Olympus FE 170 review
www.enidhi.net/2007/01/first-v ideo-on-this-blog_07.html Review of Olympus FE 170 Digicam with description

i dropped my Olympus Fe-170 digital camera and now it won't work.how much is the cost of repairing the camera?
the screen of the camera is blank whenever i switch it on.
The Olympus FE-170 is a budget camera. Which means it's not really worth repairing...it will be cheaper to just buy a new camera.
What type of memory card is used in a olympus FE- 170?
My mom bought me an Olympus FE-170 digital camera for x-mas, and i was looking on ebay for a memory card that goes with it, but there are different types of XD-picture cards. There is M, H and none at all. does anyone know which one goes for this camera? Or can i use any of them?
Thanks.
Your camera can use M type and H type...up to a maximum size of a 2GB card.
Here is an excerpt from the Olympus FAQ page...
"The Type H card provides improved write speeds (two to three times that of other types of xD-Picture Card media) so images and movies will be saved and formatted to the card more quickly. This means there will be less time to wait between shots and movies can be recorded in greater resolution".
So, I would recommend the 'H' type card.
I have an Olympus digital camera FE-170, but now I can't transfer images to computer.?
The message that comes up says that the softwear doesn't recognise a camera on the computer (or something like that). I have uninstalled then reinstalled the softwear, but no difference. Please help!
Go get a card reader from your local camera store or big box store (walmart, circuit city, ect) and find one that will read XD cards (those are the cards found in Olympus cameras). This skips the whole camera step as you take the card out of your camera, put the card into the reader, and plug the reader into your USB plug. It's really easy to do and you don't need additional programs on your computer. It also doesn't drain the camera batteries because you dont use the camera at all to upload your pics.
If you don't want to do that, you might also try calling up Olympus and asking them what to do.
I have an Olympus FE 170 camera, should I( be able to use it as a web cam?
Before you ask another question, do a search for your question on Answers. You will be amazed how many times your question has been answered.
Generally NO.
The technology is very different.
A very few do, but that feature is listed on the box, in the advertising and in the manual so if your camera did have that feature, you would know it already. Also a special "video streaming" program would be on the CD that came with your camera.
I need help - with my Digital Olympus FE-170 camera?
I'm trying to put my photos onto 'My Pictures' on the computer. I tried and now my photos have disappeared and my removable storage disc (Disc E) has disappeared off my screen. Also when I put my camera on to transfer the images - all there is - is a blank screen. I hope I haven't done anything to my camera or computer. I'm totally new at this. I'd appreciate any help, please. Many thanks
do this .:
un plug the camera
uninstall all of its programs
reinstall them
and re connect the camera using another usb port on your pc
than everything will go back to normal
I lost the software cd for my camera ( olympus FE-170) so now i cant upload my pictures?
i want to upload to my new computer but it wont let me because i dont have the software. (olympus master) so where can i get one or dl it for free. please help i need to up my pictures.
also i search the website but it said there was no dl . for it
Try looking in my computer with the camera connected, many cameras just appear as a removable drive without any software.
My digital camera is malfunctioning. Its an Olympus FE-170. Can anyone help me?
My olympus FE-170 won't register on my computer. It's not the computer tho because the camera is supposed to turn on when I plug it in to the computer but it wont turn on. Also when I'm trying to zoom in on the subject to take a picture the camera will only let me zoom in 1 time if I try to zoom in anymore the camera cuts off. any1 know whats wrong with it by any chance??
I agree that it sounds as though you have two separate issues. I would follow the device driver advice given. I always make a point of using the "Safely remove hardware " feature in the task bar before removing my camera. Perhaps you did not turn the camer off before disconnecting it and that was the cause.
As far as the zoom feature, I have a sony DSC P150 and experienced the same thing. Mine went a little further in the fact that the lens was not fully retracting either. The battery was fully charged so that was not the issue though it could be in your case. Anyhow, I opened the battery compartment and on my camera there is a manual re-set button. After resetting it, the problem has subsided. There is also the possibility that it is time to replace your battery. Buying a new battery is less costly than taking it to a repair shop so I would suggest taking that route prior to taking it into a shop.
Olympus FE-170 camera-how do I put my pics on the computer?
well, when I plug it in something comes up but all I've figured out how to do is transfer them to that olypus photo gallery thing but how do I put them on my computer???????? please help me
♥
You should be able to copy your pics from the olympus gallery and paste into your computer (on the desktop or create a new folder). Another way to do it is to close the olympus master menu when it comes up when you plug in your computer or memory card. Instead, Go to My Computer, open the Drive that's assigned to your camera usb. Click Open with Windows Photo gallery. Copy the pics you want and paste into your desktop, folder or wherever you want to place it in your computer. Hope this works for you.
Is it just me, or does the Olympus FE-170 take slow pictures?
I'm not sure, if there is a setting to make the camera work faster.
But is it just me, or the camera?
I don't see a review, but if you go here and click on "Read owner opinions," you will see that a few other people had the same complaint. I guess it's not just you.

My Olympus FE-170 refuses to accept new alkaline batteries and tells me 'Battery Empty' Any ideas?
I have had similar issues with my Sony Cyber Shot. It will accept rechargeable batteries happily, but turns its nose up at Duracell, Panasonic etc ordinary batteries. Perplexingly it does take Ikea ultra cheap batteries, lol. I suggest you just try some other brands, or rechargeables.
