Kodak EASYSHARE M1093 IS Digital Camera

The Kodak EASYSHARE M1093 IS Digital Camera features 10MP for stunning prints up to 30 × 40 in. (76 × 102 cm). However you choose to print—at ...

Can you tell me about the EASYSHARE M1093 IS Digital Camera?

Is this a good camera? Do you own it? I tried looking for reviews online, but I could not find that many besides the ones on Kodak.com. However, I want reviews outside of Kodak.
Is it fragile?

Does anyone know anything about the Kodak EASYSHARE M1093 IS Digital Camera?

If anyone owns it can you tell me how it is. I treid looking for reviews, but the only ones I could find from normal people were on Kodak.com or from pros who go into hardcore detail and you can't understand what they are talking about.

the reviews say it is not very good
poor ratings

I suggest the canon sd1100

I used to work at a tourist attraction in Pigeon Forge and we used an EasyShare model for souvenir photos... may not be the same as the one you're looking into, but the pictures we printed were always sharp and we hardly ever had any problems out of it... this thing was exposed to prolonged bouts of direct sunlight, rained on, dropped... it was a really good camera. The only problem with dropping it is if it lands on the lens housing, there's a good chance it will chip a piece off. Other than that, EasyShares are good!

I had a Kodak Easyshare DX6340 camera for over 5 years and have only just this Christmas retired it as 3.1 MP is pretty pathetic nowadays...and the prices of new 8MP+ ones are so good too...
It was always solid and easy to use...the software was great too but it did tend to take over every image on my computer...but it was easy to use and I never had any issues I couldnt easily fix. Took great videos too...all very easy to operate.
The Kodak was my first digital camera and was very easy to use...I rarely printed any photos and those I did print were perfectly acceptable and in standard photo size so I cannot comment on printing out larger images. The camera did all I ever wanted it to.

heres a video I found on the Kodak M1093

What do I do about the "Unrecognized file format" status of photos ON my Kodak Easyshare M1093 IS?

I received a new Kodak Easyshare M1093 IS for Christmas. I love it. It takes great photos. I can easily transfer the photos I've taken from the camera to my MacBook. I can see the photos on my MacBook fine. When I go back to the camera, though, the pictures are gone, and instead there's a gray screen with "Unrecognized file format." I've tried to delete these "photos," but they still remain on the memory card. How do I remove the gray photos, or turn them back into regular photos so I can remove them from the memory card or camera? I don't want to end up with a camera full of gray screens.

I've had the same problem with the M1033 I just got. I <think> i've figured out why it is happening on my end, so hopefully this helps you. I am not using the software that came with the camera, instead, I use the built in picture wizard that comes with Windows (I know you're using a Mac, but I think that they're similar). One of the options when I transfer the files to my PC is to delete the pictures from my device (which I do).

When I do this, sometimes - but not all of the time - if I hit the preview button, I will have the "Unrecognized File Format" errors, and cannot delete the mysterious "photos". I've found in this case, I've had to re-format the memory card (I'm using an SD card).

If I transfer the files as normal without deleting them from the device, and then delete them using the built-in camera function instead, I never encounter the problem. It's frustrating - but doesn't happen all of the time.

Is it possible to take "professional" pictures on a regular digital camera?

Such as this one:
http://nexus404.com/Blog/wp-content/uploads2/2008/07/kodak-easyshare-m1093-is-digital-camera.jpg

And do you know of any links on tips to take nice pictures? Thanks
When I say "regular digital camera" I mean a "point and shoot" camera

Short answer: No.

You can take very nice pictures with a point & shoot camera, but the sensor is too small (can't handle low light / high contras), the lens is too low quality (combined with sensor, causes many problems - esp. enlarging).

I agree that the photographer matters, but digital means a lot of the potential is in the camera/lens combo. In the film days, the camera just held the film. The lens & the photographer were all that mattered.

If you're taking pictures to make yourself happy, a p&s camera is fine. If you plan to take pro pics & make $$$, then you need a good camera (Read SLR) and lens. An add-on flash will make a world of difference as well.

Of course.

Controlling and understanding lighting is far more important than your camera. That is the secret that makes professionals professional.

That particular product shot of the camera can easily be produced with any decent 3mp camera, some strobes and a light tent.

You can take good pictures of basic scenes as long as the lighting is even and bright but indirect. You won't be able to in any difficult scenes or lighting situations because with a point and shoot you lack control over the exposure.

Some photography tips...
~take photos of everything... even things you wouldn't think would make nice photos. Watch head room on the photos. People tend to want to center the face or head and neck in a photo, giving too much room above the head in the shot. Avoid this by putting the top of the head at the top of the frame of the shot. It will make the head/shoulder photo come put much nicer. Look for natural frames in your shots. Two trees can be a frame for your shot. A sidewalk and a tree could be a partial frame. Take photos from different angles. Sit down and take photos of people standing up. Stand on a chair and take photos of people sitting or dancing. Just keep taking pictures. You may take 100 photos and only find 5 or 6 good shots, but that's all part of photography. If you have a good digital camera with a good sized memory card you'll be fine. Happy photographying.

Yes, digital is fine as long as you don't try to enlarge them.

Of course for photographs you sell in an Art Gallery you need a film camera. Digital (even the expensive ones) are still sub-standard.

Wall-sized images with crystal clarity? No.
Milliseconds froze in time on the athletic field? No.

Images that will bring tears to an eye, or that will warm a saddened heart? Yes.

Cameras are a tool, but they only make it easier to capture the artist's vision. If you have no artistry in your heart, then you have none in your photos.

Just remember what Picasso could do with a #2 pencil.
