How do i fix the battery door on my Nikon Coolpix 7900 digital camera.?

how can I take a photo of lights at nightime with my Nikon Coolpix 7900?
I have been given a Nikon Coolpix 7900 camera and last night, I tried to take a photo of outdoor lights in my garden/candles. I tried various scene settings but either the flash came on or if I turned the flash off - I couldn't get a photo of the lights/they looked dull. The lights in reality were really bright. Is there any way I can take a photo of the lights, without the flash, so I can get a clear bright reality photo of what they look like?
Although your camera has a tripod socket, its minimum shutter speed is only 4 seconds. Fortunately, that's sufficient for some night/low-light, non-flash photography. However, you will need a tripod.
My ever-present FotoSharp (http://www.fotosharp.com) Day & Night Exposure Guide suggests the following:
Scene # 11: Floodlit buildings, fountains; Outdoor Christmas lights; Candlelight close-ups
ISO 200
f4 @ 1/2 sec.
f5.6 @ 1 sec.
f8 @ 2 sec.
f11 @ 4 sec.
Since I don't have your camera or the Owner's Manual, you'll have to do some research to determine if you can set the f-stops manually. If you can't, then you're at the mercy of the camera and the Night Scene Mode.
NOTE: Trying to judge a scene's brightness by eye is seldom accurate. Here is a simple experiment you can try. In a dark bathroom put a 4 watt nightlight in the wall outlet. Now give your eyes time to adjust. You should be able to read a newspaper 3 or 4 feet away from the light source. Now try taking a reading with your camera. Its likely you'll get an "Error" message.
What is the maximum capacity of SD Memory Card I can use for Nikon Coolpix 7900? (512MB, 1GB,2GB etc)?
check your manual
it is probably 1gb
the next step up is 4 GB but your camera needs to accept SDHC which it does not (I looked)
Nikon Coolpix 7900?
Okay I am looking for a new camera. I have taken a liking to the Nikon Coolpix 7900. Does anyone here have an opinion of this camera? It would be much appreciated.
Thanks for the link, but I was lookin for user information.

rate of nikon coolpix 7900 in inidia?
rate if digital camera in india of nikon coolpix 7900
I rather prefer the Nikon 8800, but for amateur pictures the 7900 is still great ... and cheaper.
Cheers.
It has a really silly fault - there is no lock to prevent accidental switch-on (something that happens very easily). This is a problem because the lens moves out when switched on. If its in its case this means it struggles against the case until the battery is dead!
Can the metadata show whether the Auto setting or a particular Scene mode was used with my Nikon Coolpix 7900?
I open photos with Nero and as far as I can see the file information given for ‘Exposure Mode’ and ‘Scene Type’ are not the places to look. Any help appreciated.
I'm afraid I don't have Photoshop. Would like to stay with Nero for the moment as its more than adequate for my usual needs.
Nikon's Capture NX, View and Picture Project. I think that Picture Project and View came with your Coolpix ... it came with my Coolpix SQ.
For those who have Nikon DSLR's the Image Comment is shown as well.

Looks like Columbia Photo Supply in Cubao might be your best bet:

Which of these two digital cameras would you recommend? (Canon S80 or Nikon Coolpix 7900)?
Please be specific on why you chose that camera. I would really appreciate your feedback on this.
cannon, have one, its the best.
My video won't upload in Windows Movie Maker, what do I do?
I have a Nikon coolpix 7900, and all the videos I take with it won't upload in Windows movie maker.
WMMaker only accepts limited video formats like avi and mpeg files. Your video file is of another file type since it is taken by a digital camera with video capability.
To upload your video to the computer, just copy the digicam video file to the computer through the usb port. Use a video file player like Real1 or Windows media file player 11 (download from the internet) for video playback.
If you need to edit your videos using the WMMaker, get a video conversion software (download from the internet) to convert your video file to a file type recognized by WMMaker.
You can Download such softwares from sites like cnet.com
Glad to be of help
Thumbs Up!
Is it possible to record a video directly to a computer (instead of to memory card)...?
...Using my Nikon Coolpix 7900? If so, how?
That's not quite what I meant, but thanks anyways. :)
connect your cam to your pc and use your software provided with it. it`s impossible not to have some program that would do this
