The "disp" button allows you to change what information the LCD screen displays.

As for color accent, you do that in the menu where you switch the mode.

I'm asking for a link to lead me to a website that has a free download for the software of the SD40. The software meaning, the installation package so I can put pictures on my computer. Helpp!

you have to chose an operating system in the drivers/downluad section to see the software available.
Site takes a little to be loaded.

You don't need the software. Just use a card reader with your memory card. Your computer will see it as a removable drive...then just copy the files to your hard drive.

You should be able to download it from Canon's website. Try going to powershot.com and look for your camera. If you're still unable to find it, give Canon a call.

Or you can do another thing - try buying another one (CD). Its the same for all canon powershots (and may be even all canons) and I hope you will get it in CD stores.

You don't need a cd to transfer images to your computer. You can buy an SD card reader and use that (with your memory card) to easily transfer your images to your computer, instead.

Color Accent on Canon Powershot?

I have a Canon Powershot SD40 and I was wondering how to get the color accent to work...specific instructions would be great!! Thanks!

Here's how I do it on my Powershot SD800 IS.

In the manual mode. Hit Func. Set button.
Go to Color Accent (Looks like Eye Dropper with A)
Hit Func. Set.
Hit the Disp button
A white box appers. Point your camera to the color you want to accent and hit left on your control buttons.
You can also press up and down to adjust how much of an accent you want.
Take the picture.
