NIKON FM10

Is the meter inside the my Nikon FM10 supposed to work with a new lens?
I got a new Nikon Nikkor 50mm lens and I put it on my Nikon FM10 and the little meter inside the viewfinder isnt working. Is that supposed to happen?
I assume you're writing of the Nikon 50mm f/1.4 G AF-S lens? That lens does not have an aperture dial (the "G" designation) and will not meter properly with your FM.
You want the Nikon 50mm f/1.4 AF D lens that does have an aperture dial.

How much does the camera Nikon FM10 worth?
I got a camera Nikon FM10, with Zoom 35-70mm, Flash achiever 828, Flash achiever 630AF & a old Tripod. The instruction manual are still intact. All of them still function well. How much do u think each individual worth, during recession year 2009?
The FM10 and FE10 were beginner models manufactured for Nikon by Cosina. The quality is nowhere near a "real" Nikon, and both models were dropped after only a few years, allegedly due to reliability problems.
In this digital day and age, even classic Nikons like the FM/FM2, FE/FE2 and even the F3 aren't commanding anywhere near the sort of prices they did a few years ago. 35mm film cameras in general, and entry level models in particular, really aren't worth much these days.
The lens is probably worth as much as the rest put together.
Like new? $200
Average ( few scruffs ) $150.
Go on ebay.com, and see what they are selling for.
How much can i sell a Nikon fm10 package for?
how much do u think i could sell a Nikon fm10 for with the original manual, body, Nikon Speedlight SB-18 Flash, 35-70 mm lens, 28-80 mm lens, Telephoto 300mm lens, and a black camera bag for? I m going to get a Nikon d40, so i need to sell my fm10 w/ stuff. I m wondering how much so i can sell it on craigslist or ebay.
ya, the cost of buying and developing film can accumulate to an outrageous amount of money
ya, i know that the 35-70mm is Nikon cause it came with it
Are the lenses Nikon lenses, or an off brand with Nikon mounts? You will get more from Nikon lenses. Hard to tell what you can get. I've been told that flash units don't sell well. Camera bags don't sell well either. Maybe $100-$150 for the camera.
Hope this helped!
How do you open the back of a Nikon Fm10?
It's not a nikon fm10 but it's close. I got a friend's old film camera every thing manual so i need a manual to.
Pull the knob with the film rewind level up to release the back.
Here is a link to the user's manual:
If you cannot find the model number of the Nikon for us, just take it into a camera store and have them show you how to open the back, load the film and check that the film is going through the camera.
Also tell us what lenses you have too.
What is the size of the viewfinder of the Nikon FM10?
I just wanted to know the magnification of the the FM10's viewfinder. Like, how big is the image you see when you put your eye in the viewfinder to focus?
Is it as big as the old Nikon F and F2?
Magnification: 0.84x with 50mm set at infinity
Frame coverage: Approx. 92% with 50mm focal length set at infinity
I do not know about the Nikon F, but the current F6 says:
Magnification: 0.74x with 50mm set at infinity
How similar is the Nikon FM10 to old 35mm SLR cameras?
I want a new slr and this model is still pretty new. But I want to know how similar it is to the old cameras. I know that it is made of plastic. I need to know if everything is controlled by a knob or if there anything is automatic. It would be helpful if you could compare it to the Canon AE-1P. Thank you.
FM-10 is actually a model made by Cosina and marketed by Nikon. The camera has everything basic in it that's needed.
Some features-
Fully manual camera.
Flash sync 1/125
Depth of field button
Multiple exposure lever.
Shutter speed from 1 to 1/2000 sec with Bulb mode.
Center weighted metering
Mechanical shutter.
Viewfinder has a matt focusing screen with split screen and prism collar in the center.
Metering is displayed in the viewfinder as three LED's in red and green using '+' 'o' and '-' symbols.
The features it lacks-
Spot metering and evaluative metering modes.
Aperture priority and Shutter priority modes.
The problems with this model -
Metering error at lower shutter speeds when ISO is changed to anything above 100. It's due to a simple method of setting the ISO. There's a way around it that can be easily mastered on using the camera.
Viewfinder is set to around -1 Diopter (useful in slight myopes to people with normal eye-sight) and so for people with other power corrections (glasses), it's difficult to use.
The kit lens (35-70) is not optically very good.
There's nothing automatic in it apart from the mechanical timer that can be used as a mirror up and timer to release the shutter on its own (if you consider this automatic).
Compared to Canon AE-1P this is a very basic model but it's compatible with almost every Nikon lens (except some very old Nikkors and new Nikkor DX lenses) made.
A slightly better model than FM-10 is Nikon FM-2 which has been discontinued but you might find it used and in good condition.
I use a Nikon FM10 for my black and white photography. I need to purchase a flash for nighttime photography.?
What flash is recommended for use with this camera?
I'm looking for recommendations from other photographers who have either used the FM10 or understand the camera.
Vivitar 283
How do I install film in my Nikon FM10?
I got this camera from my aunt as a gift, she had owned it for a while, but has lost interest in photography. She had lost the manuel for it, and I dont know how to put film into it. I would also like to know how to change the lens. Hope that wasnt too confusing. Thanks!
Open the back of the camera, place the film spool in the trough to the left, pull out enough film to slot the leader into the take-up spool.
Some cameras have an automatic spooling facility which means you just lay the leader into the takeup trough, close the back of the camera and it threads itself. In the absence of this facility, you will need to thread the film into the take up spool (quite simple) close the back of the camera and press the shutter button. Use the wind lever and the shutter button and advance the film until you see frame number 1 come up in the window. You should now be ready to take pics.

I am considering buying a Nikon FM10 camera. How does the FM10 compare to the FM? ?
FM10 is made by Cosina or something like that. I think it's a terrific learning camera. You have to set everything yourself. You think before you shoot every single picture and you're in total control (which is the only way to learn, and to master photography).
The original FM is quite old (it got started in the 1970, I think). I had FM - then it got stolen, so I got FM2 - which was and still is a great camera.
They came out with FM3, and sadly it's been discontinued.
can someone give me some more info on the Nikon fm10 film SLR?
ok...i want it for xmas and im confused if it's a film SLR or just a film camera.
It's a film SLR.
Here's info from Wikipedia: The Nikon FM10 is a beginner or student level, interchangeable lens, 35 mm film, focal plane shutter, manual focus, single-lens reflex (SLR) camera introduced in 1995.
The FM10 has a shutter speed range of 1 to 1/2000th second plus bulb and flash X-sync of 1/125th second. Its dimensions are 139 x 86 x 53 mm, and it weighs 420g. The camera is finished in black with champagne chrome trim.
