Can I use my Ni-mh batteries instead of a CRV3 in my Kodak Z1085 IS?
The manual for my Kodak EasyShare Z1085 IS specifically says, "DO NOT use alkaline or ni-mh batteries for the camera." It says I can only use the Kodak KLIC-8000, a disposable CRV3, or disposable AA lithium batteries.
What's the reason for this? Will the ni-mh batteries explode if I use them? I just bought some rechargeable ni-mh Sanyo Eneloop batteries for other purposes, and I'd like to use them for the camera if I can. I believe they are 1.2v and 2000 mAh.
I've had an Easy Share for 2 years, and have always used alkalines and occasionally ni-mh batteries when they were charged up. No, ni-mh can't blow up from being used in a camera. They will lose voltage quicker, and if you don't some spares, like alkaline, you would be caught by surprise.
Alkalines can leak, if left in for a long time, so just don't store it for extended periods of time with them in. I take the position that it's my camera, and I'll put what I damn well choose in it.
And no, never had any problem with it.
