Olympus SP-510 UZ
Un resumen de las bondades y los inconvenientes que presenta la SP-510 Ultra Zoom de Olympus.

I just got an Olympus SP-510 UZ. How do I download images to Photoshop instead of program that came with It?
The camera came with a program called "Olympus Master". It's fine for what it's intended, but I want my photos in Photoshop, and I don't want to have to go through each image and transfer them one by one. Photoshop doesn't recognize the Olympus when I try to use the camera as a Twain source. Any advice or shortcuts?
Olympus Master uses the normal filing system to store the images, so you can download from the camera using that program and then access them using Photoshop. The trick is to know how you installed Olympus Master and where it is configured to store the image files. For example, on my computer the image directories are in the path C:\Documents and Settings\All Users.WINDOWS\Application Data\OLYMPUS\Camedia Master 4. Under that there are two folders - Albums and Calendar. If you store by date, the images will be in the Calendar folder in sub-folders for years, then months, then days. If you store by Album, the sub-folders will be you album names, etc.
---------------------------------------
Tom Tom is correct, you don't need Olympus Master to download your image files. However, it does make it much, much easier to develop some structure around your image library which would be more difficult otherwise. I have transferred images the other way, and while it works, it can be difficult to tell what images are where. You could use another digital asset management tool, but for amateur use, I find that Olympus Master is satisfactory.
you don't need it to download camera pics
Go to control panel/folders option/file types/ scroll to JPEG and -see details for JPEG- see opens with and chose the program you want to open with, do the same for the jpg files too.
Is Olympus SP-510 UZ a good camera?
I am looking into buying a better camera, and I already know that I want an Olympus, that has a great zoom, but I'm not sure which one to get. Is Olympus the way to go?
Does anyone know anything about the Olympus SP-510 camera?
I think it's a good camera, personally I like the Canon Rebel XTi. happy buying!
go for it
olympus sp-510 uz versus power shoty S3 IS, which is better and can is it also good for macro shooting?
S3 IS
Which is the better digital camera. Fuji Finepix S7000, Olympus SP-510 UZ, or the Canon Powershot S2?
This is going to be my first digital camera, looking for good zoom, ease of use, and longevity.
the s2 would be my choice
what do you guys think about Olympus for a point and shoot camera sp 510 uz?
The SP510 has only received average reviews.
From a review of the SP510...
"In my view the Olympus SP-510 is let down by its picture quality. There are plenty of similar super zoom cameras to choose from and to be honest I would spend my money elsewhere".
The main thing that bugs me about the SP510 (apart from it's mediocre image quality), is that it DOESN'T have optical image stabilization...instead, it relies on a digital image stabilization system that increases ISO sensitivity to maximize the shutter speed, thereby avoiding camera shake...but, by pushing up the ISO, you will also have a big problem with 'noise'.
A better choice would be the 12x optical, Canon S3 IS or the newer S5 IS...or the 12x optical Sony H2 or H5 (the H2 is marginally better, though). All these cameras feature optical image stabilization, which really is necessary when you have a 10-12x zoom.
I wouldn't recommend Panasonic due to their 'noise' issues.
good luck and check out the reviews etc. below...
read reviews on this camera before you buy it
Olympus SP-510 UZ?
I want a good name brand camera...Like this one that is not alot of money but will deliever great high quality pictures with image stability.Image stability is important to me since I want to take my bro's kids pictures and they are babies so they move alot, lol. And I want that camera for a hockey game. But I've heard on a website that this camera does not have image stability and on others that it does have it.So please help. And this camera is pretty big so if someone could help me out with a pocket size camera instead and does mostly the same thing I would love it.I really want high quality pictures because I want to keep that camera for a long time and have great pictures. Is it true that now you can have optical image stability instead of digital zoom?Which is best?
the stabilizer stops your hands from shaking
not the babies
try canon a710
go to canonusa.com
What current model olympus digital cameras use the same image stableization hardware as used in the UZ 2100?
