Which is better, the Nikon coolpix 4100 or the coolpix S200?
A couple of years ago I bought the Nikon coolpix 4100. I needed to take quality pictures and since I couldn't afford a digital SLR camera (to replace my good film camera), I decided to buy the Nikon coolpix 4100. I have been satisfied with it (I know it's not the same as an SLR). The only thing I don't like is its size. I needed a camera to carry with me when I am with my friends (to take those simple pictures when you are socializing) so I decided to buy one of those little ones point and shoot cameras regardless the quality. So I bought the Nikon Coolpix S200. My plan was to keep my previous Nikon coolpix 4100 to use it when I needed high quality photos and use the little one for socializing. After comparing the pixels I was surprised when I saw the the coolpix S200 can take pictures up to 3,072 x 2,304 when the coopix 4100 can only take up to 2,288 x 1,712. So is the little one better than the bulky one? (and yes, I will sometimes need those pixels to enlarge photos)
Nobody can answer this question better than you can. You own both cameras, so you are in the position to do your own side-by-side comparison. Just do it and come back and you tell US which is better. I'd suspect that the newer camera with the newer softare and more pixels would be the better of the two, so without seeing anything, I'd vote for the S200.
nikon coolpix 4100. need to download pictures but no program in to download pictures from digital camera?
I lost the CD to download the program in the computer
If you have your pictures in an external memory you dint need software to download them you just have to put you card into a card reader and a folder with your pics will open in your computer (click on my pc, then click in external drives) from where you can copy them to your pc
If the pictures are in your camera or you dont have a card reader other than the one is inside you camera plug your camera to you pc and start the camera wizard and it will open a window with your pics select them and copy them.
P.d.- It is possible you can find the software of your camera in the Nikon website
Hi i got this nikon 4100 coolpix camera and i wanted to know how can i download my pix on the computer.?
i had bought the camera for 50 bucks and when i take pictures and get ready to download them on my computer nothing comes up but you can here the clicking sound when i put the device in the computer...but could it be i need an memory card to be able to download my pictures or could it be something else please help me??
A memory card will easily solve your problems. However, just plugging your camera to your computer via USB should just about get you what you need. I say just about because on my Olympus digital camera I need to change a setting in the menu to output what it has stored to my PC via USB.
If you don't have the original manual, try going to Nikon online and looking for it. I'm sure you'll find all your answers there.
Good luck.
THE OTHER WAY IS TO INSTALL THE SOFTWARE THAT CAME WITH YOUR CAMERA, AND PLUG IN THE MINI USB CORD (THAT ALSO SHOULD'VE COME WITH YOUR CAMERA) INTO YOUR COMPUTER & CAMERA.
I HOPE THIS HELPS!!
Nikon Coolpix 4100 lens fault?
I switched the camera on connected it to the Laptop downloaded some pictures, disconnected the wires, switched the camera off and the lens failed to retract and the legend Lens Fault came up, I tried switching on and off even took the batteries out, fitted fully charged ones, any Ideas?
I have a coolpix 5100 and i had the same problem some time ago. O.K i used a risky strategy of forcing the lens in against a soft pad. It did the trick to get the lens back in and I have never suffered the same issue since. I am not suggesting that you do the same but it is what I had to do. I think that I had a grain of sand in the mechanism from the beach and this clogged the retracting gear. But like i say it worked for me.
Hope it helps. Good luck.
Nikon coolpix 4100 camera problem...?

Nikon Coolpix Video Encoding Apple Format?
Hi. I have a nikon coolpix 4100 camera, that i take video with. Unfourtuneately, i have a windows computer without apple suitable format software to edit (windows movie maker i am using) and well i can not use any of the videos i take. Is there a way that i can make the camera encode in Windows format, not in apple, so I don't have to use a transferer? They don't even work that good the buyable transfer software.
Thanks
Unfortunately, the camera can only record videos in the format that's preset by Nikon. However, you can convert the video after you've downloaded it to the computer. Here's a good website to find guide & utilities to convert video from/to various formats - http://www.videohelp.com/convert
How to download a home video to the internet?
So I have a Nikon coolpix 4100 and idk how to get a video file to a file that I can open on you tube. Please I need help this video is very important.
How do I change size of pictures?
I have a Nikon Coolpix 4100. When I take pictures, then download them to my computer, they are huge. The pictures are usually a 1700x2288. I have the InfrView program, but I only know how to change them one by one. I'm not very familiar with the program (to know how to change them all at one time), and I have quite a few pictures that I'd like resized. Can anyone help me?? Is there a way I can adjust the settings on my camera? Or do I have to adjust it on my downloading software? Or do you know how to resize bulk pictures on InfraView???
Please help!!!
Thank you!
So, do I just have to change the size of the pics when I get them downloaded if I want the high resolution?? What is a good program that will let me edit many pics at the same time?
If you have Windows XP, go to this site and download the "image resizer" It doesn't take up hardly any room.
Once you load the pics onto your computer, view then as icons. Hold down "control" and highlight the ones you want to resize. Once done highlighting, right click on one of the images, and you should see "resize image". Click it, and you can make them small, medium, or large. It will save your original, and make a new copy of the resized image. Small is good for myspace, and emails. Hope this helps.

Help with my camera?
I have a Nikon Coolpix 4100 but lost the cord to connect it to the computer. The memory card I am using is a SanDisk SD (256 MB). On my computer is Windows Xp. I don't know if any of this matters. But anyway, I inserted the memory card in my printer, and I know it was in there right because the green light flashed until it was solid. But I can't seem to find my pictures anywhere on my computer. Does anyone know where I can find them?
>click on start button
>right click on my computer
>click explore
>find your SD card it should be :D, :E or :F
good luck
When I use normal digital camear auto mode to shooting the photo in hall , the photo is usually shock . Why ?
My Digital Camera : Nikon Coolpix 4100
If using manual mode , what is exposure and white balance to use ?
What is incandescent or florescent lighting means ? The hall lighting is orange , which one I should use ?
There are scene mode like indoor/party , but result are terrible too.
The camera does not support manual ISO , but able to adjust exposure and while balance.
The shock photo is the image looks blurr , multiple face overlapping.
Fluorescent lights are those long tubes found in ceiling fixtures in schools and offices. Improper white balance will result in greenish-yellow images.
Incandescent light is the standard light bulb found in table lamps. Improper white balance will result in orange-reddish images.
IMO you need to READ & STUDY the Owner's Manual for your camera. There should be a section devoted to setting the white balance under different lighting conditions.
I would also like to know exactly what you mean when you say: "... the picture is usually shock."
