Is the Kodak Easyshare P712 a good camera??

I like mine.

Olympus SP-500 or panasonic DMC-F27 or kodak easyshare P712? why?

cant make up my mind on which of the 3 to buy. this is my second camera but I want something good.

Here's a side-by-side comparison:
http://www.dpreview.com/reviews/compare_post.asp?method=sidebyside&cameras=oly_sp500%2Cpanasonic_dmcfz7%2Ckodak_p712&show=all

The Panasonic and the Kodak has a slight edge over the Olympus with the 12x zoom
Both the Panasonic & Kodak has image stabilization.
Kodak has a slight advantage with the higher megapixel count.

If you're concern at all with the size, the Panasonic is the only camera that can be considered as a compact....so, my choice would be the Panasonic since this will be the one that I'll likely take along with me anywhere.

I'm planning to buy the kodak EASYSHARE P712 Zoom Digital Camera... is it an SLR camera?

and what can you say about the specs??

Lens 36–432 mm (35 mm equiv.) f/2.8–3.7 SCHNEIDER-KREUZNACH VARIOGON Lens

Shutter speed 16–1/1000 sec. in 1/3 step increments

ISO sensitivity auto; 64/80/100/125/160/200/250/320/400/800**

No, it is not a SLR strictly speaking. The key is the discription "SLR-like". SLR implies interchangeable lenses.

Kodak stopped making DSLR's a while ago, although some can still be found. The last one made was the Kodak DCS SLR/n which uses Nikon lenses.

Canon and Nikon make the most popular DSLR's among professionals. Other DSLR's include Pentax, Olympus, Sony Fujifilm and Sigma.

yes it is an SLR camera witch means single lens reflex they use a mirror behind the lens that directs light into the view finder but i wouldnt recommend buying ffrom Kodak because there cameras are simply SLR like because they have no mirror, if youre looking for a more profesional look you might as well spring for a better brand like cannon

kodak easyshare p712 or cybershot DSC-H9?

Opinions supported with detail and experience, please.

The best way to choose a camera is to decide what the important features are for you, then go to the store and play with them. While you're there, ask some questions. I found Best Buy, Circuit City, and Sam's Club to be most helpful.

I recently bought the Sony Cybershot DSC-H9. I really like the long zoom, image stabilizer, 3 inch LCD, and face detection. It also has a bunch of other features that I'm only beginning of learn.

You might find that the Sony has a bunch of features you'll never use. Maybe the p712 will feel better. The H9 was right for me. Make a list of what's important for you, read some positive and negative reviews of each camera, go to the store, ask questions, play with the camera, then make your decision.

Whatever you do, SHOP AROUND!! Best Buy actually gave me $60 off and 10% off all accesseries because I said I was going to Sam's Club for the camera case.

Good luck!

i haven't personally used either of these, but if you check out cnet, they probably have reviews on both of these cameras. they have both editor reviews, and customer reviews, and may even have a comparison of the products. also check on amazon. they also have customer reviews as well as customer photos taken with the camera so you can actually see for yourself the quality of photos it takes instead of just going on their words.

Does anyone know where I can find a driver for a Kodak P712 for Windows XP?

I am not sure if this is even possible, but I want to upload photos from our camera with the USB connection without using Kodak's lousy EasyShare software. I uploaded the newest version of EasyShare on both of our computers and now I can no longer upload photos to my laptop. I would reload the older version that came with the camera but can't find the disc, and none of the solutions that the Kodak support people have given me have worked. At this point I would like to just bypass their software completely if I can, I'm tired of fighting with it. Its a great camera but its a real pain not being able to use it with my laptop.
Obviously the Kodak site was the first place I checked. The only thing they offer to solve the problem is downloading the new version of EasyShare which is what started all of the problems in the first place.

I've never worked with a Kodak P712 but I know that it can store images on a SD/MMC card instead of the internal memory. You can try using the SD card & get a card reader, then you can just access the pictures via the card reader. Hope it works.
