Can anyone assist me on how to use my WIFI on my NIKON COOLPIX P2?
I have lost my USB cord & my manual, I have only my camera. I need to get some pics to my computer and I remembered that my camera has WIFI but I just never took the time to figure out this feature.
Loosing the manual makes it tough. Each WiFi configuration is slightly different, so eventually you are going to have to find another manual to use it.
You can buy a card reader for under $10, use it and save all the hassle you are going through now.
But you'll need the cable and CD to set it up. Looks complicated. Good Luck
Do I have to set up the date and time settings on my Nikon Coolpix P2 every time I charge the battery?
I take out the battery in order to charge it, and when I put the battery back in and turn the camera on, I am asked to go through the set up all over again. It really seems like a waste of time to edit the date and time to do it then.
How would I make my camera hold onto the time and date? I've tried it once already, and it was really annoying to have to program it again. I do not have an AC adapter, because it costs extra money that I do not have at this time.

some cameras also have a very small battery the size of a watch battery that is specifically designed to hold your settings (time and date included). so you can revive the main battery and keep all the settings.
check your owner's manual for further details, as not all cameras have this
if u yank the batteries out when the camera is on, then it would need you to reset the date and time, [truss me, i had a Nikon Coolpix 3200] but the other than that, the camera should be smart enough to understand that the batteries need to charge.

According to completed Ebay listings the Olympus Stylus Verve does sell for more. I don't like the awkward size of the P2 but it is a newer camera. Anyone know anything I don't that would help me make the decision?
I think you should stay with the Nikon. It has a higher mega pixel, more optical zoom, and a higher rating from users. Plus it is a newer camera !

Nikon P2 Coolpix Camera - Making me Crazy! Pictures are dark and many are blurred?
I have a Nikon Coolpix P2 camera. I have to stand 3 feet away from my subject in order to get a flash picture to come out right. Outside it takes great pics but indoors it sucks big time! Does anyone have any advice?
I have tried working with the settings, I have tried calling Nikon (they told me to reset to factory settings - duh!).
The "scene" settings are much to ambigious. They almost never fit the situation and besides who in the heck wants to be fumbling for a setting when all you want to do is take a picture!
I got this camera as a gift - it was a welcome and wonderful gift however, it is turning into a nightmare as I struggle beyond words to "operate" this very disappointing camera.
My suggestion at this point in time, is to find someone who has considerable experience with photography and ask them to use the camera indoors and see if they think there is anything wrong with it.
If they agree with you then send it back.

it's easy. Does you computer have wifi card? If so, just turn the wifi on, and set the camera to wifi mode. Make sure you do not have any firewall installed on your computer, it will block camera to detect your computer.
Then follow the instructions on your digital camera manual. It's not difficult at all. The only hard part is to set it up on the computer.
Oh also, when you install the drivers for the wifi card on your computer, it will ask you for some details such as computer name, password settings etc, just follow the instructions.
Nikon Coolpix P2?
I have a Nikon Coolpix P2 when I take shots indoors it's really dark. Outside my pictures are perfect. I have read a few books on the subject but I can't see to get it to work right. Is there a setting you can suggest that might increase the light that hits the sensors or somthing for indoors only?
Has anyone else had this problem with Nikons'?
The camera is at it's most light sensitive when you do the following 2 things:
* crank the ISO up (with my old CoolPix 8700 the maximum was 400, but anything over 200 produced poor image quality.)
* use shooting mode aperture-priority, and keep the aperture number as low as possible (with my Coolpix, that was 2.8)
If you use the flash, you can ignore that advice - but the flash will only work up to 10 feet.
what accessories go with a nikon coolpix p2 camera?
all i got was the digi cam the battery and memory c ard there was no other additions in the box and i cant get the place where i bought it to fix the problem
What else was it supposed to come with? That sounds like everything to me. If you need a usb calbe to import the pics into your computer, just go to Radio Shack like any other electronic illiterate and buy one.

Unless the camera is still under warranty, it's almost always too expensive to fix vs. buying a new camera. I'd suggest contacting Nikon to get an idea on the repair cost, so that you can make an informed decision.

I see COOLPIX and I think you mean NIKON. If so, you can probably get it from Nikon's website but you probably don't need it. Most computers recognize today's cameras and you should be able to access your photos via the USB cable or a card reader and download them directly using Windows.. I have found most of the manufacturer's software to be inferior compared to just using the program on the computer and then editing them with other software. Hope this helps.
