Kodak Easyshare V1073 VS. Sony Cyber-shot® T2?

I am going to be getting a camera for my birthday and my options are between a Kodak Easyshare V1073 and a Sony Cyber-shot® T2! Which is better?

Kodak- http://www.kodak.com/eknec/PageQuerier.jhtml?pq-path=9/11920/31/12425&pq-locale=en_US

Sony-http://www.sonystyle.com/webapp/wcs/stores/servlet/ProductDisplay?catalogId=10551&storeId=10151&langId=-1&productId=8198552921665247827

well looking at the megapixels.........the kodak but it depends on wut u are going to use it for......if its just for vacation pictures or something the cybershot will be fine, but if u want higher quality pictures the kodak is the way to go

Sony Cybershot. I had both Kodak Sucks It take 4ever for it to take a pic. and it freezes

I own the older versions of both but the cyber-shot kicks butt :) It has a clearer picture, you can go to bestbuy or something and take a few photos with both cameras to test them before you buy them.

I don't know about the Sony but I HATE my Kodak Easyshare Z612. Other people I know have had similar problems with theirs.

I've had it less than 18 months and it's been in the shop twice.

It is horrible for closeups, even with the macro.

It is horrible for distance shots inside (band hall, gyms, etc), even with good lighting.

The software is HUGE (2 GB), slow and messes with other programs.

It's currently broken again and I'm tempted to list it on eBay for $10 for anyone who likes to play around with or recondition junk cameras.

Cheaper and better ,look

I have bought a Kodak EasyShare V1073. I have seen an 8GB SD card at Kmart. Will this work in my camera?

Rusty,

Yes the Kodak V1073 can take an 8GB SD card.

The V1073 can take both regular SD cards up to 2GB and SDHC cards up to 16GB.

Hope that Helps :)

Best Regards,
Dusty

check in the back of your manual to find out

If you take a look in your owners manual, you will see that it does take SDHC memory cards, so yes the 8 GB card will work.

BUT that size card holds far too many images and if you use the proper work-flow; start with a formatted memory card, at the end of your shoot, copy all the images to your computer and once safely on the computer, format the card, you will not need a card larger than 2 GB.

Unless you shoot VERY long video sequences, you will not need such a large card.

OLYMPUS FE-340 vs Kodak EASYSHARE V1073?

wich one is best ..

Is this a real question?
Olympus. Far better with half the price.

Best Kodak Digital Camera, or Digital Cameras in general?

I'm planning on buying a digital camera soon and I was just wondering which Kodak Digital Camera is best. Some of my choices include: Kodak Easyshare V1273, Kodak Easyshare V1073, Or the Kodak Easyshare M883.

I was also wondering if Kodak is a good Camera brand & if not, Which camera do you consider is good.

Why Kodak? It's not a good brand for "Cameras" believe me.
I'd suggest to go through some reviews before you make your decision. My favorite site for this is: www.dpreview.com (You may need to know the basic elements in digital photography to make a good choice)
Finally, I'd go for Sony, Canon, Olympus, or Panasonic. Those are the really good ones.
Good Luck...

If you are looking for the best Camera - you need Nikon or Canon SLR. Try new Nikon D60 or Canon Rebel XSI

Digital camera recommendation?

I am planning to get a digital camera. I want one that is good for photos and video. I'm not a professional photographer so I don't want big ones. I want a small camera that is easy to carry around. I was thinking about the Kodak Easyshare v1073 or Kodak Easyshare v1273 camera. They take HD photos as well as HD videos. Recommendations are welcome. My budget is around $200.

By the way, what are some good digital camera brands? Is Kodak one of them?

While most of the cameras out there are really good, I would choose Canon over Nikon because it seems like more camera for the money. Some would say Canon withholds their best technology for high end cameras and Nikon implements their best at all levels. Before you decide, read all the text and links in the information below because it will help you know what to look for in a camera.

There is no one particular place to get great buys, but you may see something below that really helps you find the best buy. Click on the first link in the information below for an example then search for your camera of choice at the upper left. Camera prices at this link change often.

Just saw this camera at Best Buy and think it is a great camera and a best buy. It has an optical viewfinder, image stabilizer, auto focus, and uses NiMH rechargeable batteries. Read as much of the following as you can for other information and help with choosing a camera.
Canon A590IS $129.99 at Staples yesterday.

There are so many cameras out there it is difficult to say which is best, but digital is definitely the way to go. The second source link will be very helpful as it list most of the cameras out there with prices. The following information should help you know what to look for in a camera.

What gives a camera its picture quality?
The short answer is that it is mostly the skill of the photographer that produces high quality pictures. The lens and camera are very important, but the ability to set the scene, adjust the cameras settings, and hold the camera very still or use a tripod with auto or remote shutter actuation when required is what gets the great pictures.

