Is Canon powershot SD700 got replaced with Canon powershot SD800 (Digital Camera) ?

I bought a camera Canon powershot SD700 2 weeks ago. Now SD800 got released. Should I retun Sd700 & buy SD800? But Canon Powershot D700 Zoom got stuck. I am planning to return that camera. I hardly used it. Even to exchange this with another one, they don't have 700 in the store. They have SD800. Price is $60 in difference. It looks exactly like SD700, with little upgrade. I am wondering may be I will have same problem even if I buy SD800(Zoom). I really like the size & functionality of this camera. You think Canon replaced SD700 with SD800.?
Howcome I can't find any SD700 s in the stores? Any suggestions.
Thanks in advance.

I would pay the little extra cash and get the newer SD800 IS.
It still has image stabilization
has an extra Megapixel
has a wider lens (28-105mm)
and a higher resolution LCD
and the new Digic III processor.

If I were you, I would return the SD700 for the SD800...since you have to return it anyway. At least then you will get a few more months until the SD800 is replaced by the SD900.

Just like computer and other technologies, you buy something, and it's already outdated.

How do you take a completely out of focus picture with a Canon Powershot SD800 IS?

I know how to do macro, but I want the whole picture out of focus.

Cover the lens with something and half press the shutter release to that the PowerShot tries to AF. Because the lens is covered the camera will eventually give up and throw the focus to infinity. Keep the shutter release half pressed until you recompose the image. If what you're trying to not photograph (or in other words: if the OOF area you want is far away) then turn on macro mode and focus on something real close. Like before, keep the shutter release half pressed until you have recomposed.

Throw it into macro mode and focus on something really really close by pushing the shutter release button partway down. Once you have that focused (keep holding the button partway) re compose onto a scene thats farther away, at least a couple of feet. The camera should be in single shot mode so that it doesnt try and track focus.

How do you like your Canon PowerShot SD800 IS?

I'm thinking about buying one so I can take it to the Mexico's with me.

Mine is great, better than Kodak, Olympus, etc.

how much memory can the Canon Powershot SD800 IS support?

I bought this camera about 2 years ago and i bought it with a 512 mb sd card. Now its time to buy more memory but i am not sure how much it can support. i have looked everywhere and i can't find the answer. I don't wanna buy a 4gb sd card and then find out it doesn't support it.

So can someone please tell me how much it can support?

Well you can always call the Canon help line 800.OK-CANON

If you look in your owners manual, you will see that it uses SD / SDHC memory cards, so that will mean that it will use at least 4 GB cards. There is also a chart in the manual that will tell you how many images a card will hold at the different resolution options. I am sure the 4 GB card is not listed, but all you have to do is do the math

hmm about 500 pics i guess

i have that camera

go to canonusa.com
support section to find out

Can someone please tell me how to upload videos to my PowerBook G4 from my Canon PowerShot SD800?

When I upload pictures to iPhoto it doesn't upload the videos. When I open iMovie and select upload, it doesn't show the camera as an available source to upload files from.

When you plug your camera in, it should show up on your desktop as an external device. Double click that icon, and drag the videos onto your computer.

Cannon has crap software, and doesn't always get along with all computers.

Anyone have a Canon Powershot SD800 or SD1000 camera?

These two cameras had view finders and I was wanting to know which one would be best? I understand cameras with out view finders use the most batteries.

Here are the un-biased reviews of those two cameras. One thing that I do with batteries is that I purchased 2 sets of Rechargeable batteries for my camera. Use one set and charge the second and just switch positions so that you always have charged batteries in the camera. You can recharge batteries up to 50-75 times. It will save you money in the long run. They are cheaper at Walmart or Sam's Club.

How do you take a bokeh shot on a Canon PowerShot SD800 IS?

Which settings? step by step please.

Bokeh isn't a thing or technique that you can create or replicate; it's an intangible property. The aesthetic quality of the out-of-focus area, called bokeh, is determined by the optical design of the lens.

If you're trying to say that you want a shallow depth of field, where only small areas are in focus and the rest is quickly thrown out of focus, then you're going to have a hard time. To do so, you'll need some control over the aperture, but because your camera is an automatic point & shoot you have none. You can mimic the effect by taking pictures as close to your subject as you can or by zooming in and working at the minimum distance where the SD800 IS will still be able to focus. Force the camera to open up the aperture by using a lower ISO.

my computer wont detect my Canon Powershot SD800 IS digital camera, what should i do?

Go to Canon's website and download the software from there.

http://www.usa.canon.com/consumer/controller?act=ModelInfoAct&tabact=SupportDetailTabAct&fcategoryid=224&modelid=14227#DownloadDetailAct

It's the tab that says "Drivers & Downloads". Select your operating system and bingo!, you can download the software. Good luck!

which camera: Canon Powershot SD800 or Lumix FX33??? Do you have either of these? How do you like them?

I would absolutely love to hear from anyone who has used both these cameras well enough to remember which they liked better and why. I think they are both great and pretty evenly matched with different strengths and i can't decide!

Thankyou!
What I'm really interested in is why one is better than the other.

sd800 is alot better
