Best Rechargeable batteries for a Kodak EasyShare Z1285?

For Christmas, i received a Kodak EasyShare Z1285 12mp camera; but the only problem is the batteries. Standard AA batteries are useless and run out too quickly, so i want to purchase some rechargeable ones. Which is the best make and the ones likely to last the longest? Thanks.

NiMH rechargable batteries are the way to go. There are two types of NiMH batteries, standard and the newer low-discharge. The standard NiMH batteries that you find at the drug store have a shelf life (battery sitting on a shelf not doing anything useful) of about 2 to 3 weeks before needing to recharge them. The newer low-discharge types have a shelf life of months.

Standard NiMH batteries are fine if you use your camera a lot and find yourself recharging the batteries once per week. If you find that the camera sits around for 2 weeks doing nothing, then get the low-discharge types. Best to get two sets of batteries so you can use one set while the other set charges. Plus, you'll have a spare set when you need to shoot lots of pictures.

If you can't find low-discharge types locally, then mail order. Be sure to get a good charger. Maha is considered good.

How do I fix shaky videos with Kodak Easyshare Z1285?

every time I try to take a video, the camera shakes around trying to focus on whatever is moving (even when it's secure on a tripod). I've tried looking in the manual and online but can't find anything that helps.

see if you can turn off the face detection

Do i need an HD memory card if i have a HD camera? (Specifically the Kodak Easyshare Z1285 DigitalCamera)?

I am planning on purchasing a new camera and i was looking up memory cards when i came across and HD memory card; i was wondering if i needed that specific one for the camera or if i can just use a normal one.

You dont need an hd Memory card for your camera. Your camera uses the MMC/SD Card. I dont think there is any diference (other then the material) between an HD memory card and a regular Memory Card. So yes you can use a normal one.

no

HD memory card? Where did you find such a reference? Certainly not in your cameras manual.

Here is a link to the specs of your camera

As you can see your camera uses SD/SDHC/MMC cards .. those are all they use, not CF, not xD, not Memory Sticks.

Kodak easyshare Z1285 Vs. Sony Cybershot DSC-W120?

Kodak easyshare Z1285 Vs. Sony Cybershot DSC-W120
i really need to know what should i get wich one is better..

By far the sony, Kodak may of been good for film..but there digital camera's quality are under par. My rule of thumb ( its not ALWAYS true...) anything made by a japanese electronics company is better than american. Right FORD vs HONDA?

I have a sony cybershot an it's great. If you're still looking around "PENTAX" digital cameras are really good..stay clear of kodak and HP.

Hope its helps! Also ask the people in the store ( if there not under commission, its better; BEST BUY?)

get the sony. always

Digital Camera Help? Kodak EasyShare Z1285 good camera?

Ive been wanting a digital camera for a while now...so I started to search for one and stumbled upon the Kodak EasyShare Z1285

It looks good and looks like it has good specs even though I dont know much about digital cameras...I know its a good price for the performance.

This would be my first digital camera, besides cellphone pictures. I always like taking pictures with other people digital cameras, and I want one alot. My mom doesnt want to spend alot of money but, the thing that stood out to me is 12.1 mp + 5x optical zoom and 5 digital zoom...for 179!!!! I dont think you can beat that for the price...

I need some feedback from an experienced person with camera knowledge!
Price range looking to spend 150-200$
I found this camera also

Canon Powershot a720 IS

From what I read from ePhotozine review, Kodak EasyShare Z1285 is nice camera for that cost but I would recommend you to look more closely of what Canon has to offer. If you are concerned about resolution, that certainly isn't the most important issue about digital camera. It's more important to get camera with good and sharp lens so that picture will be sharp.

You can compare different cameras with tool made by dpreview that allows you to choose several cameras and put them side to side: http://www.dpreview.com/reviews/sidebyside.asp

I haven't used any of Kodak digital cameras (at least not during last 7 years) but whatever the brand is, you should choose what is good for your style of use. Also, it could be useful to go to test different camera models to local camera shop to find out how cameras feel in your hand. While they may have much more limited selection of cameras, it could help you to find what you are looking for.

