Does anyone have the Olympus SP-310 digital camera? ?

What batteries do you use and how long do they last? My batteries don't last very long. I have just bought a new charger with batteries.
The new batteries I have bought are 2500Mah, i charge them for as long as they need, my charger turns itself off after the correct time. My old batteries only lasted about, well less than 30 shots.

well it depends on many things... but rule of thumb says; batteries dont last forever... but make sure you check the amp-hours... some AA types are only 800... presently im using 3000 Mah they last about a 4gig memory cardfull... which is around 650 shots... ( i have an E500 8mp Olympus)

if youre using the li-on battery, and its not lasting very long, suspect theyre failing and just buy more off ebay... my genuine olympus Li on battery lasted 650 shots, and cost 70 quid... the Ebay Li on batteries only last about 450 shots, but theyre 10 quid... ( i run 4 batteries)

and yes, i can get thru 2 or 3 in a days shooting...

Olympus SP-310 won't turn on?

I have a Olympus SP-310 digital camera. I recently did a firmware update and now it will not turn on. Olympus wants $80.00 just to look at it plus the repairs and I am told it could cost as much as $300.00 to have it repaired. Is there anything I can do to fix the problem myself?

I have an Olympus SP 310 camera and i dropped it by accident (oops) so now the lens is stuck open. Everytime i turn it on it flashes "zoom error." Any ideas on how to fix it?

send it in for repairs
they charge $150
just to look at it

I'd like to have my videos, made on Olympus SP-310, made in MPEG instead of Quicktime...?

I just bought an Olympus SP-310, 7.1 Megapixels.
When making a short video and transfering it to the PC, it opens Quicktime instead of Media Player. I'm used to Media Player, and would like to have the files in the MPEG format, not another.

Is it possible to change that in the camera? or must I rename each file one by one? How? Renaming by adding ".mpg" doesn't work, it still opens with Quicktime...

Changing the file extention isn't going to do anything. If it's in MOV or MP4 format, they'll only work with Quicktime. In this case, get a video converter. If they are in MPEG, you just need to change your settings so it will open with Windows Media Player. Right click on the file, click properties, look down and it will say "Opens With: Quicktime Player". Hit the button labeled "Change". Then Click Windows Media Player, Hit OK in that window and OK in the other one. Double-click on the file and it should open with WMP.

I've got a feeling that it's in MOV format, if that's the case you'll have to get a video converter if you want to open it with Windows Media Player.

BTW, if it's in AVI format, this same procedure will work. :)

Help with my Olympus SP-310 camera....?

I got a camera last year and have seen the options and things it has online. It seems to be able to do a lot but where can I find out when to change the options and what things need to be changed for each specific picture I'm taking. I took a photography class at one time so I understand a couple terms like ISO but I don't remember when it needs to be changed or what it should be changed to depending on the picture. I looked on the maker's website and it again just told of the settings. Does anyone know where I can find a site to tell what to do with all the options and describes which situation they should be changed? Does any of that make sense?
Basically there are no problems with my camera I'm just wondering if there is a site that can teach me how to use it.

I'm not entirely familiar with your camera, and what available settings it has, but quick tips include things like Setting your ISO lower for bright light conditions, and higher for low light conditions. if your camera has an option to adjust white balance, you can try playing with that in different lighting conditions (for example, outside bright sun is going to require different white balance than indoor bright fluorescent lighting).

I just got this camera and i am trying to record with my video is this possible with this camera it has a microphone and speaker and i have been thru the setting's and dont see anything.When i record video there is no sound.

olympus sp-310 will not stay zoomed to take photo why?

when zoomed out it beeps returns to wide then allows picture to be taken. ck'd settings, new battery, has not been dropped, I do not know how to remove lens need this info also

You could try resetting the camera. Take the batteries out and hold the power button down for 20 seconds. Then put the batteries back in and see if that helps.

Olympus SP-310 help----Won't Turn On?

Recently my camera froze so I took the battery out and now it won't turn on. I plugged it into my computer and it still won't turn on. Help Please!!!!

How do you get pictures that are saved on the camera transferred to the memory card?

The camera we have is olympus sp-310. We can't find the usb cord that goes from the camera to the computer so we can't get the pictures off the camera. Is there any way to transfer the pictures on to the memory card.

Since the lenses are designed for your camera, I doubt you'll need the converter. Or it'd be part of the kit. At least should be.
