Canon Powershot S60 camera won't upload photos?

My Powershot S60 camera has stopped uploading photos to our Mac OS X 10.49.When I connect the camera it doesn't come up in the iphoto screen any more and the yellow light does not show on the camera.
It stays in the green light viewing mode.
I've tried everything in the camera manuals and iphoto help.
Any other suggestions please.

I'm sure you've tried these basics first, so bare with me.

While camera is disconnected.
1. Restart the computer, and while it is black, hold keys Apple (Command) + Option + P + R down until you hear it "bong" three times. It's calling "zapping the PRAM" which basically tidies up the system. All 4 keys need to be held down at once, and must be held down while black startup screen and, though uncomfortable, wait till those 3 bongs, then release and it starts up as usual.
2. Make sure all USB cables are connected securely.
3. Do you have to set the Canon to a mode that looks like an "upload" mode? My Canon has a icon looking like a square with a triangle in it.
4. If it's still not recognized .... I would try another USB cable if you have it. Any that have that smaller camera connection will do.
5. If it's still not recognized - think if you've added any new software lately. Is there new Canon driver software out there? http://www.usa.canon.com/html/canonindex.html

All Canon's work with Mac - you won't need to transfer to Windows.

Hope this helps.

you see, maybe the usb can only work with windows, but there is another possible reason. my coumputer can't detect it, because of it's virus thing, but my laptop will make it work. try dowloading to a windows then transfer it to your mac.

well, there are two more reasons to it
1. your camera may be old.
2. you have not turn it to the play mode...?

Good Luck!

If all else fails while trying to connect with the cable, you can try using a USB card reader. You can get card readers that will just read SD cards, CF cards, or many different kinds of cards. You take the card out of you camera and put it into the card reader. Then connect the card reader to the computer. It should show up as a mass storage device, like a flash drive.

what is a better camera the canon powershot SX10 IS or the canon EOS 10D or the Nikon s60?

please let me know

if u have a bettter selection let me know

It's kind of like asking what's better 2008 Toyota, 2003 Mercedes or 2009 Honda... You got the point - one of them is very much out of league, albeit a little bit aged...

And to answer the question - of course Canon 10D is far far better then the other two... It is a professional SLR camera that has excellent sensor, and options for great optics (you didn't tell if it comes with a lens and what lens, but I am sure that almost any lens on 10D would be better than ones the other two come with)...

LEM.

You shouldn't compare point and shoots with a digital SLR. The DSLR is so much more versatile.

For me Powershot SX10 IS is better.

The Canon SX10 IS is just what I was waiting for in a Canon point and shoot camera. Pro's are is the 10 megapixels and the long 20 X zoom. The price won't rob your wallet either. The photos I have taken are great, sharp and clear. The con's I have to mention is that it doesn't accept filters but I believe a company is working on making something fit. I've read on line actually that some folks are using a 52 mm filter but Canon says it wasn't made to be used with filters. Also the program to download photos to your computer are not as easy as my Canon S-2 or XTi but that is not a big deal. You will be impressed with the pictures it takes.

Canon Powershot SX10IS
10.0-megapixel resolution for high-quality printing and flexibility when editing
20x optical zoom, wide-angle lens and Optical Image Stabilizer; improved speed and quiet zooming
2.5-inch Vari-angle LCD; DIGIC 4 Image Processor improves Face Detection
MovieSnap mode lets you capture high-resolution still images while shooting a movie
Capture images to SD/SDHC memory cards

Hope that help.

canon EOS 10D is DSLR while canon powershot SX10 IS and Nikon s60 are digital camera. For me I would go with canon powershot SX10 IS http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B001G5ZTZO?ie=UTF8&tag=yk-1-20&linkCode=as2&camp=1789&creative=390957&creativeASIN=B001G5ZTZO

What is a great camera for digital photography?

I would love to get the Canon Digital Rebel, but it's out of my price range.

I need something that has great focus, mininum noise, great macro, and under $400.
I've been doing digital photography for over a year now, and my HP camera is slowly losing it's quality.

Cameras I've thought about:
Canon PowerShot S60
Olympus SP-510 UZ

thanks in advance!

