads "Memory Card Error" anytime I turn it on. This has happened once before and I assumed it was the memory card itself, and replaced it. The new memory card lasted a few months, and now the message is appearing again. Is this a problem that has occured with other powershots? Any suggestions on a solution? I have already tried re-formatting the memory card, and the camera won't allow it. I also cannot delete or take any more pictures! Please help!
the card seems to have gotten corrupted. I'm no expert but I've read that a few things can cause this.
Do you put the card into computer? If you transfer pictures this way, do you "Safely Remove Hardware" when you take the card out? If not, this is one way the card can become corrupt.
Do you use a USB cable to your camera to transfer pictures? Again, do you "safely remove hardware" when you disconnect the USB cable? this is another way the card can become corrupt.
Also, those card readers at Photo Kiosks like at Walgreens, Target, Walmart can corrupt cards. You should never use those. You should always put your pictures on a disk, or upload the photos on the web to have prints developed.
I've heard horror stories so I try and be careful with my storage media, including those thumb drives. Always "safely remove" your hardware. good luck.
How much is the store price of a Canon Powershot G5 digital camera?
The G5 is a pretty old camera ... In 2003 it was a $1000 camera .. in todays market used expect to pay about $75 to $100 for a good used one.

However, Canon is up to the G9 now so I don't know if you'll find anyone selling one new.
Changing shutter speed on Canon Powershot G5?
Could someone please tell me how to change the shutter speed on my camera. I really need help. Thanks.
Fortunately for you, quojoamp is totally wrong. Your camera has the following Exposure Modes: Auto, Program, Tv (Shutter Preferred), Av (Aperture Preferred), Manual and a couple of Custom settings.
In Manual Mode you can set both shutter and aperture. In Av, Aperture Preferred, you set the aperture (aka f-stop) and the camera sets the shutter speed. In Tv, Shutter Preferred, you set the shutter speed and the camera sets the f-stop.
If you'd like some information on night photography just email me.
My Canon Powershot G5's LCD screen cracked. How can I fix it and how much will it cost?
I dont know how it broke, but it did! how much will it cost? will it be better if I buy a new cam? Ohh myyy i might die!!
if screen still works,just patch w/ clear tape.repair will be costly.you could always post & look for a dead one to switch parts with,but labor would also cost...
I was given a canon G5 powershot and the buttons on the back seem to have stoppped working....?
the camera hasnt been damaged or been exposed to water . Can any one tell me what this may be ? thanks
Unfortunately, most troubles with electronic devices are happening with water, wine, cola etc. Sorry but in my opinion you need to visit a service center.

how to format card in Canon G5 Powershot?
I have a canon G5 powershot and I have tried to instal new CF cards, I have tried different makes and different sizes from 512mb to 2 GB. As soon as the card is installed the camera runs slowly and it does not recognise the size of card. All it see is 3.5 MB which I believe is the internal memory. I can start the formatting process but the camera always shuts down before it completes. I have attempted complete restarts but no success. Has anyone managed to overcome this problem. I have at present been albe to instal the original 32mb card and a 256 fufifilm CF Thanks
go to the menu go over 1 to the tool thing scroll down and it will eventually say format memory card. (beware it erases all the pictures off of your card)
2. Look in your manual you got with it.
I am looking for an inexspensive digital camera with these festures...?
I am taking a photography course and I need an inexspensive digital camera with these features. The instructor recommended Canon PowerShot G5 or G6 both they appear to be exspensive at 500-700 dollars. I would appreciate suggestions of model that fit this criteria.
* 4 Megapixel (or higher) Sensor Resolution
* Manual Mode
* Auto Mode
* AV - Aperture Priority
* TV - Shutter Speed Priority
* Built-in Flash
* White Balance Control
* Scene Specific Exposure Mode/Compensation
Have you looked at the Canon PowerShot A620? You can find it all over the net if you want to check it out. It has all over the features you listed and can be bought for $300 or below.
Good luck!

Should I buy a Seconed-hand camera for 300$?
It's Canon PowerShot G5 plus a case, battery and a 128mb card.
In a good condition, from a guy I know.
My budget is nowhere higher than 300$ is there a better deal?
You should also check the condition of the components of the camera, not just the outside. I don't mean taking it apart...
I've heard that if you take a picture of something completely white (piece of paper, a clean wall or something) and then look closely at the resulting image, any dirt or errors on the inside components will show up.
Also, try to find out how many pictures were taken already with the camera. This info is usually saved in the "exif" information of the pictures (although I've heard it's possible to trick this). Digital cameras are said to be good for about 20,000 pictures on average and life spans of 6-10 years (depending on where and how you use it and what parts it was made of).
I'm sure there are plenty of free programs on the net that can show you the exif info.
T-ring adaptor for astrophotography?
I have a Celestron Advanced Series C8-GT telescope. I also have a Canon Powershot G5 which I would like to use for astrophotography. However, I'm having trouble finding a T-ring adaptor for my camera. Does anyone know of any suitable models?
