Canon PowerShot SD750 Digital ELPH Camera

Canon's iconic ELPH design achieves a stunning new evolution with the PowerShot SD750 Digital ELPH. Of course, style means little without ...

What other digital camera is as good as the Canon Powershot SD750 Silver?

I'm thinking of buying a Canon Powershot SD750 silver for my girlfriend as a surprise. She had told me a few months ago that she wanted one. I could buy it for her , but the price is kind of steep at $299. I was wondering is there another digital camera that is just as good but a little bit less pricey? It could be $225 or less. I know she wants a camera that is slim, and that can fit into a pocket. Also she wants one that has a nice LCD screen to watch the previews, and has different picture modes. Any suggestions would help.

The Canon Powershot SD750 and SD1000 are almost identical cameras.
The main differences (other than a slightly different body), are...
SD750...3.0" LCD, no viewfinder.
SD1000...2.5" LCD, has a viewfinder.

My pick would be the SD1000, because it has the viewfinder (which is invaluable to have at times). Plus, it's in your price range ($200-250).
Both have the same high res. LCD screen (230,000 pixels).
The SD750's LCD is just slightly larger and that's the only real reason it costs more.

good luck...

PowerShot SD750?????

I am looking at gettign this camera for our Honeymoon/Cruise. Does anyone have one? Can you tell me how good it is? I want bad reviews too? Anything?
or the SD800 I just looked at it. It looks pretty good.

It looks like a great camera ... check out the Canon SD800 IS, it has an actual viewfinder (less camera movement because the camera can be held to your eye and your face helps steady the camera), a brighter flash, IS and the same great Li-ion battery.

See link

the sd800 is a better model
excellent reviews

Can anyone tell me the difference between the canon powershot sd750 and the canon ixus 75?

I've seen 2 different cameras one with the words " Canon powershot sd 750 digital elph" written on front side of it and another with "canon digital ixus 75" written on it. Surely this is 2 different cameras? Its the ixus 75 i'm after as thats the one i read rated reviews on and dont want to get the wrong one.

BIG Difference:

Two different countries of origin = two different warranties. The SD750 is a Canon USA product, and will only be accepted for repair if purchased and used in the USA or Cananda. If you live anywhere else and buy this camera and something breaks...Canon won't touch it.

The Ixus 75 is the European model - if you live in Europe, buy that one. If you live in America, stay away, as Canon USA won't repair it.

Either way, it's a great camera - just purchase the one appropriate to where you live, and enjoy!

They're one and the same, it's just that Canon has the bad habit of giving some of their cameras a different model name/number depending on the market: it's “SD750” in America, “IXUS 75” in Europe... and, for that matter, “IXY 90” in Japan.

Can the Canon Powershot SD750 digital camera use the SDHC cards?

Looking to buy an extreme SDHC card for the Canon SD750 but don't know if they are compatible.

Yes, you can use SDHC cards. Your Advanced User Guide says so (Specifications, page 136).

Canon Powershot SD750 Screen does not work anymore?

My camera, which is a canon powershot SD750 has stopped showing pictures in the screen and I see a crack on the upper part of the screen, it looks like it got dropped, stepped on or something. How do I fix it? It does take pictures still but can not see the picture on the screen.

Thanks
Ok.. where can I get this fixed? And how much approx do you think it'll cost?

The only thing you can do is get it fixed.

Are the Canon Powershot sd750 and sd1000 the same as far as battery live, image quality, and video quality?

I am deciding which one to buy and they seem the same to me except for the bigger screen and lack of a view finder on the sd750. If they are the same, with battery live, image quality, and video and sound quality, what else makes them different?

You'll get better battery life out of the SD1000 because it has a smaller screen. Also because you can turn off the screen and just use the optical viewfinder that will save you batteries. Otherwise the exact same.

Is it true that the Canon PowerShot SD750 has severe lens problems?

SD750 or SD1000?
I don't HAVE this camera, but I WANT it, but a lot of people seem to have issues with it.

Can you elaborate what was the problem? If you find your camera has lens problem, you should return or exchange it.

I have a question about Canon Powershot sd750? How do I do this?

I saw on someone's camera (I believe it was the sd750 model) that when they took picture it had the face detection technology. Also, either during playback or when they were going to take a picture the screen showed the whole picture being taken as well as a smaller box on the right showing the closeup of the face (kind of like PIP on a tv). What is this function called and what settings do you need to have it on to make the camera do this? I tested out the sd750 at a store and wasn't able to make it do this. Thanks.

Ah, the joys of trying to figure out a camera without a manual.

See page 46 of the advanced manual, link below.

Why is the video length on my Canon Powershot SD750 so short?

So like an hour ago i bought my Canon Powershot SD750 and the video length before the memory card is full is like 3 seconds. why is that? there's nothing else on the memory card!

What capacity is your memory card? My Canon SD1000 gets about 8 minutes of 640x480 video on my 1gb card.

To be honest it sounds to me like you're using the build-in memory of the camera or you're using the memory card that came with it. If that's the case those things are only like 16mb (1000mb in one gb) and that would explain your short video. If this is the case you can pick up a 1gb SD card for about $20 at any place that sells cameras.

How Do I Get My Powershot SD750 To Focus While In VIdeo Mode?

I got this camera for christmas and i really love it! i was wondering if there was any way to focus it the way you would with a regular video camcorder. i was trying to zoom in and hold it steadier but that didnt seem to help. any tips/ideas? maybe there's a setting im missing?

When you zoom in in video mode, the camera does a digital crop of the sensor, which actually reduces quality.

Make sure that your subject of interest is prominent in the frame. And when you activate the video, you can focus by pressing lightly on the release until you hear the "beep" to indicate that focus is locked. Then fully depress the shutter to start the video recording. If you need to zoom, move your camera closer to or farther from your subject.

A point and shoot camera can't function as well as a dedicated video camcorder; it's a nice feature, but it's not the main purpose of the camera.