Hmmm, the Canon Powershot S60 is now over 2 1/2 years old, so maybe you wrote down the wrong model number...and I certainly wouldn't recommend a new camera THAT old.
However, if you actually mean the Ixus 60 (SD600) then yes, it's a very popular compact camera. It's one to look at if you want a very small point & shoot camera, that also takes great photos, but is lacking full manual control (also battery life is fairly small, so you need to recharge regularly).

Anyway, from the review of the Olympus SP-510 UZ, that I have read, I can't say that I would be eager to buy it.
Here is what the review concluded...
"Pro:
Sleek, silvery design is futuristic but functional.
Comfortable handgrip
Great color, good dynamic range, and decent sharpness in images shot in adequately lit conditions

Con: Excessive noise in images shot above ISO 400
Inadequate resolution for 2.5-inch LCD
Sluggish overall performance and during picture-taking and general operations
Outdated menu system
No paper manual for advanced instruction, only CD
Only digital image stabilization for 10x zoom which increases noise and degrades quality."

The lack of Optical image stabilisation and it's very slow performance, would be enough reason to stay away from this model.

If you like Canon, then I would recommend the A630 or A640.
Or for a camera with 12x optical image stabilisation and great macro (even super macro, 0-10 cm) and shoots great 'movies, then have a look at the Canon S3 IS.
You will also need a fast memory card for top camera performance (Sandisk Ultra II or Extreme III).

I highly recommend Canon...They have a great reputation and a variety of lenses....especially when you buy the larger body type and not the point and shoot type.

http://ebay.com/ you can find ur camera and at a low price.

Jazliyn I saw you on the news today...!!

the best photographic type would be
Olympus sp-510 uz as known with great zoom lens adapter
4000 + memory card +instantflashbar &batteries comes complete see http://www.olympusdigetal.com

Keep saving, and wait a little, eventually you will be able to afford the Canon or perhaps a Nikon D40. These cameras are just so superior to non-SLR cameras, that they are well worth a little wait and some scrimping & saving.

Consumer Reports for November 2006 has ranked the Canon Powershot A620 as the best compact digital camera. It is becoming almost a legend for longevity at the top of various consumer lists. It looks like this model has been replaced by the A630, which I would expect to be just as popular. The A640 appears quite similar and shares the "600" series numbering, so I guess it's just another upgraded version of the now-classic A620. It looks pretty much the same except for being a 10 MP camera.

I own a few Nikon DSLR's and I'd buy the Canon A630 or A640 for myself.

The A620 was rated about twice as good as any as far a battery life. I hope the A630 and A640 are just as good. Use Energizer e2 LITHIUM batteries and you will be happy with battery life.

With this camera, you will find the memory card is a cute little token of thanks from Canon, but not much more. Buy a 1 GB Sandisk Ultra II or Extreme III card. You will NEED the increased capacity and write speed to fully realize the benefits of your camera. I see a rebate on the Sandisk Extreme III cards that actually makes them cheaper than the Ultra II's, so there is no reason not to buy the faster card. The rebate offer ends 12-31-06, though. If you don't find this elsewhere, I saw it at http://www.bhphotovideo.com

If you want a sleek, smaller camera that will easily fit in your pocket, consider the Canon Powershot SD600. It gives up some of the features of the A630 and 640, but at least it still has an optical viewfinder, which I consider to be essential.

How to get crisp photos & images from Photoshop?

I used to get excellent quality images using photoshop cs2 to to edit them & put on my website. Now the images are fuzzy and even a logo I've done in ps is fuzzy once I send it to my website. I still use my canon powershot s60 digital camera but I have installed an updated ps. What is the best way to save an edited image? I usually 'save for web' & wondered should I do it some other way?

Make sure your image mode is set to RGB 16-bit and save the image as a jpg file.

I'd suggest saving as a high quality Jpeg.

How good are the Pentax DSLRs, particularly the 200D?

I am upgrading from a Canon Powershot S60 to a DSLR. I am considering a Nikon D60 and a Canon EOS Rebel Xsi; but I am also considering the Pentax 200D. Bells and whistles are unimportant, all I'm really concerned with is image quality. Does the Pentax hold its own or not. I have searched and searched and can't seem to find any truly objective evaluation. Just want to know if anyone can tell me how the Pentax stacks up against either the Nikon or Canon.

