Can the sliding lens cover on a Canon PowerShot S50 be fixed?
I have had bad luck with Canon PowerShot cameras. I have an S50 and the sliding lens cover is broken. I also just had a sliding lens cover break on an S70. I still have the S50 and wondering if anyone knows if a person can fix this themselves. It just appears to be "off the slide." Thanks!
You bet. You can fix anything with time and money.
Canon PowerShot S50 as a webcam?
I need to know if it is in any way possible to use my Canon PowerShot S50 as a webcam. If so, how?
Someone is spreading rumors ... no it cannot. The camera is far too high quality to do that, it has an auto shutoff feature and the batteries will die after about an hour ... not a good candidate for a web cam ... spend $25 and get a real webcam you can leave on 24/7/365 if you like ... it is powered by your computer. Done.
Is a 2GB flash memory card too much for the Canon PowerShot S50? Can the camera drive that much memory?
Yeah.. it will have that much of memory. go ahead.........
picasa is a Google's photo software. It's what should've come with your camera.
It can Edit , organise and Share you picture and small video flips.
It's very easy to use and is free, just like Google
Download it free in here:

Good Luck!
powershot s50 video plzzzzzzz help!!!!!!!?
hey i have a problem w/ mai camera my camera can only hold 3 minutes!!!!!!!!!!!! is there anything else i can do to make it hold more video memory than 3 minutes plzzzzzz help
The S50 is quite an old model camera (released in 2003). It records movies at a top resolution of 320x240 @ 15 fps, which is fairly poor when compared to today's cameras which can record at a higher resolution and framerate of 640x480 @ 30 fps.
Anyway...your camera is LIMITED to 3 minute movies at a time. So, when your camera stops recording after 3 minutes, you should just press the shutter button to start recording again (making sure your memory card has adequate capacity).
If you want to record longer, or limitless length movies (dependent only by how much capacity your memory card has), as well as better quality movies, you will have to buy a new camera...
Can any one tell me where can i get Canon Powershot S50, Canon Powershot A95 in India & what'll be their price

Does the Canon PowerShot SD750 run out of battery very quickly?
I have been using the OLD Canon PowerShot S50 and am very fed up with it because the goddam battery runs out after like THIRTY MINUTES use for gods sake... thats why I got myself an extra lithium battery for that whenever I go out taking photos and unfortunately BOTH my batteries wont function normally I think I use my digital camera too much... batteries eventually die dont they? So instead of getting another ridiculously expensive cell Im gonna get a brand new camera and choosing between SD750 and SD1000. Do they run out of battery very quickly? And if I will use my camera every day will the battery wear out and die very quickly? I am far from a tech or photography person so can you help me with that? Thanks a lot guys!
30 mins after FULL CHARGE I mean
The SD750 and SD1000 are almost identical cameras (except for a few minor differences) and they use exactly the same battery.
When fully charged (which only takes around 1 hour 30 minutes) the battery will only allow up to 210 shots.
To conserve battery life, it's always a good idea to turn your LCD screen off in-between shots and don't use the flash too often or spend too much time reviewing your images because the LCD uses most of the battery power. Turning the LCD off as much as you can, will allow much more than 210 shots.
If your camera includes a viewfinder, you can use that to compose your images instead, rather than rely wholly on the LCD. This is a good option if the battery is running low and you desperately need to take more shots. Because you don't get much warning.
Now, the SD750 has no viewfinder, so you have to use the LCD to compose your images.
On the other hand, the SD1000 does have a viewfinder (which you might not use too often on a small camera like this, but it's there if you need it).
Out of those two, the SD1000 is the better option because it has the viewfinder...but for an even better one, choose one which has a viewfinder and an image stabilizer (IS).
The easiest thing to do is make sure you give the battery a top up charge when you want. It doesn't have to be fully drained. I suppose any battery has a limit to how many times it can be charged...it won't last forever. But these lithium batteries do seem to have a good life.
What's the best point 'n click compact & FAST digital camera for a photo enthusiast but not a professional?
I've long been a fan of Canon's PowerShot series. I currently have the PowerShot S50, but it's too bulky, too slow, and I don't need all the manual settings. I used to have the Digital Elph s100 and loved it. I take a lot of pictures, but don't care about manual settings.
Most important factors (in order):
1) Image quality on screen AND in print (I'm an avid Kodak EasyShare Gallery user).
2) Speed to snapping picture.
3) Compactness.
Cameras I'm considering:
- Canon PowerShot SD600
- Sony Cyber Shot DSC-T9
- Kodak Easyshare One (built-in WiFi)

What do you think I should get?
Thanks!
be sure to check out the HP low end line. A lot of them have all the features of a high end camera with slight drawbacks.
example: Macro will only focus at 4 inches or more, no real close shots... for me, no problem.
The HP warranty is super also with 24/7 free phone help.
s50, sd750, or sd1000?
Which camera should i get the nikon coolpix s50, canon powershot sd100, canon powershot sd750?
i would like user opinions if possible.....and i have read all of the reviews on all the different websites, and held every camera in the stores, and im still confused.
It's a shame that the canon product line is so confusing... higher does not mean that it's better. Actually, I think the sd800 is the best camera to get and it's under $300 right now. If you want the latest and greatest, however, you should get the sd870.
how do u change the size of the pictures taken by the camera using camera settings?