The olypmus UZ 2100 camera has 10x optical zoom and built in image stabilaztion that works GREAT but its 2.1 megapix and a fairly old camera, what current models of olympus cameras use that same type of stabliaztion? The sp 510 uz just ups the shutter speed and doesnt do real good job like the uz 2100 does. any suggestions?
Perhaps the recently announced SP550 UZ which has sensor-shift image stabilization.

What is a great camera for digital photography?
I would love to get the Canon Digital Rebel, but it's out of my price range.
I need something that has great focus, mininum noise, great macro, and under $400.
I've been doing digital photography for over a year now, and my HP camera is slowly losing it's quality.
Cameras I've thought about:
Canon PowerShot S60
Olympus SP-510 UZ
thanks in advance!
Hmmm, the Canon Powershot S60 is now over 2 1/2 years old, so maybe you wrote down the wrong model number...and I certainly wouldn't recommend a new camera THAT old.
However, if you actually mean the Ixus 60 (SD600) then yes, it's a very popular compact camera. It's one to look at if you want a very small point & shoot camera, that also takes great photos, but is lacking full manual control (also battery life is fairly small, so you need to recharge regularly).
Anyway, from the review of the Olympus SP-510 UZ, that I have read, I can't say that I would be eager to buy it.
Here is what the review concluded...
"Pro:
Sleek, silvery design is futuristic but functional.
Comfortable handgrip
Great color, good dynamic range, and decent sharpness in images shot in adequately lit conditions
Con: Excessive noise in images shot above ISO 400
Inadequate resolution for 2.5-inch LCD
Sluggish overall performance and during picture-taking and general operations
Outdated menu system
No paper manual for advanced instruction, only CD
Only digital image stabilization for 10x zoom which increases noise and degrades quality."
The lack of Optical image stabilisation and it's very slow performance, would be enough reason to stay away from this model.
If you like Canon, then I would recommend the A630 or A640.
Or for a camera with 12x optical image stabilisation and great macro (even super macro, 0-10 cm) and shoots great 'movies, then have a look at the Canon S3 IS.
You will also need a fast memory card for top camera performance (Sandisk Ultra II or Extreme III).
Where can I buy a cheap, motorized camera mount for astrophotography?
I have an Olympus SP 510 UZ camera that will let me take exposures up to 8 minutes (bulb setting). I would love to get into astrophotography with just a digital camera and a motorized mount for tracking the stars, planets, etc.
Is there a "cheap" motorized mount you can buy (not build) that can be used just for the camera?
Make a barndoor tracker and have fun!
Mine cost me about $5 in materials. I have to turn the handle every 15 seconds. Big deal...
Will lenses made for SLR cameras fit my 55mm non SLR camera. Do SLRs have a different mount,or have threads to
I have an Olympus SP 510 UZ/ 7.1mp/10 zoom. I purchased the conversion tube to give me a 55mm thread. I seen on the internet with,Ritz.com and with,Amazon.com that there were alot of cheep prices on the SLR lenses made for different Model cameras. I plan on buying a 75mm-300mm zoom lens,so will the SLR Lenses fit my camera if it says; Accepts 55 or 58mm Filters. I know I would have to but a step-up ring, if I got a 58mm lens. Also, I have another question about Amazon.com; I seen prices for a 75-300mm Cannon SLR lens for 119.00, is this an auction site,or is there a catch to it; like a high shipping fee.
I fear we are talking about many, different realities...
The zoom lenses for SLR becoming cheap because of the digital boom. But if it says it's accepting so and so filters, that mm value goes for the FRONT of the lens, the backside is specifically fitted for the different brands - Nikon/Canon/Minolta/etc. So, unless you get a conversion ring which says "converting Olympus mount to Nikon/Canon/Minolta/etc. you will not get lucky.
And check carefully the maker of those zoom-lenses; usually, it says SOMEWHERE, that lens made "for" Nikon/Canon/Minolta/etc. not "by"...i.e. we are talking about a 3rd party supplier...
Good luck!
