Is $139.99 a lot to spend for a Nikon coolpix L14 and a 4GB SD Memory card?

I've never found the 4GB for less than 29.99 even on ebay

Try this camera. I think you'll be more satisfied with it than the coolpix. It's only a bit more, but it so much better. I just bought one and I already love it.

Casio Exlim EX-Z77 (7.2 mp)

Features-
Best Shot Mode for different places (Outdoor, Shade, etc.)
Flash Modes (Soft Flash, No Flash, Flash on, Red Eye Reduction.)
Anti-Shake.
Face Recognition (Makes sure faces are clear and not blurry.)

Pros-
Pictures are really good quality.
Videos are NOT blurry at all, unless you zoom in all the way, which is highly uneeded.
Very slim structure. (About 3/4 inch wide)
Rechargable Lithium Ion battery included.

Cons-
Texture of camera is slippery, but it comes with a strap.
Battery/Card compartment it tight and is difficult to get out battery and card.

Silver- http://www.buydig.com/shop/product.aspx?...

Both are $147 with FREE shipping.

its decent you could probably pick up the camera for a rough 100$ and you could get a 4 gb sd for 10-15 bux so its a decent deal because its a package and you dont have to get the memory from another site

how do i clean the lens of my coolpix L14 nikon camera?

while camping i dropped it on the damp, soft ground. when i turn it on i can hear the sand grinding, and it either says "lens error", or the display screen is just black. When it doesn't say lens error, i can take a picture, but it just turns out black(I can still see all the pictures i took before it was dropped).
How can i clean it myself?

First the dirty lens is the least of your problems ... for that you can read this

http://www.kenrockwell.com/tech/cleaning.htm

You need to call (800) NIKON-UX and have them help you find a repair station nearest you.

You can not clean it yourself! And the more you play with it, the more harm you are doing to it Call Nikon, and find out where you can get it cleaned and repaired. It won't be cheap. And from now on, use the wrist strap at all times when you have it out of the case so you don't drop it again.

On the Nixon Coolpix L14, can you download video clips to your computer?

try reading the manual

yes. theres a usb to camera cable supplied

Nikon Coolpix L14 or Canon Powershot A470???

Hi everyone, Please help me decide which camera to buy between Nikon Coolpix L14 and Canon Powershot A470. Both are great cameras in my opinion, and are really inexpensive. Both cameras have features unique to each other but I really need help! So nikon l14 is good because its CHEAP (99 bucks) and lasts long (1000 shots) and it has great design. But it lacks any image stabilization tech. Canon a470 on the other hand, has most of L14's features plus an image stabilization tech, and "a better face detection" and a way better macro mode with a price tag of just a bit over 130 bucks canadian But the battery life is average (400 shots). So ya which one should I buy both are good and I can only get one. So thank you for your help in advance.

Last time I knew, the A470 did not have the image stabilization so I checked 3 reviews and all of them agree that it does not have image stabilization.

Also for the amount of pictures the Nikon claims it takes, is when they are using the high end Lithium battery. I noticed most reviews for the Canon shows using a rechargable battery, which will not last as long as Lithium batteries. It would take approx. two charges to meet the life of the Lithium battery. As you may find out, those batteries are expensive! If you use rechargable batteries in the Nikon, it will cut the amount of pictures down about 1/2.

Face detection in a couple reviews with the Canon is known to be problematic. They seem to show that it causes a good amount of lag time. They recommend using the center focus, and then moving the camera to the desired spot.

I really think you are paying more for a better lens with the Canon, there for it is worth it. Something you need to consider, will you really be using the macro mode within a CM of the object. Remember you'll need a tri-pod most the time when your that close. However in good daylight outdoor pictures, within the 4 inches, you will get some awesome macro shots with the Canon.

Also consider, while it lacks in the amount of scene select options, the Canon has a little bit more manual programing features, thus giving you a little bit more flexibility too!

If your the point and shooter, the Nikon is a great little camera.

But if you like taking close tight shots, and you like playing with setting, the Canon is bank for the buck!

Nikon Coolpix L14 "Distortion Conrol?"?

Hi, so I've been doing my research on the Nikon Coolpix L14. I know that it lasts up to 1000 with a lithium battery, its really inexpensive, really compact, 7.1MP, and NO IMAGE STABILIZATION (which is fine). Now in the Nikon site, I came across the Features section and it mentioned something about Nion L14 having "Distortion Control" as part of it's features. Now, I just want to know what is Distortion Control? I mean it can't be Optical Image Stabilization since it is not supported, so maybe it's a digital stabilizer? I don't know really so please if anyone know please tell me. Thank you very much in advance ^_^

Distortion control corrects barrel and pincushion distortions which usually appear at the extreme focal lengths (wide or telephoto ends) of a lens. These distortions are very apparent when taking pictures of straight lines or buildings when zoomed out all the way; lines seem to bulge out in the center of the picture.

Read more about image distortion here:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Image_distortion

The option on the L14 can do one of two things (I can't say for certain which it is since I don't own the camera):
1. Focal length and other necessary data is saved with the image and the correction is applied in post-processing with Nikon's included software.
2. Correction is applied in-camera after the image is taken.

Which camera: Nikon Coolpix L14 or L15?

I am having trouble deciding which camera to buy this holiday season. I am not a huge picture taker, I just want an easy to use camera that takes good pictures, and doens't cost an arm and a leg. I've narrowed down my choices to the Nikon Coolpix L14 and L15.

Here are the links to the camera specs for both:
The L14-

And the L15-
http://nikonusa.com/template.php?cat=1&grp=2&productNr=25584

I am mostly debating the battery life of the L14 against the image quality of the L15. It'd be great if someone who either owns either of these cameras could tell me some pros and cons, or if someone who knows a lot about cameras could check out those links for me and tell me what you think. ~Thanks

L14 is the older model. And battery life, I wouldn't worry about it. Battery life greatly depends on how much you use the camera, and how long it stays on.

I'd go for the better picture quality any day, and if it takes AA batteries, just get a recharger pack and keep a couple charged and ready to go!

good luck!

Does anyone have Nikon Coolpix L14 7.1MP Digital Camera? if u have tell me how was it how good is it?

i had powershot a70 which is now not working. It is giving me red picture that is all it does i called them they said ccd is not functioning they will repair it if that is the case....i dont know what to do.

bye

For the price, you can't go wrong.

You might find that a similar Nikon with IS (like the L15) will help you get better photos when shooting without a flash in available light. The $20 or $30 more may be worth it to you over the three or four years you own the camera.

You are right. Cool pix L14 is better.
