Repair olympus FE-310 low battery fix.m4v

This video shows you how to fix your camera if it keeps showing low battery on the screen.

Should I buy the olympus fe-310 digital camera or the sony cybershot dsc S730?

I broke my camera a few weeks ago and I have to choose between the olympus fe-310 and the sony cybershot dsc S730.
Any idea's which are better?

i've got the olympus fe310 & very happy with it. there's a REALLY good site to compare cameras do a google search for steves digicams & you can get info from there before you decide. for some reason olympus reviews don't rate very highly but i've got absolutely no problems with mine at all....great pictures, low cost. simple to use. what more do you need ? happy snapping.

Olympus are much better then Sony in my opinion.
My old camera was an Olympus before I broke it and I plan on getting the fe-310 sometime soon :)

olympus is the best no dought about that but now creative came with a camera take a look at that

Where is the license number on my Olympus FE-310 digital camera?

on the olympus master 2, i want to use muvee theater, but to use it i have to enter my lisence number, and i can't find it. If anyone knows where it is, it would be a huge help! thx!
oh, and its not brand-new, i got it at the beginning of june.

either on the box by the serial number or when you open up the slot for the battery input.

Either on the bottem sticker on top of the battery input
or inside the battery input.

This sounds like the SOFTWARE license number. This is usually on a label on the sleeve or case that the software CD came in.

Did you bought it brand new? if yes you can ask to the store that gave it to you because sometimes it includes cd's that install software or maybe you have the cd and browse its content... because sometimes there are serial keys in notepad format inside the cd.

On the product tag came with your camera manual, On warenty card Ok.
Take Care n Have a Nice Day.

The Olympus muvee theaterPack is a shareware add-on for Olympus Master 2. A 15-day trial is included with recent Olympus cameras. When you purchase it you'll get a software license key that you enter to regain functionality of the software.

how do i change the shutter speed on an olympus fe-310?

how do i change the shutter speed on an olympus fe-310?
ive read through the manual but it doesn't tell you how to change it even though there is a section on it
does anyone kn ow how ot chnage it?

and also when i try to focus sometimes it takes ages for the square to go green. is there a settting to make it focus better?

You cannot manually change the shutter speed and/or aperture because the FE-310 is a point & shoot camera, meaning the camera takes full control.

However, you CAN use one of the scene modes if you want the camera to apply a different shutter speed/aperture. For instance, if you want the camera to use a faster shutter speed (to stop or freeze action), you should use the 'Sport' setting. This works best in good lighting.
Or, if you want to shoot at night (using a slow shutter speed), you will need to mount the camera on a tripod, set the delay timer and use the 'Fireworks' setting.

There is no setting to make your camera focus better (especially in very low light), because it's a limitation of your camera's auto-focus system. Making sure there is adequate light available, is the only way around it.

p.s. also check page 39 of your instruction manual, 'Shooting Tips'...Subjects That Are Difficult to Focus On.

How to view my xd card while it's in my Olympus FE-310?

After I transfer pictures from the camera to my computer they get moved to an area of the xd card and it won't show up when I try to review my pictures on the camera. Any ideas on how to be able to review the pictures on the camera even after they are transferred?
The pictures are stillon some part of either the xd card or camera since when I hook it up and the external drive shows up in my computer and then I can see the pictures there. I just can't see them on the camera itself.

Your xD card is a storage device ... like the roll of film in a 35mm camera.

When you "move" the images to your computer, that is what they do .. move. If you want to keep them on your card, then you will have to "copy" them to your computer

Does anyone know how to set a self timer for the Olympus FE-310?

If anyone could help me that would be great.

The instructions are on page 15 of the instruction manual - you can download the instruction manual for free from the Olympus support website:
http://olympusamerica.com/cpg_section/cpg_support_manuals.asp?id=1351

look for the symbol that looks like a circle with a notch in it. It's supposed to be a "timer" or stopwatch.

Huge Problem with Olympus FE-310 digital camera, please help!?

