How can i get my computer to recognize my Nikon Coolpix p4 camera?

My computer used to recognize it. I had it wiped and used a VAIO recovery disc to put everything back on. Now the computer won't recognize.

Yes it won't recognize u r nikon coolpix as u have restore u r old setting ,
to recognize to need to load driver for nikon again

hope it will work

1. if it is USB, then XP will pick it up automatically and install the driver for it, (Listen out for the USB chime when you add new hardware to USB ports.) or XP will ask for the CD.

If you dont get a chime, you need to do a static discharge, this discharges all the static electricity that has built up from your boards. To do this, all you need to do is keep your pc connected to the wall socket, but switched off at the wall, and then push and hold the power button for about 30 seconds, your pc will not turn-on which is correct, after 30 seconds, turn it back on by the wall start up as norm then try again, you should get the USB chime then.
If this does not work, you have already reinstalled all the software back to original factory settings, try another USB port (AND DONT USE A HUB!) if still not working, then it would be a Hardware fault with Marvin the Motherboard.

DO NOT RESTART THE PC WITH THE CAMERA CONNECTED! Always make sure that you ONLY connect
the camera when the pc asks for it during the installation, not before, otherwise it will not recognise it, the only time this exception should be broken is when connecting a wireless USB keyboard & mouse set.

:)

try
a. installing the drivers of the cd if there we're any that came with it
b. removing the device, turning it on then plugging it back in while on
c. rebooting the system while the camera is still pluged in

other than that im sorry your on your own :)

re-install drivers, reboot, connect your nikon.

how can i use my nikon coolpix p4 as an web cam?

How do you take good pics w/ a Nikon Coolpix P4?

Specifically, how do I take good pics of a band performing in a small club using natural light? The flash seems to wash everything out. Do I just need to buy a digital SLR? Or, are there some tips anyone can share using a high quality digital point/shoot camera?

I had the same problem and tried two different techniques.

From the pre-set scenes try the museum setting which stops the flash from shooting all together and keep the shutter open for longer. Of course you'll need to have steady hands or use a small tripod on the table. If the band is moving a lot they will be blurry, But the colors will be what you are looking for.

A similar mode is the Party mode this one uses a slow flash burst that illuminates the scene but keep the shutter open to allow the natural light and yellowish indoor atmosphere to take over the flash effect. Again some blurring might occur.

Is The Nikon Coolpix P4 Digital Camera good?

Heyy ppl=]
is the nikon coolpix p4 really good?
just wondering because i might get it.
and how many frames per second does it use for the video recording?
and how many seconds/minutes does it have for each video?
thank you very much for the answers.
see ya

If I was buying a point and shoot camera today, I think this would be my personal choice based on my very good experience with other Nikon camera. I've owned (or bought for family) a Coolpix 775, 885, 4300, 4600, and 5400 and they have all been excellent choices for their intended purpose.

I'd choose the P4 for the VR (vibration reduction) feature. It is an optical image stabilizer and I have a Nikon VR lens for my SLR that is extremely effective, so I would hope they use some of the same technology in the P4.

I have no knowledge or interest in the video capabilities, so I can't comment on that. Go to http://www.nikonusa.com and look for the P4 under Digital Cameras and you'll find all the information you are looking for.

To be fair, here is a link to a mediocre review that you might want to read.

I dont know about the specifics, but Nikon is a good brand from what I have heard. I am thinking about getting the 4600, so if you find out any new info about the brand, let me know!

Nikon Coolpix P4 "VR" lens, does the VR really work in low lighting, or just a name to sale more cams?

It helps.

It will reduce the effects of camera shake but may not completely eliminate it.

Technique in holding the camera and squeezing the shutter release are important factors in reducing camera shake.

In really low light a tripod is still a good idea.

It has to be true or they would be in hot water with the FTC.

Here is a link that will explain it.

i agree with you cos i am looking at the canon IS series and sony body steady shot ....did anyone test it out like taking a pix of a candle ,tele lens, 300mm,in dark room hand held and posting the result in flicker?Problem is lens IS is $$$$ about $1000!!

VR really works (up to 4 stops), but remember that it helps cancelling the photographer's shake, not the move of the subject...

What is the difference between the nikon coolpix p3 and p4 digital cameras? Also which is a better buy?

The only difference I can find between the P3 and P4 is that the P3 includes 801.11b/g WiFi (wireless) connectivity for about $50 extra.

Which is a better buy depends on whether you want to pay for the convenience of wireless connectivity.

did someone experience by himself the nikon coolpix p4 how does this camera performing?

It makes amazing pictures for a point and shoot camera. Getting to know the camera and its functions takes a little time though.

If you want to get in touch with more Coolpix users go ask in the forums here:

Which is better Nikon Coolpix p4 Or Canon powershot A640?

I like to take photographs both indoor and out door.I like a camera which will give me sharp and clear picture. And my hands are not so steady!!!!!! Help!!

It depends on what you want out of your camera.
They both appear to be pretty good digi cams, and can be had for about roughly the same price. ($300-$400 USD) Here are some basic features/differences between the two.

They both have the same sensor size and the zoom ranges are fairly similar, and the same for the aperture, with the differences as to be barely noticeable between the two.

The differences are a bit more noticeable with the P4 having no manual focus, and no other apparent non-auto focus modes (i.e., aperture priort/shutter priority; program mode). This is really where the canon become the clear winner based upon specs alone, it being a 10MP over the P4's 8MP, along with full manual controls (manual focus as well) it also has both shutter and aperture priority mode, along with full metering, and the ability to add an external flash for added versatility and experimentation.

Both Canon and Nikon give excellent pictures from their point and shoots, but you mentioned a bit of unsteady hand and the Nikon has one major advantage and that is of image stabilization so that may be a selling point for you.

From pure versatility and the ability to have a bit more control over your pictures though I would go with the Canon as you can control your aperture and shutter speed and make adjustments for not having the steadiest of hands.

Canon Powershot A630 or Nikon Coolpix P4?

Which would you recommend and why? Do you know which has less shutter lag? Thank you!

i would so go with the canon. in fact, i am ordering this camera offline and it should be coming anyday now. this camera looks nicer and more professional. for the shutter tag, i would have to say that i bet the nikon has a less tag because i know that the canon has a longer shutter. Although the nikon has a smaller shutter tag, i would still go with the canon(i like the flip out screen)
