Can and how do you fix the flash on a Nikon Coolpix L4 digital camera?

I have a Nikon Coolpix L4 digital camera and the flash just stopped working one day but everything else about the camera still works perfectly (and can still take wonderful pictures in natural light if its bright enough.) Is it possible to get the bulb replaced? Would I have to send it in to a shop or could I do it myself? Can it be done at all? I love this camera and I want to do everything I can to get it fixed.

You would have to have it repaired by a Nikon repair shop. Call Nikon and ask how much it would cost, and where the nearest repair facility is.

I called Nikon regarding my flash not working on my Coolpix L4 camera and they said I would have to send it in for service. I have fresh batteries, all the settings have been reset, and are placed in the proper settings... It appears others have had the same problem and was wondering what the cost is to fix this issue, as my fiancee gave it to me as a gift. Or would it be better to just go out and buy a new camera (probably not Nikon)? Thanks for your help

If you haven't dropped it or gotten it wet it may be covered by the Warranty. Send it in for service. All you have to lose is the cost of postage.

Firmware is always available on Nikon USA's website.

However, your camera's flash failure may have nothing to do with the cameras firmware.

I really need help, my dad's camera is messed up. It turns on fine and turns off without a problem it the thing is that when you take pictures a bunch of vertical white lines appear
on the picture. HELP PLEASE i`ll bE iN SO MUCH tROUBLE =[[. And I already tried resetting the camera- it doesn't work.

When you copy the pics to your computer and look at them on there do they still have the white lines in them or are they ok?

If they are ok on the computer then there is just something wrong with the monitor and not the imaging chip or electronics.

If the lines appear on the photos when you look at them on the PC then there is a problem with the imaging chip or electronics.

You can still use the camera if the pics look ok on your PC. If this is the case you might try pressing gently on the screen (hold the cam in your hands and press the screen into the body of the camera (i.e. towards the lens). Don't press too hard though. There might just be a loose connection.

If the lines appear in the picture when viewed on the PC you will have to send it to Nikon for repair. If it's not covered under warranty it is not worth having it repaired because the repair would cost almost as much as a new camera.

If this is just a simple cockpit error on my part then i won't have to contact nikon... hopefully... but before i do contact them can anyone make any suggestions?

dont fix ur self go to the nikon service center and they will fix it for free..........

only half of the Lcd screen is working. Is it possible to get a replacement Lcd screen panel or is that part hard wired in and not replacable. thanks for all input.

Page 18 in your user manual. Press the flash mode button on the Multi Selector (the big one with a lighting bolt, flower, and a timer) on the back of your camera press the lighting bolt side until the line through the lighting bolt (in the LCD) then press OK.
