HowTo Clean Nikon D70s Sensor
Here is a short video tutorial showing you how to check for dust on your sensor and clean your sensor using the blower method.

How do I make my computer recognize my Nikon d70s?
Ive had my Nikon d70s for about two months and was uploading flawlessly, and easily up until about 2 weeks ago. When I plug my camera into the usb, it does nothing. Ive even taken my compactflash out and plugged it into my computer and that does nothing as well. I have my camera on and it even reads "PC" on it.
Please help me out!
what brand is this compactflash? sometimes cheap ones just fail eventually.
What is the problem for my Nikon D70s?
I bought a digital camera Nikon D70s. It is a kit with 18-70 Nikkor lens. I also bought a SB800. There are always dark places in the corners of pohotos when I use fill flash.
1. What is the problem in technical use?
2. If it is lens deficiency, which zoom lens I should buy in this range to correct this defect.
The most likely cause is that you are not putting the wide-angle diffuser in place. The SB-800 coverage is supposed to be adequate for a 28 mm lens, but for a wider angle than that, you need to pull down the wide-angle diffuser from the top slot of the unit and flip it into place. This should carry you out to 14 mm. You can also attach the diffuser dome that came with the SB-800 for the same coverage and, perhaps, more even lighting.
If that doesn't solve your problem, perhaps you have a filter on your lens that is causing the vignetting and you just didn't notice it in more evenly lit pictures. Try taking off the filter, if there is one there.

"The dark border is caused by the lens used and aperature used. All lenses are best in the center and are worse in corners. It depends on the lens if corners are horrible or bad or acceptable or good. You can make corners better by stopping the lens down to aperature 8 or 11. This is a well-know problem for 35 mm film and full-frame chips.
If you use a 35 mm lens on APS size chip then you use only the center of the lens so you don't have dark corners but you use only a part of your lens.
How to avoid lens flare? Use a dedicated lens shade to avoid light from sides. Don't use any filters. Clean front element of your lens. If you have lights in the picture that are causing lens flare you can try to change aperature. You can try to make the flare a compositional part of your picture. You can try to change the position of your camera. Lastly, use a better lens that causes less lens flare."

I have a nikon d70s and the flash has stopped working?
I gather my camera knows its not working because now it will open the lense for longer.
It just wont work. On Auto or any other setting. I've done the two button reset, menu reset and the manual button reset (under the camera)
Nothing has worked...
Anyone know??
Could the bulbs be blown or something?
While your camera is in Auto mode, hold the flash button on the side of the prism and rotate the rear control wheel. In the top lcd display, watch to see if your flash in enabled. You'll see the flash symbol go from lightning bolt (on) to eye (red-eye reduction preflash) to no flash (lighting bolt crossed out)
Let me know if that helps.
Take or send it to a Nikon authorized service center.
(800) NIKON-UX is the 24/7/365 help center
Or you can buy an external flash like the SB400.
Where can i find a cheap nikon d70s or a canon similar to it?
I want a cheap d70s or a canon, i don't know much about canons though, can someone tell me some places that are trusting and reliable. Thanks in advance....
I went through ebay and there wasn't that many bundles as there were a year ago when i looked. I'm looking for one with lenses and memory cards.
ooo d70s been discontinued. CRAP!!
You can't use the word cheap and Nikon in the same sentence...Beware of mail order though. And avoid "grey market" cameras...
How can i take black & white photos with my digital SLR Nikon D70s?
I have checked the manual but can't see any settings for this. I don't want to have to manipulate the photos afterwards. I would rather it is taken in B&W to begin with as though i had used b&W film.
This is not an option on this camera.
However, I have found it to be a quick procedure to open my pictures in Paint Shop Pro for example and change it to Grey Scale. I had good results too. Sometimes , I have had to add more light, but nothing to hard to do.
Nikon must have thought that Black and white are something of the past :-(
I suggest using Picasa, Webshots, or Photoshop. If you have the Nikon software...obviously that, too.
This will give you a rubbish low contrast image.
You really need to tweak the individual levels of each colour channel before desaturating to get best results.
For example, for landscapes you might want to empasise the green and blue colour channel over the red, for protraits the red channel becomes the most important.
If this sounds complex then you aren't going to be very satisfied using digital cameras for B&W
you'll have toget a new camera to do this or a new nikon body atleast
If you want the look of b&w film you'll have to buy b&w film.
What is the best affordable macro lens for my Nikon D70S?
Also, where can I buy it on line at its best price?
There are a few Sigmas that cost less than your D70s.
For online, one you know the exact model of the lens that you want, go to http://froogle.google.com/ and enter the lens and your zip code. It will suggest local stores plus any web sites that sell it.
If you don't mind, post your final choice here, I got a D50 and macro is next on my list of lenses to buy.
How do you manually reset a Nikon D70s?
I've recently been having some problems with my camera and im hoping reseting it to factory settings will help.
Two ways:
1) look for the green dots on the camera. Push and hold the buttons next to the green dots.
or
2) look on the bottom of the camera. There's a rubber covered button on the bottom (it's very small). Pushing that is a "last resort" reset. If you're having serious problems, that may be the way to go.
Why does my Nikon D70s have so much grain?
I have the ISO at 200 but no matter what when I use a flash (sb600) it has a lot of grain and doesn't look good at all.
i have a Nikon D70s DSLR camera. how can i take black and white and sepia images with it?
do i have to edit the pictures or does the camera have a feature, ive looked at the camera settings and found none. how can take those pictures thanks!
The camera should have that feature. read the manual that came with it.
Or you can always edit the pictures using a photo editor software.
how to get a natural color from optimize image custom setting for d70s?
I have tried varieties combination for sharpening, tone comp, color mode, saturation, and hue adjustment. However, the pictures came out too dark (too orange or yellowish). What is the best combination, or should i just use the normal option?Pictures that i took from auto are nice, but i cant play with this function much, i want the natural color from M, A, S, P settings? Thanks for your help!
Change the colorspace, here is a detailed explanation on how to do custom tweaking on the D70s:
