Canon Powershot SD880 IS Digital Camera

It's so easy to capture the magic of every moment when the SD880 IS Digital ELPH comes along for the ride. It's a dramatic fusion of ...

how to upload canon powershot SD880 IS videos on facebook?

my new camera a canon power shot SD880 videos cannot be upload on facebook for some reason...i had the other powershot that was the same thing but the SD 880 is just a little better...my other camera was able to upload it fine..but this one says the file is a jpeg and facebook does not allow it to be uploaded...how do i convert it??

A file which ends in .jpg is a photo not a video. You should look for files that end in .avi - these are video files on your Canon camera.

Canon PowerShot SD880 IS Digital ELPH Lens Error?

I was looking at my brothers camera and i by accident dropped it and the lens is crooked and it wont go back in.
He needs his camera by tommorow and he will freak if he finds out. I have taken out the battery and it still doesnt work. Please help. He will kill me.

Canon ELPH cameras are tender as are most digital cameras. I think no matter what you try do to repair it, it will never work. Go to a big box store and buy Bro another camera.

Good luck!

Canon PowerShot SD880 IS, Fujifilm FinePix F100fd or Canon Powershot SX110 IS?

I am looking for a camera ($300 or less) that has a SLR-like picture output..without the price of an DSLR. I would just like my pictures to be crisp and noise free--like the output of a DSLKR--image stabilization, and--not sure what it is called--the ability to take pictures pretty quickly one after another. Flash recycling? Something under 5 seconds preferably. Most of my pictures will be indoors, but sometimes outside at night.
I would like something with at least a LITTLE manual control, but it doesn't need a viewfinder.
I would love the Canon G9 or G10, but I can't afford it, even the sales one.
Would you recommend any of these for me?
Canon PowerShot SD880 IS
Canon Powershot SX110 IS
Fujifilm FinePix F100fd
Canon PowerShot A720 IS

I wish I could get an SLR-like camera, but it is too $$. I know no compacts will compare to an SLR, but I feel torn. I want the very best possible camera that is closest to an SLR.
Thanks for the help!

Go for canon sd990is.

Its under $300.

CANON POWERSHOT

1) Does the Canon PowerShot SD880 IS have video features? 2) Is the Sony CyberShot T700 better?

10 points for best answer**

Sony CyberShot T700:http://www.sonystyle.com/webapp/wcs/stores/servlet/ProductDisplay?catalogId=10551&storeId=10151&langId=-1&productId=8198552921665491098

Canon PowerSHot SD880 IS:http://www.usa.canon.com/consumer/controller?act=ModelInfoAct&fcategoryid=145&modelid=17626#ModelTechSpecsAct

you should definatly get the Sony cybershot. I've done alot of research on this camera b/c I want it sooo badly but can't afford it but ill get it eventually lol. but anyway it looks like a great camera. simple and easy to figure out and use. the other one just by looking at the description says that it's confusing to navigate through everything and stuff. and the cannon one will most likely have video features on it b/c like all new cameras have video stuff on them. Personally I'd get the sony cybershot

canon has video mode which is better than sony because it is capturing on mov format by using h.284 codec..

however i've personally used sony t700 it is a very good camera but only problem is red eye in night mode...

and lens is quite small so you might get more grains compare to canon one.. its better if you compare iso control of both cams on dpreview.com..

personally i feel SD990 is better cam... with manual controls as well

P&S digital camera opinions (Canon PowerShot SD880 IS)?

I'm looking at getting a digital camera that is at least 10 MP and I found this one which seems like an awesome camera. Does anyone have any opinions about the camera, or other cameras that may be better (for under $300)?
I don't just want to know what other cameras are out there. I want people with experience with different cameras.

While most of the cameras out there are really good, I would choose Canon over Nikon because it seems like more camera for the money. Some would say Canon withholds their best technology for high end cameras and Nikon implements their best at all levels. Before you decide, read all the text and links in the information below because it will help you know what to look for in a camera.

There is no one particular place to get great buys, but you may see something below that really helps you find the best buy. Click on the first link in the information below for an example then search for your camera of choice at the upper left. Camera prices at this link change often.

Just saw this camera at Best Buy and think it is a great camera and a best buy. It has an optical viewfinder, image stabilizer, auto focus, and uses NiMH rechargeable batteries. Read as much of the following as you can for other information and help with choosing a camera.

