Where do I find the 20 digit serial number for my Olympus FE-180 digital camera (no letters in the #)?

I can't find it on the bottom of the camera, the box or the manual.
Olympus tech support is closed for the night. I was hoping to find the answer before morning.

Why don't you call Olympus and find out, they will be able to tell you where your serial number is on your digital camera.

Inside the film compartment maybe? (If you have one).

Try http://www.serials.com

Is olympus a good brand in digital cameras, What about FE-180?

I want to buy digital camera with good picture quality & going to buy Olympus FE-180, Pls advise me.

I love Olympus brand cameras. I don't know about that specific model, but I have the Olympus Stylus 720SW, and I love it! It's so small and pretty. I can easily fit it in my back pocket, but the screen is huge. It's easy to use and the pictures come out incredible. The best thing about the Olympus that I have is that it's shock proof and waterproof.

good picture quality depends on pixels think of it as one to ten one will be the worst picture quality and 10 is the best...you want to get as close to 10 mega pixels without breaking your budget. I would recommend a canon rebel.

Personally, I don't have a very good opinion about Olympus. Try Nikon (very good image quality with Nikkor lens), Sony Cybershot (if you want to record decent movies also on simple digicam). I prefer Sony because of good features (and now they come with good quality Carl Zeiss lens).

Casio cameras look good (and are expensive) but have poor image quality. Opt for Kodak or Olympus if you want to save money and are not very particular about picture quality.

Olympus is a good brand of digital cameras. In fact, a few years back it was the market leader in the compact digicam race. The leadership however was taken over eventually by Sony, Canon and Nikon.
Regarding the FE-180, you can chk out the www.steves-digicams.com site and you will find reviews of most of the good cameras produced till date. You can read the reviews and conclude if that particular camera suits you or not.

Olympus is known for producing high quality lenses for manual and digital cameras over the past few decades. I am currently shooting with an Olympus E-500 DSLR and quite frankly I am pretty impressed with olympus. but in the point and shoot arena, i have also used the fe-200 (FE-180's big bro) and very satisfied, although for over $200 pricetag i would suggest looking for a canon powershot A530 which is about $150 on your local electronics retail store. the canon has a lens that can capture more light or lets say "brighter" than the fe-180, and this is very good for capturing picture during night or indoors. the flash range is also pretty far, in about 15 feet you will be able to see your subjects lit up clearly. it is a 5 megapixel camera but this amount is already very high quality. as opposed to stephanie's comment, having a high megapixel camera is good BUT that is only if you are planning to print out your picture bigger than 16"x20". thats is big, considering the price of printing also. for regular printouts of up to 11x14, 5MP is perfect. better yet, a 3 megapixel camera can do the same thing. higher megapixel value is good when you do alot of cropping of your pictures because you can retain the detail even if it gets small, but again 5MP is more that adequate for such jobs. also, having higher megapixels on small size camera sensors (the "film" of digicams) introduces excessive noise or graining of pictures. that means that when you take a picture with a 10MP camera, unless the noise reduction technology of the camera is topnotch, you would be seeing lots of dots all over your pictures, just like how you see on tv's with bad reception. and dont forget, higher MP = higher budget. you might find the link interesting. happy shooting!!

This camera does not hav an optical viewfinder. I would choose almost any camera with an optical viewfinder over one that only has an LCD viewfinder. Why?

1. You never have the option of turning off the LCD and these things eat batteries for lunch and spit them out. Why do away with the option of a viewfinder that has zero electrical drain?

2. It can be difficult to see the image on an LCD in bright sunlight, even if they are "new and improved."

3. You have to hold an LCD viewer out at some distance in front of your face. This is more conspicuous than I prefer to be all the time.

4. The need to hold a camera at arms length will introduce some shake. I like the idea of stabilizing a camera against my face when I am taking a picture. This is especially important with a longer zoom lens. No wonder "image stablization" or "vibration reduction" is necessary with these cameras. Not that there's anything WRONG with IS or VR, but it is really a requirement with LCD viewfinders and telephoto lenses.

5. Using the LCD to view photos after you've taken them slows down the camera quite a bit. You can't shut of the LCD monitor and still take pictures if you don't have an optical viewfinder.

olympus fe 180 wont open?

i drop into some sand and now the lens wont open all the way and the camera wont turn on. must i take it to the repair store are is there a easy way to fix it.
ive replaced the batteries soo its not a batterie problem

I am very handy at repairing many things and I would not attempt it. Ask the repair shop to clean the entire camera.

ohh same thing happened to my Olympus FE230
luckily, i had the warranty and they changed the little thing in the lens. I really would'nt reccomend opening your camera, you can really destroy it with one false screw
id recommend investing in a newer camera. The repairs in my camera were 120 bucks plus shipping! but luckily, olympus picked up my tab. Id recommed looking into canons. I previously owned one and im going back to it as soon as i can. Olympus from my expience is crap. My FE230 has been in the shop four times.(only one has been my fault). THe picutre quality is bad for a 7.1 megapixel!.
if you want a long lasting one, invest in sony.. or a canon trust me. it's all worth it

Olympus FE-180???????

Does it have movie recording with sound....
PS: Its cons and pros

Yes, it does record audio, but generally, I don't think much of the Olympus compact cameras...which tend to have quite slow performance and only average photo quality.
Also, the FE-180 uses a digital image stabilizer which is not as good as Optical image stabilization.
For better image quality, fast camera operation etc...maybe you should look at Canon or Sony as much better brands.
