How Much is the Canon Powershot SD550 worth?

Perfect condition, doesnt have original package (never came with it) but has everything that its supposed to. How much do you think its worth? On Ebay for exp.?
Oh plus a 512 MB SD memory card

The best thing to do would be go search for the camera and watch a few of the listings (add them to your watch list, not just go back and look at them) that are exactly what you have, at the end of each you will be able to see what the ending price was, somewhere in that range is what it is worth.

How do I take a 600x600 pixel photograph with the Canon SD550 Powershot Digital Camera without any editing?

I want to submit it to the Diversity Visa Lottery and it won't accept any other resolutions. I don't also have access to any digital image editing software.

Thanks in advance !

You can not do that in camera, and you wouldn't want to even if you could.
If you don't have any editing software, simply upload it to picnik.com or fotoflexer.com and do it there (for free).

My friend has a Canon Powershot SD550 and cannot get the pics off it on Windows XP... any ideas?

She installed the software off the cd that came with the cam, but its not working for her. I'm used to dealing with things on a Mac, so iPhoto just runs the show for me, but I have no idea what to tell her. Any insight?

I have the SD550. Tell her to connect the camera to her pc with the provided usb cable. Switch the camera to view mode (like if were going to look at the picture on the camera's lcd). Give it a minute. The camera's lcd should turn off and the software on your pc should prompt her to start downloading the pictures.

Make sure the software is for XP, reboot computer and test. Try to re-install. Otherwise, go to your nearest computer superstore and get a USB card reader. You can plug your memory card from the camera into the card reader, then plug it into the USB port. It will work like a removable disk drive. Sometimes it's just quicker all around to use one of these.

put the camera in review mode

The King is right ...

... or your friend can do what most of us who have been using digital cameras for many years do. Either use the card reader that is on our computer or spend about $10 and buy a USB card reader and take the camera out of the loop. Then we just have to use our computer skills to copy the image files from the memory card to our computer.

Better to reinstall the software and restart the system.
If you still have the problem, it is better to go for a good card reader.
You can copy the image files and paste in your appropriate folders.

Can I use an 8GB SD memory card with a Canon SD550 Powershot Camera?

Does it matter what size memory card I use? What is the largest size SD memory card I can use with it. I am currently using 1GB and it works perfectly fine.

No, you can't use an SDHC (high capacity SD) memory card with your SD550.
Memory cards are dirt cheap, so just buy another 1-2GB SD card if you need more capacity.

If you can use a 1GB, then a 2GB will work fine. You camera's sensor is so small, buying a larger card only means that you will wait too long to copy your images to your computer and thereby risk card corruption if you happen to pull the card out when the camera is still turned on or you get into the bad habit of deleting images you don't like using the cameras delete button ... don't do it ... carry an extra card ... then do your deleting on the computer using the nice large monitor.

Can I use my Canon SD550 Powershot camera as a web cam?

I was wondering if I can hook it up to my computer and get it configured with Skype?

No, you can't use your camera as a webcam. You will have to buy a...webcam, instead. A good one won't cost too much.

My Canon powershot SD550 Digital Elph flash not working?

I had this camara for a years now and the flash just broke. Can someone help me? Should I buy a light bulb to replace it? (If so where can I get the light bulb?) or trade it for SD800IS. how much will it cost me to get it repair?

I spent over 25 years working in the Consumer Repair Electronics business. Today and for the last 10 years at least 100% of all items priced under $300 are "throw - away" and were never really intended to be repaired, only certain things on items priced between $300 and $700 have some parts available that can be purchased and replaced. If you spend more then $700 on an item then you fully expect to find most parts available most of the time. At one point with the service center at Best Buy in St. Louis, we went from around $100,000 in parts inventory on hand in 1990 to well over a million in parts inventory on hand by 1994 for just one location out of well over 40 locations.

When you build and sell 40 million widgets to go along side hundreds and thousands of other items just imagine how much part stock inventory accumulates? Now imagine why no one would stock a "flash bulb"?

Go buy a new camera and keep the Earth spinning on its axis

scratch remover for the screen on a cannon powershot SD550 camera?

I have bad stratches i want to remove!

I would not try the ones advertised ont TV. They will probably haze your whole screen and ruin it. Your best bet is try and find one on ebay that someone is salvaging from another camera of your model. They are very expensive if you go to Canon. Next time use a lens protector like those sold for the GameBoy or other screen protectors.

what does the USB cord look like to the cannon powershot sd550 camera?

It's a common cord, USB to mini USB 5-pin.

What's the difference between the canon powershot SD500 and the SD550?

I bought the SD500 before the SD550 came out. I know the lcd screen is bigger. Are there any other differences? AND is the bigger screen that much of a difference?

Also I know that there were problems with people cracking the screen on the SD500. Did the SD550 resolve these problems?

It also appears there may be some *tiny* other changes. The comparison seems to show a few and the software may be slightly different.

There was also a long discussion of this at http://forums.dpreview.com/forums/read.asp?forum=1010&message=16049717

Can I charge battery for Canon Powershot SD550 with my S110 charger I bought on eBay? Blk w/ inlaid flat plug?

I have a seemingly-universal charger I bought on eBay (probably came from Hong Kong). It's got the US-version inlaid plug that has a hinge-joint snap (so you can retract the plug part if you're going to charge it via the car charger attachment). I bought if for my Canon Powershot S110.
Can I charge the battery for my Canon SD550 in it? It is a little bit shorter, but the contacts are in exactly the same place; the battery looks like it's the same shape-- just shorter. One of them says BJB and one says CLC. That is the only difference in the batteries besides the fact that the battery for SD550 is shorter.

Both batteries are black and both have the same exact width and thickness.

Thanks!!!
