How do you turn on flash on Nikon Coolpix L5?
I pressed the lightning button above the OK button but nothing happens, what do I do to turn it on?
First turn the camera on. The lightning button above the OK button displays the Flash Menu, you then need to use the Up/Down buttons to select the Flash Mode then press OK.
You'll find full instructions in the manual here - http://www.nikonusa.com/pdf/manuals/noprint/L5_en_noprint.pdf

how to upload pictures from a Nikon coolpix L5 digital camera?
or
Install the software, put the camera in playback mode, hook your camera up via the USB cord that came with your camera and turn it on if it doesn't come on automatically, go to MyComputer and open your camera's drive that way.
How many snaps can be taken from nikon coolpix L5 camera with built in memory.?
The Nikon L5 is a 7.1 megapixel camera with 8mb of internal storage.
You have to buy an SD card (I recommend a 1GB Sandisk Ultra II or Extreme III).
because 8mb will only let your store about 2-3 photos at the best resolution.
i bet it says in the manual
picasa is a Google's photo software. It's what should've come with your camera.
It can Edit , organise and Share you picture and small video flips.
It's very easy to use and is free, just like Google
Download it free in here:

Good Luck!
Problem with Nikon Coolpix L5 digital camera and Toshiba Satellite Laptop.?
The computer does not recognize this camera and does not accept photos. Bought a card reader. Result same problem. I have Windows Milennium Edition. maybe that is the problem.
Shoiuld buy a new XP with Pentium processor?
I would say its definately worth investing in a new PC. Millenium Edition is probably the worst operating system Microsoft released and when people phone me for help on these i refuse to provide help. The reason there maybe problems is you may have USB 1.0 instead of USB 2.0 so if you are not in a postion to buy a new PC then you should invest in a USB 2.0 PCI card but i will warn you that the Nikon software may not even be compatible with Windows ME.
Finally you should check the specification of your computer as you may be able to just purchase/download a copy of Windows XP instead of investing in a whole system. If you need specific advice and guidence then just click on my profile picture and email me ill email you back and guide you through this (im unemployed at the moment and need to keep busy... going a bit crazy!)
Do any of you have a Nikon Coolpix L5?
Do you like it? Care to share any pictures you took?

Olympus stylus 740 or Nikon Coolpix L5?
I'm looking on getting a new camera and I'm looking at the Olympus stylus 740 and the Nikon Coolpix L5. Both have 5x optical zoom and are 7MP. They both cost about the same but which one would be the better buy?
I vote for coolpix L5
Nikon Coolpix L5 Digital camera?
I purchased this Nikon L5 Digital camera about one year ago. I tell you what. Worst camera ever... I have yet to get a good picture with it. If everyone stands still, it's ok of a picture, but if there is any movement, my picture is blured. Yes I have tried all the setting, changed the shutter speed, tried more light, I even tried the different pre-set settings. Still no good pictures. Has anyone else had the same problems with this camera. maybe I just have a defective camera.
It seems that you are using a slow shutter speed ... too slow to be hand held or catch movement of your subjects.
While there is aways a possibility that you could get a defective camera, you need to call Nikon's help line and see what they can do for you before your year warranty is up.
Nikon USA's free live tech help line, (800) NIKON-UX, is open all the time, 24/7/365.

I would urge you to consider the Canon Powershot A630 in your price range. I have literally tons of Nikon cameras, including some entry-level point and shoot cameras, but I think this Canon is what I would buy in a point and shoot today. Besides the fact that I just think it's a better camera, my rant for the month is to oppose cameras with no optical viewfinder. NONE of these Nikon's have optical viewfinders. Here are my reasons:
I lament the passing of the optical viewfinder and I would choose almost any camera with an optical viewfinder over one that only has an LCD viewfinder. Why?
1. You never have the option of turning off the LCD and these things eat batteries for lunch and spit them out. Why do away with the option of a viewfinder that has zero electrical drain?
2. You have to hold an LCD viewer out at some distance in front of your face. This is more conspicuous than I prefer to be all the time.
3. The need to hold a camera at arms length will introduce some shake. I like the idea of stabilizing a camera against my face when I am taking a picture. This is especially important with a longer zoom lens. No wonder "image stablization" or "vibration reduction" is necessary with these cameras. Not that there's anything WRONG with IS or VR, but it is really a requirement with LCD viewfinders and telephoto lenses.
4. Using the LCD to view photos after you've taken them slows down the camera quite a bit. You can't shut of the LCD monitor and still take pictures if you don't have an optical viewfinder.
Canon powershot A540 or Nikon coolpix L1or L5-which is good buy for home use?
i want a decent dig cam for home use.iam located in india.plz give reasons for choice and the order of preference.i also want the price to be less around INR 12000/-.(L5 is new model and priced more by a bit)
http://www.dpreview.com/reviews/compare_post.asp?method=sidebyside&cameras=canon_a540%2Cnikon_cpl1%2Cnikon_cpl5&show=all
The L5 has a bit more zoom and it also has image stabilization, which is why ot costs more, I am sure. It's got a bit more power in the flash, which might make a difference for kids birthday parties, etc.
The Canon seems to offer a lot more user control if you are interested in moving on beyond simply using a few "auto" modes and it also has an optical viewfinder.
Personally, I think I'd lean towards the Canon from your selections. It isn't quite a "fancy" as the L5, but it is well-proven and it is an excellent camera.
I can't stand it that cameras are doing away with the optical viewfinders!
If you do not have an optical viewfinder, I think you ought to look for image stabilization, because it's harder to hold a camera still when it's not braced against your face.
Having problems with transfers of photos from Nikon Digital Camera Coolpix L5 to my Toshiba laptop Satellite 1
what kind of problems, can you be more specific... without knowing the nature of the problem, it could be a number of things, I'd suggest getting a card reader, and not connecting the camera, directly to the computer.
