I commonly used rechargeable batteries but in rare case when I insert new non rechargeable batteries in to my camera it does not work properly, display shows exhausted batteries, but it is fully loaded. what is the reason and remedy.

Though disposable batteries give out more voltage (1.5 versus 1.2) They cannot give out as much amperage. Few digital cameras will work with zinc carbon batteries (the cheap so called "heavy duty" batteries). Some digital cameras will not even work with alkaline batteries (such as Duracell). If you need to use disposables try using lithium batteries such as the Energizer lithium though they are expensive. The blue labeled ones are more expensive but last longer than the yellow labeled ones.

If you plug a Coolpix L20 into your computer's USB port, does it look like a USB disk drive to your computer?

In other words, can you go to "My Computer" and see the JPEG files on the camera, without installing any software? Or do you have to use the software supplied with the camera? And can you delete some of those JPEG files, the same way you would delete any file on your computer? Or do you have to do that from the camera, and/or move the SDHC to your computer's SDHC slot to delete files on it?

Everytime i turn my Nikon Coolpix L20 on the screen is white, why is that?

IDK whats wrong with it. It was working one minute and i turned it off. When i turned it back on it the screenb was white. It still takes pictures but i cant see them unless i put the card in my computer.

try this.

remove the batteries from the camera for a few seconds.
Replace the batteries, and press the "PLAY" button on the top of the camera.
This will turn the camera on, in playback mode.
You should see any pictures that are stored on the memory card.
If you still see a white screen, then your display screen is broken, and will need to be repaired.

If you do see the pictures during playback, then I'd guess that the "review" mode is set to "Off"
This means that the picture won't display on the viewscreen after the picture is taken.
you can turn this on (as well as adjust the duration of picture display) in the menu.

how to transfer videos from my coolpix l20 to facebook?

i am having alot of problems with transfering videos.
how do i save and send it to my facebook. will i be able to make it a windows media player and save it.

I don't use facebook but, I guess you have to upload it to your computer and then upload the pictures from your computer to facebook somewhere on the site. I'm also guessing that you have to click browse and a window will pop up and you have to search for the file and then double click it and then the window automatically closes and then underneath it, it will probably say "Upload" and then yeah you wait and then you got your pictures on facebook. REMINDER: THIS IS JUST A GUESS. DO NOT BLAME ME IF THIS IS WRONG.

okay so i only wanta couple of pictures saved on to my computer wheni first plugged it in imported all my picstures to my computer like i wanted but now i have to import them again so i can put the other pcistures that i took on there so basically is that everytime i want to save the pictures to my computer i have to copy them all over again

Instead of using the software provided by the Nikon, try opening the removable drive that will appear on "My Computer" folder. The drive will have the camera name as the name of the drive. Browse through the drive till you find the photos you want and the simply click, drag and drop then on to a folder in your computer.


The other way is to buy cheap (less then $5) memory card reader. Insert memory card into the reader and plug it in using the USB chord. And the again simply find the photo and move them to the folder you want.

Which is a better camera- Canon A480 or Nikon Coolpix L20?

As I am student, I don't want a really costly camera. I did some search and found these two models were fit for me. Which one of the two should I buy based on the picture quality?

Canon compact cameras generally tend to be better than Nikon compacts. However, no compact camera is perfect, especially a budget priced one...but the A480 still produces very good quality images (in good lighting).
I doubt if you will be disappointed if you buy it...

Is there a certain trick to this cord, or was I given the wrong one?

It's either the wrong one or it's damaged.
Look at the end carefully and make sure it is exactly the same shape as on the camera. Make sure that there aren't any little things sticking out the wrong way or bent. If you see something that looks bent wrong, carefully bend it back the right way with a toothpick.

Every time I use Auto Mode, It takes a while for the picture to take and if you made the slightest movement in that time, all the lights look 'smeared' as if it was using Time Exposure. How do I get this to stop?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!