In new cameras, look for optical viewfinders (LCD invisible in bright sun) and check battery prices. High mega pixel settings take longer to process and may not be needed unless required for very large pictures or enlarging small parts of big pictures. Maximum print size for a 3 mega pixel setting is 8 x 10 inches. Click links below for more details.

The information about my camera is just to show that you don't need the biggest and best. Just know how to use the one you have.

My camera has 5.2 mega pixel, but I use 3 most of the time because it gives great results, is faster, and takes less memory. Also, it only has a 3 x optical zoom and 7 x digital zoom. I never use the digital zoom because making pictures larger works better on the computer. This is an old camera, but everyone is impressed with the quality pictures it takes ... like magic.

Check with the Geeks in several stores and compare prices. Ask what cameras they own, but don't believe everything you hear. Once you select a camera read all about it in the owner's manual. Just learned that my camera has red-eye prevention and correction. It also has adaptive lighting. You may be able to view owners manuals at this link, but will need to Login. http://www.retrevo.com/s/digital+camera ...

The source links will show most of the cameras out there with prices and help make your digital cameras work better.

What's A Website Where I Can Upload Pictures, Then Other Users Review Them?

It needs to be a free service. I'm interested in photography as a hobby. I have a Kodak Easyshare Z760, 6.1 Mega Pixels. I will be getting a Kodak Easyshare V1073 before long. If you want to rate my pictures, then myspace.com/the_snoey_one. Contact me there or agoldberg316@yahoo.com

Thanks

There is a site called PhotoSIG (SIG means Special Interest Group):

http://www.photosig.com/

I have mixed feelings about it. I've uploaded a number of my photographs to that site a few years back and here's what my opinion is:

PRO: It is intended for those who take photography beyond snapshots and to get people to objectively critique pictures to get you to improve your technique and skills...
CON: Nice idea above, not sure what it is doing now, but back then it just didn't work very well. It quickly boiled down to people saying "nice photo" and basically asking "I give you thumbs up, you give me thumbs up" kind of stuff. Though occasionally they did do constructive critiques.... And giving somebody thumbs down if you didn't like the photo always carried a chance they'd retaliate and thumb you down... So it basically came the way of becoming a ratings war at times. I gave up trying to get useful critiques from that one.... But who knows how it is doing today. Check it out if you'd like.

So you be the judge as to whether you should consider using that. It does have a lot more professional works on it than flickr kind of general consumer oriented sites.

Good luck!

Camera for christmas?

for christmas i was thinking about getting the Kodak Easyshare V1073 with touchscreen. i have a canon powershot A85 , it works good but when im about to take a pic, it flicks and brings me back to where it shows my pics. is it worth getting the new one, which one works better?

People so often ask: "Which one is a good camera to buy?"
Here is my 10 cents on the subject:

Point & Shoot cameras are wonderfully handy because of their small size.
When light conditions are ideal, they even take really nice photos - all of them do.

However, they all DO have limitations - they don't do very well in low light situations (i.e. noisy photos, hard to avoid blur, etc). The little onboard flash is very harsh at close range, and doesn't reach very far.
Many of them have no manual functions, so you are limited to only very basic photos, you can't compensate for unusual situations, or do many fun "tricks" and special effects.
P&S's also suffer from frustrating shutterlag and many of them chew through batteries rather quickly.

However, if you're ok with all those limitations, then go ahead and pick one, most of them (the same type and same price range) are rather similar. Personally I would pick either a Canon or a Nikon, and would certainly stay away from Kodak.

A higher end P&S will give you more manual options and better quality. Many of those even give you the option of adding a proper flash (which makes a big difference to your flash photos).

Don't worry too much about megapixels…. there is a limit to how many pixels you can squash into a tiny P&S sensor before you actually LOSE quality rather than gain it.

Decide which features are important to you, and look for cameras that have that feature.
Then go compare a few models on www.dpreview.com .

The very best thing you can do for your success is to borrow some books and learn about basic photography. A bit of knowledge will make a much bigger difference to your photos than your choice of P&S camera can.

For what it's worth - if I was in the market for a P&S camera right now, my choice would be a Canon Powershot SX10 IS http://www.usa.canon.com/consumer/controller?act=ModelInfoAct&fcategoryid=144&modelid=17630

Oh, which camera to buy?

Okay, so i'm looking into buying a digital camera. It should be in the $170-$300 price range. It's main use is for still pictures but it should be able to take videos as well. I travel a lot, so nothing too fragile. I love all of the techy gadgets (touch screen, on-camera editing). I'm pretty good at figuring these things out. I was looking at the Kodak EasyShare V1073... any ideas?
i've been looking at some sonys. What do you think?

While Kodak is an old name in photography their current cameras are all considered low-end products. I've had excellent service and image quality from the Canon brand.
