How do you change the shutter speeds on a Canon Powershot SD200 Digital Elph?

I just got a Powershot SD200 Digital Elph from a friend. They do not have the instruction manual, I have tried looking on the internet and cannone find anything!

You can easily download the user manual for every camera from Canon.com

However, in answer to your question...your camera only gives you the ability to select a Long Shutter of between 1-15 seconds, but nothing faster...because all the SD models are primarily 'point & shoot' so do not give you too many manual controls.
For a faster shutter speed...you will probably have to select 'kids & pets' from the Scene mode (the camera should apply a faster shutter speed).

You need to press the centre button on the four way controller to access the menu options.
And you will not be able to access most functions while in AUTO..so select MANUAL (M) to give you access to more functions.

I have sent you review pages of your camera. Have a read through them because they show and explain the various functions of the camera etc. which should really help you.

And don't forget to go to Canon.com and look at SUPPORT (you can download your manual).

No, HC SD cards are a new format that are incompatible with standard SD card technology and equipment.

HC SD equipment is backwards compatible with standard SD cards, however.

The difference has to do with how the hardware reads and writes the memory addresses inside the card.

I can't figure out how to do it. I went through all the menu options. My husband changed it for something awhile ago and can't remember how he did it. I need to change it back to the highest res.

It's on page 49 or the user manual. Put the camera on camera mode, press FUNC SET, use the up/down arrows to navigate to the Resolution menu (indicated by L, M1, M2, S) and use the right/left arrows to put it on L (highest resolution).

I'm a 13 year old who has owned a Canon Powershot A10, a Canon Powershot SD200, and a recently purchased Canon Powershot SD870 IS Digital ELPH. I'm now looking for something that is more powerful and more customizable (in terms of manually adjustable exposure, aperture, etc, not add ons), and I'm looking at the Powershot G9, and the Canon Powershot Digital Rebel XSi with Kit Lens. I'm leaning towards the XSi, but I'm looking for a second opinion. If there's a different camera you think would be better, let me know. My only restrictions are that it must be latest generation, it must be Canon, and it must be no more expensive than the XSi with lens.

Why are the XSi and XS the same price? Is there something in the XS that is better? Because it seems like the XSi is the XS with more features.

I have the XTi because I have no use for the live view in a DSLR. I don't use a tripod much, and that is the only time live view would be beneficial. No way would I hold a heavy camera out in front of me to take a pic like with a point & shoot

My opinion is that I would rather have the XTi which is a tried and true popular model and is cheaper. That leaves me more to spend on another lens. Just my opinion.

i have a Canon PowerShot SD200.

The SD200 is only a 3.2MP camera (released around 3 1/2 years ago).
Make sure you set your quality/resolution to Superfine/Large, which is the best you're going to get.
If you're still not happy with the quality of your images, then you are probably going to have to upgrade to a newer and better camera. Canon has some very good new SD models available...

ok, i got my digital camera; Canon powershot SD200 last june and i loved it so much but somehow, the lens won't go back every time i turn it off but i never dropped it on the floor or whatever so it's so weird that my digital camera is not working anymore so i want to fix it but i dont know where any good shop that can fixes digital cameras really good is so do you know any shops for that?

Depending on where you live, there might be repair shops. An easy way is to contact a local camera store to locate the repair shop.

Camera technology moves quickly, so it might be cheaper to buy a new Powershot than repairing the old one. Hopefully it's a small problem, that can be fixed cheaply.
