I have an Olympus FE-190 camera. How do I erase a picture which keeps showing a green key in the upper corner?

When i press the play button to review all pictures, I try to delete some of them and a green key in a box shows up and flashes in the upper right hand corner of the screen. What does this mean and how do i get rid of it?

It means the file is protected against deletion.

Look in the user manual to see how to unlock it.

I love to take pictures in black and white. However, on my new camera, I cannot find a place in the menu or on the program on my computer that makes the pictures black and white.
Can anyone help me?

you have to use a software like photoshop to do it

Try this:

1. Press the "Play" icon just above the LCD screen.
2. Find the photo that you would like to delete by scrolling left and right using the navigation.
3. Press the Trash icon located in the bottom right hand corner of the camera, just under the navigation.
4. A menu should pop up asking you to "Erase" Yes or No.
5. Use the navigation to highlight "Yes" and then select "OK" in the middle of the navigation.

Why won't my memory card work in my olympus fe-190 digital camera?

ok it's like this: when i fist got a 1 gb memory card for the camera it worked fine. later on though it would periodically take me to a setup menu with the options of formatting the card or turning off the power. when i would format it though it would just say card error and the camera wouldn't work unless i took the card out. then the card would do this all the time and i could never get any use out of it. i thought that maybe the card was damaged so i bought a new 512 mb card and it's doin the exact same thing and hasn't worked at all. the camera works fine without a memory card but i need space to store more pictures. am i doing something wrong, am i not inserting the card right or what? please help me if you can.

If you have tried both cards and both do the same it is the camera. Something is wrong with the card reader in the camera. you need to contact Olympus 1-888-553-4448 and they can email you all the repair info

questions on an olympus fe-190, or any digital camera with shutters on the inside?

alright so i droped my digital camera.
and the little shutters on the inside cracked and move around now.
but everything still works perfectly
how am i supposed to get them out?

still works even when you have some broken parts in there? that's pretty amazing. If I were you, I would not even try to attempt to get them out. You can't just open it up like a toaster. You'll find someting wrong with the camera as soon as you actually start using it.

i have an olympus fe-190 that stopped working. it wont let me take pics or look at pics without formatting it?

my camera started saying first "write project" and i could look at pics but not delete them or take pictures. then it wouldnt let me look at them at all now, when i turn on the camera, it just says power off or format (which would delete all my pics). it wont let me download the pics onto the computer either without formatting and losing the pics.

What are some good digital cameras? How good is the Olympus FE-190 Digital Camera?

The FE-190 is extremely easy to use. It uses an xD memory card which is one of the more expensive types of card. I've read a few reviews that say it's not very sturdy.

Canon and Sony are better. You can get the Canon SD600 on Amazon.com for around $215. The Sony W50 is in the same ballpark.

i got an Olympus fe-190 for Christmas last year and i had been carrying it to school here lately because of our sophomore memory books .. and now when i turn it on it makes a weird noise.. sort of like a boing when it tries to focus and when you take a picture its extremely blurry.... you can still go through and look at your pictures though .. but thats not really what i want in a camera. we have a one year warranty .. but if it can be fixed i would rather do that than send it back to the company.. i guess i just would like some advise as to what i should do.. i am not good at decision making

If you are having problems with the camera focusing and the lens is making noise when it comes out then it should go in for repair. The only repair centers Olympus has is in NY and CA, you can call them they can email you all the information you will need to send in, the warranty only covers manufacturers issues and they have to evaluate the camera before it becomes a warranty repair. But if you send it in and do not want fixed they will send back to you. the number is 1-888-553-4448 opt 4 and opt 4 again

I have tried to goggle it, and even get from the official website, but still can't find it.
p/s: I lost the CD which included in the package.

Are you saying you lost the CD before you loaded it on your computer?

Call the Olympus help line and see what they can do for you. Since it over a year old, my guess is it is not still under warranty and you may have to pay for the CD.