Another thing to consider when buying camera is it's User Interface. Different cameras work in somewhat different ways and testing it at store is good way to find if you like to use it or not (you are using camera as tool to capture your life so that tool should to good to use).

Whatever you choose, all good to learning of photography. The most important thing is inside your head, not in the camera. Camera is just a tool to capture what you see and while it has limitations, it's the amount of thought you put to taking photos that matter most. Learn to find what kind of photos you like and after that try to emulate different photography styles to find out if you can do them also. All good things to your learning and may you have nice photos. :)

Help people who own a kodak easyshare z1285!!! ?

yeah. i don't know how to turn the flash off!!! please tell me directions on how to turn the flash off!

Somewhere on the camera there should be a button that looks like a lightening bolt press it and try taking a pic. If there is still a flash, press it again... and so on until the flash is gone. (it will take at most 3 times) Good Luck!

(URGENT!!!!!!!!!!!) Kodak Easyshare z1285?

is this a good camera? its around 180.00 it has 12 megapixle, 5 times opticle zoom, and takes hd video and pictures. But i have been reading reviews and it says it dosent have image stabilization, is that bad? Does it really make that much of a diffrence? this is urgent easy 10 points!

you don't really need image stabilization unless you're going to be taking pictures in low light without flash or you have quite shaky hands. it really won't make any difference if this is not the case.

12mp will allow you to get very high detail pictures which you can print fairly large and 5 times optical zoom should be enough to cover most situations. i would say it would make a nice pocket point and shoot camera.

I need help deciding on a camera, right now I am looking at the Kodak EasyShare Z1285 and the Aiptek Action HD?

From what I understand, the Aiptek takes better video but the Kodak takes better still photos. I travel a lot so I want to be able to take decent photos, and I also want to take nice videos. I actually want to start making You Tube Video's for my current sales job. The Kodak is 12 megapixels, while the Aiptek is only 8. However the Aiptek records in 1440 x 1080 @30 FPS or 1280 x 720 @ 60 FPS, while the Kodak does 1280 x 720 @ 30 FPS. The difference being from my understanding is that the Aiptek would be better for shooting motion. I would like to be able to record at a sports game for instance. The Kodak is $179 and the Aiptek is $199. Any advice is helpful. Thanks.

People so often ask: "Which one is a good camera to buy?"
Here is my 10 cents on the subject:

Point & Shoot cameras are wonderfully handy because of their small size.
When light conditions are ideal, they even take really nice photos - all of them do.

However, they all DO have limitations - they don't do very well in low light situations (i.e. noisy photos, hard to avoid blur, etc). The little onboard flash is very harsh at close range, and doesn't reach very far.
Many of them have no manual functions, so you are limited to only very basic photos, you can't compensate for unusual situations, or do many fun "tricks" and special effects.
P&S's also suffer from frustrating shutterlag and many of them chew through batteries rather quickly.

However, if you're ok with all those limitations, then go ahead and pick one, most of them (the same type and same price range) are rather similar. Personally I would pick either a Canon or a Nikon, and would certainly stay away from Kodak.

A higher end P&S will give you more manual options and better quality. Many of those even give you the option of adding a proper flash (which makes a big difference to your flash photos).

Don't worry too much about megapixels…. there is a limit to how many pixels you can squash into a tiny P&S sensor before you actually LOSE quality rather than gain it.

Decide which features are important to you, and look for cameras that have that feature.
Then go compare a few models on www.dpreview.com .

The very best thing you can do for your success is to borrow some books and learn about basic photography. A bit of knowledge will make a much bigger difference to your photos than your choice of P&S camera can.

For what it's worth - if I was in the market for a P&S camera right now, my choice would be a Canon Powershot SX10 IS http://www.usa.canon.com/consumer/controller?act=ModelInfoAct&fcategoryid=144&modelid=17630

how much does it cost to fix a digital camera?

my camera, Kodak EasyShare Z1285, has a cracked screen and will still take pictures, but the screen doesn't show anything. how much would it cost to fix this?

dunno for Kodak
recently had the same problem with A Fuji and it cost £50
have a look on the Kodak website and see if they have a repairs process
