Olympus SP-570 UZ Digital Camera
Body of an ultra-zoom. Soul of an SLR. With superior optics, power and portability, the SP-570 UZ provides a wealth of creative control without ...

Is the olympus sp 570 uz camera a good dslr for wildlife photography?
Yes. All these SLR like superzooms cameras are very good.
It should work well for almost all types of photography. The only thing you lack by not having a SLR is shutter speed. All point a shoots have a lag time between when you press the button and when the picture is actually taken. Although I have used this camera and it has a mode for action. Also the lag time is very small because of the use of buffers.
I think you will find it a very good and usefull camera.
Perhaps the biggest problem with that camera is that its sensor is about 15 times smaller than most real DSLR's
which Digital camera is better between Canon PowerShot S5 IS and Olympus SP 570 UZ ?
please explain me why? and when comparing cameras what to check?
Well i readed all about both cameras and i usually i would buy a Canon, but Olympus have a Great funcionally and all kind of things, but i usually recommend what you want to pay and you like it,
when is the new olympus sp 570 uz digital camera going to be available?
Amazon is taking orders now and says it ships April 15th, so maybe it was pushed back:
http://www.amazon.com/Olympus-SP-570UZ-Digital-Optical-Stabilized/dp/B0011E67VA/
The lady told me to expect it to hit the stores at the end of this week or early-mid next week. Here's hoping!
If you get one, let me know what you think.
Where to find the guide for my camera olympus sp 570 uz??
Where to learn about photography??
hope they help...
substitute for a Olympus SP-570 UZ ?
i was going to buy the Olympus SP-570 UZ but it ran out of stock... anyway, i want to ask if there is any replacement or substitute for it ? something at it's price range or even cheaper, but with the same quality and cool specs in it...
anyway, please some help :) thanks !
A Nikon Coolpix P80 would be equivalent, but in my opinion far outweighs the Olympus in quality. And it has the VR (vibration reduction) technology in the lenses which is awesome.
Check out the specs here: http://imaging.nikon.com/products/imaging/lineup/digitalcamera/coolpix/p80/index.htm
You can get this for around $400, which is less than the Olympus.
Is a Olympus SP-570-UZ 10 MP Digital Camera w/ 20x Super-Telephoto Zoom good for Astrophotography?
Should I buy the Olympus SP-570 UZ or something else?
I found a store that's selling the Olympus SP-570 UZ for $300! It seems like a great deal. But I am worried about buying a camera that requires an XD memory card. The camera does not accept SD cards and Olympus does not provide a microSD adapter for it.
I don't like XD. Olympus is the only company still pushing it now. Fuji has started to fully embrace SD. It seems that XD is going the way of the dinosaur. SD is cheaper, faster, holds a lot more data, and it's more widely available...
What are the alternatives? Would you suggest the Panasonic Lumix DMC-FZ18 instead? Do you think I am making too much of the XD requirement? I don't like Olympus forcing me to use their own proprietary card.
I was thinking of going with a DSLR, but the prices of these bridge cameras are very appealing. Thanks.
The list price on the SP-570 is $435 ... for $470 you can buy a real DSLR with AF-S 18-55 mm ED lens. Not only will you have a DSLR in your hands, but you will not have to spend good money again to replace an expensive P&S camera that has a sensor that is 15 times smaller than the DSLR.
Look on Amazon for the Nikon D40 and see what I mean.
http://www.dpreview.com/reviews/compare_post.asp?method=sidebyside&cameras=oly_sp570uz%2Cnikon_d40&show=all
You will also see that the pixels on the Nikon are much larger than the ones on any P&S camera.

And on the pixel count issue.

This should give you some good data that will help you come to a good decision on how to spend your money
I prefer to spend my money one time ... and get what I really want even if I have to wait a few months ...
manual function focus in olympus SP 570 UZ and Nikon p80?
hi,
i am planning to take a oly570, i checked the specifications in comparison to Nikon P80 both have manual focus and auto focus the latter works as designed but i could not find how to do manual focus in Nikon P80 and is it same in Oly SP570UZ . Please help me out.
i checked the specs on www.dprewiew.com
To focus the p80, press the focus mode button (flower symbol), choose MF and hit okay, press up and down to adjust focus, and then hit ok again when you're done.
what's better: oly SP-570 UZ or Oly DSLR E-510 ?
I would like to move on from my average digital camera to a move powerful system, and currently my top 2 options are these two olympus cameras:
http://www.olympusamerica.com/cpg_section/product.asp?product=1367
http://www.olympusamerica.com/cpg_section/product.asp?product=1295
which one do you think is better. I opt for the new SP-570 because of it's features and because im sure i'll never be willing to pay $1000+ for a super zoom lens for the SLR, and also because of it's speed.
but which do you guys think is better for the price? (The E-510 can actually be purchased for about $650)
Having taken photos for decades and been down the SLR/carry four lenses/plus a 3x converter/Flash/extension rings...I would now always opt for point and shoot! Have you seen the physical size of a lens that would do 500mm in a DSLR?? I don't want to carry that around much! It is no fun having to try and anticipate which lens to attach, only to have to change it 30 seconds before the shot because of the compostion. I am waiting for the SP570 to be released, this will be my third PNS...each one is more MP and I am still using my first, an olympus C-770 UZ 10x 4MP, great camera!..just remember, if all you are doing are snaps that are mostly looked at on your PC or 7x5 prints, you'll never know the difference. Being able to zoom in and not have to crop afterwards is fantastic and one single package from 28mm equiv to > 500mm has to be a great option...hope the sensor is up to it, otherwise I for one will be dissappointed...enough rambling...ciao
Is the Olympus SP-570 UZ sold in stores??
I can't find it anywhere. if it isn't does anyone know why.
feedback on the camera would also be appreciated.
Yes, it is sold in stores. Being a higher end (and higher priced) point-n-shoot, it is not necessarily carried in all locations even of chains that carry the camera.
I have seen it in both Radio Shack and J&R Music Stores (both in Manhattan), but again YMMV dependent on location.
One of the few Point and Shoot "SuperZooms" that can shoot RAW as well as JPG, the Olympus SP570 UZ is one of those cameras that is trying to blur the line between Point-N-Shoot and dSLR cameras.
Like most Olympus cameras it does better when you avoid low light situations, but the fact that it has a hot shoe which allows you to put a good quality flash on it, that is not as much of a problem as it is for most point-n-shoot cameras.
It is the most feature packed camera you can find (as far as I know) in the $400 (depending on location) price range currently available.