When I turn it on it either goes straight to a black screen but I know it is on because the orange "on" indication light is on or it will work like normal for about 5 seconds or until I press any button on the camera. I need it to be fixed soon but I don't even know what is wrong with it. If you can assist me in fixing my camera by telling me what is wrong with it that would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance. =)

I have no idea but Precision Camera, can give you a free price quote so you can figure out whats wrong with it and how much its gonna cost you

Please give your reviews about Olympus FE-310?

I am thinking to buy this camera but there is no Image stabilisation in it. This is my first camera. So also let me know is IS very important? else I am thinking of buying canon A590IS.
Both have almost same price. Which is better according to you?
I was thinking of buying FE 310 because it has 5x optical zoom. This is fascinating me a lot.

Here are the two cameras side by side:

http://www.dpreview.com/reviews/compare_post.asp?method=sidebyside&cameras=oly_fe310%2Ccanon_a590is&show=all

They look very similar, and both have small advantages over the other, but I would go with Canon if I were to choose between the two...

First - image stabilization is important. A longer zoom is less useful without it. After all if you can't handhold a picture at that longer end, it's not much of a use.....

Here's a short rundown on features that are distinct between two cameras:

Zoom - aside from being 4x canon has a slightly wider short end (35mm), which may be important if you're shooting in tight quarters (small room) or landscape. Although the 2mm difference is not THAT big, it is a difference.

Image stabilization - we discussed that already.

Aperture - Canon does better at wide end, Olympus at telephoto end. But with image stabilization it will compensate for it wholesomely.

Shutter - Olympus just 1/2sec. Good enough for everyday shooting, but not as good for creative work (tripod required). Canon is the winner

Manual controls - none on Olympus, at least some on Canon. Again, better for creative work.

Orientation Sensor - Oly doesn't have it. Not a biggie, but nice, especially if you use software that automatically turns your images per the camera orientation.

Size - Canon is a bit heavier and bigger if you care.

All in all, the differences are minor, if all you want is point and shoot, and are not interested in any more advanced photography, but mostly in Canon's favor. I think IS is the biggest difference, and Canon is the one that has it.

Is clicking noise standard on olympus fe-310?

I just bought the olympus fe-310 and whenever I go to take a picture or even focus the camera, it makes a clicking noise. I tried turning off all the sound settings on the camera, with no luck. Is this standard or is there something wrong with it?
The clicking noise I'm talking about is happening when you hold the shutter button down halfway to focus the camera, way before the actual "taking a picture" sound.

Not sure what noise you talk about.
There are two type of sounds you can hear:

1. The simulated click and wind sound to emulate the film camera.
2. The actual sound of moving parts inside your camera.

You can get rid of first type through the menus.
The second type - when you take a picture there are several things that move inside your camera:
A. Aperture ring closes down, unless you're shooting at max aperture.
B. Shutter closes, then opens for duration of exposure, closes again, and then opens once more to let you preview the next shot on the screen at the back of your camera.

If you have certain type of central shutter, the two may be combined (shutter and aperture ring is one and the same). Not sure about your camera. But those things all happen pretty quickly, so you probably can't distinguish the sounds, they just all add up to one click. If that's what you hear - I'm afraid you won't be able to get rid of that one other than putting a pillow around your camera and cutting small hole for the lens.

LEM.

==EDIT==
Hm.. there should not be *clicking* noise at that point as far as I can tell, however you could be hearing focusing motor noise at that point. The ones I've ever heard were more like hissing or "woooo-shoo" kind of sounds. Check your camera settings if it is set to continuous focus, though (if it does have that setting, I'm not familiar with it).

There are two ways cameras can focus when you half press the shutter button. One is to focus on whatever it is pointing at and fix it there. This way you can focus on something off-center of the frame then re-compose the shot. The continuous focus keeps adjusting focus to whatever is in the focusing window until shot is taken. It is very useful when you are photographing action like sports or kids (it may be automatically on if you put camera on sports mode).

When in continuous focusing mode, the camera will keep doing fine focus adjustments all the time for as long as shutter button is half-pressed, running that focusing motor just tiny bits (sometimes even when you don't move it, or move just so slightly), and maybe... maybe that's what you're hearing, very short bursts of focusing motor that sound like clicks?
