When I take a video with the Canon PowerShot SD950 IS and playback the video, will the video have sound?

Okay, I was wondering if people who have the camera make videos and playback the videos and they have audio to them.


If You know what i'm talking about. Press play and the video will play w/ sound.
I DON'T have this camera, I am wondering because I'm going to buy It.

If you have this camera, then you should be able to answer your own question. Your question implies you have it already.

If not, just look on CanonUSA's website and the cameras specifications will list that.

e bay sucks. Try amazon, it is an excelent online shop, you're camera is U$340 and they ship to canada with low shipping rates. I have never had any problems with this shop.

what is difference between the canon cameras, powershot SD950 IS and powershot SD790 IS? thanks....?

im planning to buy a new camera and im debating between these two cameras, so which camera do you think is the best, thanks....

It seems SD950 IS wins over SD790 IS because :

a) of the added features like, optical view finder & auto ISO shift;
b) SD950 IS has higher resolution (12.1 MP ), better optical zoom 3.7 x & better focal length.

lol...this other guy has one and says it doesn't have an image stabilizer. He obviously just imagines that he has one.
Of course it has an image stabilizer (IS). It's not called the SD950 IS for nothing.
If you particularly want an ultra compact point & shoot camera that you can carry with you anywhere, then it makes a very good choice.

Ive used them both.. (i have the T200 and my friend has the sd950), in my opinion i prefer the T200.. much more stylish, 3.5" touch, although is also high in price. Id probably rate it at a 9 out of 10 in all; one reason being, its fast performance. I think the quality of the pictures are excellet (8.1mp). Also dont forget the smile shutter mode ;) that is cool. Yes, the charger is basically a transformer to convert the AC voltage to DC. The US is 110V 60Hz and the UK is 240V 50Hz. The DC voltage is still the same at 12V. The charger you need is Battery Charger CB-2LX. You can either buy a proper Canon one or a cheaper copy. You can buy a cheap copy one here:

One question is why would you want to buy another charger? Is the original one lost or damaged?

These power supplies are normally switch mode, which means they will accept any voltage between 100-240V. If it is a switch mode (check in the instruction manual) then all you need is a simple adaptor that goes between the original charger and the the UK socket.

I want to connect my canon powershot SD950 to my computer so that i may put my pictures on my computer, however the wires and stuff it came with can;t even plug into my camera??? How can I get my pictures on my computer? thank you.

Your SD950 came with a USB cable. You should check your user manual on how to connect the camera to the computer.
Or another option is to buy a card reader (SD or multi). Then all you have to do is insert it into your computer's USB port, and put your memory card into it.
It will show up as a removable drive (look in My Computer) and you can then copy & paste all images to the hard drive.

A few questions about ISO and flash and how they relate to picture quality (Canon Powershot SD950)?

I have a Canon Powershot SD950. I tried taking pictures of my hand (while I was wringing it really fast) with different ISO speeds and taking two pictures with each speed, one with flash on and one with the flash off. I found that the lower the speed with the flash on, the clearer the picture, and the lower the speed with out the flash the blurrier the picture. When I got up to ISO 3200 the picture was really grainy, and without the flash (the camera wouldn't let me turn on the flash for ISO 3200) you could tell that my hand, however blurry, was a hand.

This is all very confusing. Please explain about ISO in general and when you should use high settings, and when you should use low settings. When you should turn on the flash, and how that relates to ISO. Please be detailed in your answer.

OK, let's sort this out.

--- The blurriness of your hand is a function of the shutter speed. A fast shutter speed stops motion; a slow one shows it as blur.

--- Turning up the ISO allows the camera to shoot at a faster shutter speed, stopping motion.

--- However, turning up the ISO increases noise (grain). Unfortunately you'll have to trade off grain against blurriness.

--- Flash stops motion. For best image quality, use it at the lowest possible ISO. Only boost the ISO if you need extra flash range.

In general, small cameras are lousy for indoor shots without flash. It's the price you pay for smallness.

If you want good low light performance, you'll have to move up to a DSLR.

I have this camera and I cannot seem to get the flash to not come on. Does anyone know how to do this? When I turn the flash mode off it still turns on automatically.

i have the SD900IS. when you turn off the flash to take pictures and turn off the camera when your done and you turn it back on, the flash will be on again. to turn if off all the time, switch to MANUAL mode which is the M and set it off that way.