Ken Rockwell makes no argument as to whether IS/VR is better on lenses or with sensors in that article. Furthermore, there is no definitive proof that suggests any advantage of using optical IS over sensor-shift/mechanical IS other than the ability to view the effect in the optical viewfinder. With live view IS preview (currently Olympus only AFAIK), it's becoming even less of an selling point. The advantage of having mechanical IS is that you don't have to pour hundreds of extra dollars to buy the stabilized versions of the same lens. You can input the focal length of any lens you can mount on the camera to calibrate the amount of compensation required.

The battery argument is hardly one that sways. Don't tell me you'd pass up weather sealing, 11-point autofocus (compared to 3 on the D60), mechanical image stabilization, backwards compatibility with any K-mount lens made since the mid-70s (and virtually every Pentax lens ever made with adapters), and an affordable lens and accessory lineup because of an AA battery problem. AAs are inexpensive, easy to find, and plentiful in supply. Buy a few sets of Eneloops and you're good to go -- way cheaper than an OEM battery. If that isn't enough, Pentax makes a weather sealed battery grip for the K200D as well. The place the K200D really lags behind its competition is its continuous shooting rate (2.5 fps compared to an average of 3 fps).

Take a look at DPReview's comparision in the K200D review. They compare RAW, JPEG, and ISO tests between the K200D, D60, and XSi. With the digital cameras that are out these days, the difference between IQ is minute so it really does come down to those bells and whistles. Good technique and proper equipment (lenses and lighting) trumps nearly any IQ problem.
http://www.dpreview.com/reviews/pentaxk200d/page25.asp

The problem with the Pentax entry level DSLR's is they do NOT use the state of the art Li-ion batteries. Their better DSLR's like the K10D and K20D do, but they are NOT entry level cameras. They are sub-$1000 camera bodies and in that arena the Nikon D90 is the king ....

At present the most bang for the buck is the Nikon D40 with 18-55 mm lens .. Under $450 on Amazon

Pixel count?

IS/VR ... better within the lens.

How To take a raw image?

How do a take a raw image with my canon powershot s60 digital camera? How can I make this work for PS cs2?

Unbelievably the S60 does have a RAW mode. You need to go into your menu and change the image format to Canon's native mode.

Adobe has all kinds of RAW plug-ins for photoshop.

My camera's lcd screen only displays white. Help!?

I have a Canon Powershot S60 camera and it's a little more than 1 year old. The LCD screen begins to display only white no matter which display mode I'm in. How do I fix this?
I can still take pictures with the camera. It is only the LCD that doesn't work.

it needs repaired

Why is there no manual focus on cameras anymore?

I want to buy a new digital camera, but I want to be able to focus it by myself. My old Canon PowerShot S60 has manual focus, but a lot of the new cameras (such as the Canon PowerShot SD870) don't have this feature. Is it because the auto focus is a lot better now? Thanks.

I'm talking about compact digital cameras.

I think it may have more to do with the fact at a lot of people who have been shooting P&S cameras have upgradded to DSLR's to do their selective focus shots.

And yes there are more features found on the new P&S cameras, like face recognition and operator designation of focus points.

The goal seems to be to create a P&S camera that will produce perfect photos without the operator needed to know anything about photography.

About the Fuji S1000fd?

I just bought the Fujifilm S1000fd. Today I went to Hoboken to take some pictures of New York from the peers, and couldn't wait to get home.
The thing is that back in cuba, I had a Cannon PowerShot S60, and I haven't be able to find a Camera that deliver the picture quality that camera gave me.
Now that I bought the S1000fd, and that I unload the pics I took today, when I make a 100% zoom, I see a not to good picture, and that bothers me a little. I what to know if anybody out there have the same problem, and if someone can tell me if this camera I just bought is good enough and its worth the 200 dollars I paid for it.
Thanks beforehand, and see ya around.

Which camera should I buy?

I am looking to buy a new camera. The one I have now is an older Nikon. I am wanting a good camera that is under $300, although I was looking at the new Nikon CoolPix S60. Are the Cannon Powershot cameras any good?? I want one that can take great pictures and videos, easy to carry, and stylish. Any ideas?
When I said great pictures I meant quality, zoom, ect.
