Can I make my Nikon Coolpix L1 digital camera take infra-red photos?
I am wondering if it is possible to shoot any sort of digital photos with my Nikon Coolpix L1 at night (without flash, for those that might suggest the obvious). Are there any special lenses or attachments that I could purchase that I could rig up to do so? I've seen other digital cameras with the IR attachment on top and a "night shoot" option shoot great shots in the dark. So would I have to get a camera specifically built for that purpose, or can something be done?
NO
Here are some links that will help you pick out a nice used camera you can convert.
Does anyone have a Nikon Coolpix L1 that can help me stop blurry pics?
I have a Nikon Coolpix L1 and it has been working fine but then all of the sudden it started taking blurry pictures && I dont know how to fix it. what should I do?
I'm really surprised that this camera got such good reviews. I bought mine in Japan just before it came out over here and I find that it cannot handle any subject movement at all and takes terrible, blurry pictures. I can never get a snap on-the-fly as it is bound to be incomprehensible, meaning I never use it anymore. It wasn't cheap though, so I'd love to know if thee is a way of sorting this out.
How do I delete all pictures on my Nikon Coolpix L1 Digital Camera?
I am currently uploading all the photos (1342) and once it is done I want to delete everything off the memory card, because I put my memory card in my printer, and it is uploading them to save to my computer. Once I put the memory card back in the camera, the pictures will still be here, but I can't figure out how to delete them all. And obviously, deleteting 1,342 pictures at once will take forever. Please help!
put ur card in card reader and delete all
to format...with the card in the camera ...go to Setup menu and scroll down to "Format Memory/Format Card"... select it and click Format after the "Will erase all" warning comes up. on the next screen select "Format"... not "Quick Format". Reason being...if you just had 1342 picutures on that card you want a FULL format... a Quick format is really not a full delete...but just a delete of the card status info. It will take some time to finish depending on your card size...but this is good preventive maintenance. One of the main reasons people get card error and corrupt memory cards is because they dont format often.
Dont listen to this uninformed answer below who said just use delete all. Even the Nikon L1 manual tells you format regularly (page 46)
good luck
or....jsut go to the option " dlete all pictures" option...ALL cameras have that
I'm trying to find a skin or cover for a Nikon Coolpix L1?
I have searched online and can't find a skin for this older model Nikon. If you know of anyplace that makes them, please let me know.
You want something that covers the whole camera and not just the screen right? Doesn't look any company is making a silicone or rubber type cover for this camera (at least not in my couple of minutes of searching), but I did come across this a pre-cut protector that supposedly covers the camera. See link below.
Nikon coolpix L1 camera help?
I have an older digital camera, the Nikon coolpix L1. can anyone tell me how to increase the time the shutter is open, like a time of more than 2 seconds?
I just had a look at the manual for your camera. You seem to have certain shooting modes, but no manual control over the shutter speed as such.
It is one of the limitations of those tiny P&S cameras.
Malaysia/Singapore Prices of Nikon Coolpix L1, L2, Canon Powershot A700 or anything similar?
Hi,
I'm going to be visiting Malaysia & Singapore soon and wanted to know the street prices of Digital cameras - Nikon Coolpix L1, L2, Canon Powershot A700 or anything similar as available in Malaysia and Singapore.
Would the warranty be applicable in any other countries if I buy there?
Trying to guage whether it would be beneficial to buy it there rather than in India..
thanks in advance
I'm not very sure about the prices though, but I do have many Indian friends who have their relatives buying back eletronic items like cameras in Singapore to India. They must have their reasons I guess.
There are a few places you can start your shopping in Singapore tho':
1) Funan Shopping Centre :-
Mainly computers, but the major camera labels have their servicing centre there, like Canon. Prices are usually fixed but reasonably market-priced. You would hardly bump into a cunning merchant here.
2) Sim Lim Square :-
You are required to be a little more street smart when shopping here. That's all I have to say. Compare prices as you go before you make your purchases.
If luck is on your side, you could get what you desire at a steal.
Happy Shopping!

Nikon Coolpix L1 or Canon Powershot A530?
I want to buy a new camera, and this two are my options. Which one of them is better?
http://www.dpreview.com/reviews/compare_post.asp?method=sidebyside&cameras=nikon_cpl1%2Ccanon_a530&show=all
Personally, although I love my Nikon DSLR's, I'd choose the Canon A530. The presence of an optical viewfinder is a major factor for me. The Nikon has a longer telephoto range, but no vibration reduction to go with it. It is 6 MP instead of 5 MP, but that is not enough to offset the disadvantages of not having an optical viewfinder. This is my new rant for the month of November.
I lament the passing of the optical viewfinder and I would choose almost any camera with an optical viewfinder over one that only has an LCD viewfinder. Why?
1. You never have the option of turning off the LCD and these things eat batteries for lunch and spit them out. Why do away with the option of a viewfinder that has zero electrical drain?
2. You have to hold an LCD viewer out at some distance in front of your face. This is more conspicuous than I prefer to be all the time.
3. The need to hold a camera at arms length will introduce some shake. I like the idea of stabilizing a camera against my face when I am taking a picture. This is especially important with a longer zoom lens. No wonder "image stablization" or "vibration reduction" is necessary with these cameras. Not that there's anything WRONG with IS or VR, but it is really a requirement with LCD viewfinders and telephoto lenses.
4. Using the LCD to view photos after you've taken them slows down the camera quite a bit. You can't shut of the LCD monitor and still take pictures if you don't have an optical viewfinder.
