Olympus FE-100 digital camera problem. Any troubleshooting ideas?
On my pressing the power button, the cam's lens cover opens, it slides out, slides back, and then the lens cover closes again. I've changed batteries, but nothing seems to help. Any ideas of what's wrong with it?? Thanks!
Make sure it is not in demo mode. Some stores allow customers to get a feel for the camera, and there should be a way to take it out of demo mode.. they do that for electronics to show the function, rather than what it can do, like microwaves, etc... You can press the buttons, press start, but it is not really cooking something...
1. Check with the store you got it from, and make sure it is out of demo mode.
2. Check to see if you have a memory card inseted correctly, most newer cameras will not even turn on until there is a memory card inseted.
3. Make sure you do not have any connectors (USB) connected to it, some models do not operate when it thinks it's in file transfer mode.
4. Make sure you are using either the rechargable batteries that came with it, or Li-On batteries... alkaline, or "heavy duty" batteries will not work.
If all else fails, just contact the manufacturer. They may even replace it if they cannot determine what is wrong (it could be a firmware thing)

I recently received an olympus fe-100 digital camera but no guide book. What is SHQ, HQ SQ1 & SQ2 exactly.?
I just want to know what kind of pictures each one of those settings takes and how to use them. Thanks
Super high quality, High quality, Standard quality 1, and Standard quality 2.
For pictures, this ranges from 2272x1704 pixels to 640x480 pixels.
For video:
Super high quality: 640x480 lines at 30 fps
High quality : 640x480 lines at 15 fps
Standard quality 1: 320x240 lines at 30 fps
Standard quality 2: 320x240 lines at 15 fps
I have an Olympus FE 100 and I have dropped it. The lens will only partially come out or retract.?
Can this be fixed? It will still take pictures
sorry
it needs repaired by a service center
I have an Olympus FE-100 that the screen is broken-- can it be fixed?
Yes. Most of the time it can't because it is rather difficult. At radioshack you'll have to ay about $120.00, that is the estimate, but because of the screen value and delicacy it might go up to $200, and most of the time they can't even rapair it. Most of the time you are better with a new one.
Dropped my digital camera on the ground..... ANY way to fix it?! (Olympus FE-100)?
I highly doubt it... but I dropped my digital camera about 3 feet off a table... the lens was open. It wouldn't shut... just made the "closing noise". I tried to force it close but it's just messed up.. Very frustrating..
ANY advice on how to fix it? Thanks in advance if so..
It would probably cost more to have it fixed than to buy a new one. I would take it to an electronic shop first though and get an estimate before I proceed with anything. Good luck!
Repairs - at your expense - will likely cost as much as a new camera. You may as well begin shopping for a new camera.
why dosen't my olympus fe-100 have sound?
my olympus camcorder dosent record sound. is there any way to fix that???? it dosent pick up sound on the camera or my pc. can someone please help me!!!!
Your camera does not have that feature.
It provides Quicktime movie mode w/out sound, 320x240 HQ and 160x120 SQ quality at 15 fps (usually sound is available on cameras that have the 30 fps feature but, you have to ask before you buy).
This information should be in your camera's manual
does a Olympus FE-100 have a webcam?
can it be used as one?
Yes, as confirmed by the notation of their specs:
Motion picture QuickTime Motion JPEG®*.
The Olympus FE-100 costs about $50 less than Olympus's top FE-series model, the FE-120, but you'll give up significant image quality, a burst mode, a dozen scene modes, and motion-picture capture with sound. This bare-bones digital camera is closer to the Olympus FE-110 in features and image quality.
I own an Olympus FE-100 4.0 mega pixel digital cam. The lens doesn't work now because I dropped it! Help!
I dropped my Olympus digital camera while the lens was out, and now the motor is jammed. (I can't close the lens.) I'm really bummed out because I love taking photos and this camera means a lot to me. My boyfriend bought it for me for Christmas. I haven't even had it for a whole year! I took my camera to the electronic store where my BF bought it to find out if they can repair it. (Warranty has expired!) I was told that once the motor is jammed, there's no way to repair it. Does anyone know if this is true? I'd like to take it to the camera shop, but I don't want to pay a fortune on repairs. I don't want to buy a new one either. Anyone have any ideas?
Unfortunately, the cost of repairs for electronics anymore are so expensive that the broken piece of equipment has to be VERY expensive before it makes sense to repair it.
It CAN be repaired, but it will cost more than a new camera. I'm afraid you'll have to buy a new or used camera.
One hint, if you love your camera so much that you decide to buy a used one from an auction site like eBay; do yourself a favor and find out what a new one from a local store will cost. I've seen way too many people pay outrageous prices on eBay because they got caught up in bidding fever and bid WAY too much.
can anyone help me wit problems wit olympus master FE-100. it does not want 2 transfer pics. can anyone help?
If your using the Olympus master software. Have you tried to disconnect the camera from the USB cable then reconnecting it? Does your computer recognize the camera. Are you able to use the Olympus master program to see your cameras pictures? If your able to get the program to see the pictures but are unable to transfer the pictures, try to reinstall the software.
Olympus FE-100 Can you solve this mystery?
I've had my Olympus 4.0 mgp digital camera for a couple of years and I'm very happy with it. However, when I changed its 2 AA batteries for fresh ones this morning, I found myself unable to close the battery compartment; it was as if the batteries didn't fit! When I tried to replace the 2 used batteries, suddenly they didn't seem to fit either! Eh??? The camera still works but what on earth could have happened here?
I haven't dropped or damaged my camera in any way and, when I removed the 2 used batteries, the compartment was perfectly closed before I opened it. Can anybody explain this? Please help!!!
Have a look to see if there is an obstruction in the battery compartment.
There may be something stopping the batteries from sitting properly, therefore you cannot close the cover.
DO NOT start poking any metallic object around in there, if you have to use a pointed object use a cocktail stick CAREFULLY.
******************* EDIT ******************
Just had another thought, you have put the batteries in correctly haven't you? I don't just mean one upover and the other downover. I have an item that takes two AAs and they must be in the correct position (the one downover at a particular side of the chamber) before the cover will fit.