There are so many cameras out there it is difficult to say which is best, but digital is definitely the way to go. The second source link will be very helpful as it list most of the cameras out there with prices. The following information should help you know what to look for in a camera.

What gives a camera its picture quality?
The short answer is that it is mostly the skill of the photographer that produces high quality pictures. The lens and camera are very important, but the ability to set the scene, adjust the cameras settings, and hold the camera very still or use a tripod with auto or remote shutter actuation when required is what gets the great pictures.

Many of the new cameras come with only an LCD screen which is almost impossible to see in bright sun so you should try to find one that also has an optical view finder.

Check replacement battery prices when buying a new camera. Some proprietary batteries cost almost as much as the camera and may be only good for 200 shots between charges.

Higher mega pixels may not really be the best thing to look for. It is more expensive, takes longer to process, and may not be needed unless you are making a really large picture or blowing up a small part of a picture. Maximum print size for a 3 mega pixel setting is 8 x 10 inches.

The information about my camera is just to show that you don't need the biggest and best. Just know how to use the one you have.

My camera has 5.2 mega pixel, but I use 3 most of the time because it gives great results, is faster, and takes less memory. Also, it only has a 3 x optical zoom and 7 x digital zoom. I never use the digital zoom because making pictures larger works better on the computer. This is an old camera, but everyone is impressed with the quality pictures it takes ... like magic.

Check with the Geeks in several stores and compare prices. Ask what cameras they own, but don't believe everything you hear. Once you select a camera read all about it in the owner's manual. Just learned that my camera has red-eye prevention and correction. It also has adaptive lighting. Canon PowerShot SD790 IS or Canon PowerShot SD880 IS?

I'm getting a new camera, solely for the purpose of a P&S for just life in general (and maybe some basic photography)... I'm a sophomore in high school. Both seem like GREAT cameras but I'm not sure which one to get. They both share similar features (with minor differences). Which one do you think I should get?
I appreciate the tips, but I'd really like an opinion on the cameras I've chosen (I picked them for good reasons). I'd like to point out that I'm no professional so I'm not as concerned on the high-tech features.

Canon powershot 790vs880?

im looking at buying a canon powershot and narrowed it down to
cannon power shot sd790 IS or canon powershot sd880 IS any suggestions which is better for casual use?

and if anyone has either camera any input bad or good?

Is it cheaper to buy a digital camera (point & shoot) in the US than here in Manila?

I am planning to buy a Canon PowerShot SD880 IS (known as SD870 IS in Manila). The list price in the Canon Philippines site is Php 25,000.

Absolutely. According to Google, 25,000 PHP converts to $516 USD which is outrageously expensive for a point and shoot in the States. The camera alone costs $247.95 at B&H Photo & Video (a long-time, reputable camera equipment dealer in New York City) which roughly converts back to 12,013 PHP. However, be aware that the customs services may impose duties. Apply customs avoidance schemes at your discretion.

what is a good sub $300 digital camera that takes good video with sound and takes good 7-8+ MP pix?

I'm looking for a compact or ultra-compact camera that takes good video and 8 or more mega-pixel pictures, for a general idea of what i am looking at, i am looking at the Canon PowerShot SD880 IS, and the Nikon Coolpix S700 so far

when looking for video usage from your camera..you want to capture at the highest resolution possible available in the market...right now that 1280x720 for compacts... such as Panasonic Lumix DMC-FX37. You also want a camera that allows optical zoom during recording... the Panasonic does, the Canon 880IS does not. if you will be doing any post-capture editing... MJPEG (.avi) are easier to work with than cameras that record to Quicktime (.mov) or MP4.

Planning on buying a new Canon Powershot, I need opinions..?

I formerly had a Canon Powershot A530, but broke it recently. Now I want a new one for my February Vacation. I'm only 16 years old, but love photography. On the downside I don't have much to spend. I researched these camera's and I want an opinion on which to buy:

Canon SD990 IS

Canon SD1100 IS

Canon SD880 IS

Canon SX10 IS

Canon SX110 IS
To narrow the search down, I think I can only the "SD" cameras.
oh and yes i've read the reviews at that site.

All your mentioned cameras are good and the SX10 IS is the best in the list. If you don't have much to spend, then here is my idea;
If you had an A530 it means that you probably have a battery charger with rechargeable AA batteries. If so, you can also consider an A590 IS. This is not expensive and it is capable of making quality pictures like SD series (or even better!)
Be well
