(($4.13) NB-3L20 Battery for Canon Powershot SD10 SDD- D1114

More Details at: www.tmart.com Product Description: Ensure you always have plenty of shooting power with Lithium-ion Rechargeable Canon Camera ...

The batteries from my Canon PowerShot SD10 only last 10 minutes when fully charged. Why?

I've had this camera for about three years. At first the batteries worked fine. I used a canon one. They are NB-3L kind. But then I bought some non brand-name batteries off of ebay and my problem started. I don't remember if it happened right away though. A few months ago I bought a new Canon battery, hoping that my problem would go away, but it didn't. What could be the problem and how could I fix it?
The new Canon battery I bought is a Lithium-Ion rechargeable battery. Even after using it the problem was still there. Does anyone know how much it would cost to repair the camera?

Presuming that the Canon brand replacement NB-3L was real and not a fake (unfortunately, that happens - but if you got it from a major source, like Best Buy or some other you will be safe), then you must have a problem with either the camera or the charger.

I am not familiar with your model of camera... do you remove the battery to charge it or plug the charger into the camera? If the former, try getting a new charger. If the later, either the charging circuit in the camera is damaged, or there is a short in the camera.

Given that qualified technicians will likely charge in the range of $75 / hr plus parts, I would not consider servicing a three year old camera. Time for a new toy perhaps?

If you want to try a new charger, check out certified battery; they have your charger for about $20.

Good luck!

Barring an internal issue in the camera itself, the batteries just do not have the capacity, for a number of possible reasons, to hold a charge and operate the camera. Cheap batteries are something to stay away from, even though the price might be appealing.
For your sake, I would recommend a set of Nickel Metal Anhydride batteries, or rechargeable Lithium batteries.

sorry
the camera needs repaired

The batteries are probably getting old or something is wrong with them. Or theres something wrong with the camera. I'd bet its the camera my old point and shoot camera is acting the same way so im looking to upgrade.

if i were you i'd buy new rechargable batteries then try them. if your camera only lasts for 10 minutes then the problem is your camera

Before taking the camera in for repair, have the charger checked. If the charger is not doing what it is supposed to be doing, no battery will work for you. batteries plus can check out your battery and charger to make sure they are not really the culprit, before paying big dollars for repairs. They have a dealer locator on their website, there might be one near where you live. Check them out http://www.batteriesplus.com
