What's the difference between the Olympus Stylus 1010 and 1020 digital cameras?

As far as I can tell they're exactly the same (except the 1020 is more expensive).

Both the 1010 and 1020 have a
• 2.7" / 6.9 cm
• 230,000 dots
• LCD backlight boost

The 1010 has a HyperCrystal LCD
The 1020 a HyperCrystal II LCD

Wat does anyone know about the olympus stylus 1020?

i was thinking of buying one of these only i cant tell if it has a manual mode or is able to shoot pictures in back and white. i also cant tell if it takes good photos.

This camera has gotten good reviews from at least two or three different camera specialty sites and very positive feedback from people who have bought it. Here is a link to the Specification Page for the Stylus 1020 at Olympus America.

The camera does have Black & White & Sepia monochromatic modes. I do not think it has manual setting but it does have EV exposure override of +/- 2 in 1/3 f stop increments.

I was thinking about getting the new olympus stylus 1020 but I'm not sure is it's all that good or where to get it? I live in Canada does anyone know where they're sold?

I had a chance to play with the Olympus 1020 at Camera Land in New York City. I was amazed by the panorama feature that automatically shoots and stitches the shots.

I was also told that it has a better quality LCD than the 1010. The new version (Hypercrystal 2) is much clearer in sunlight. Joel at Camera Land told me the 1020 will also come with a case and a 2 year warranty. I pre-ordered mine - it should be here in the next two weeks.

I read a number of online reviews and they all seem very positive. dp-review loved it.

I'm sure you can order one from Camera Land. I also did a G*ogle search and found a few other sources. Good luck!

can anyone differenciate between olympus stylus 1020 and 1010. and which one to prefer?

They take pictures exactly the same. The 1020 has a better LCD and comes in different colors. By the way, I read contradicting rumors about whether these cameras are waterproof or not. By the way, it looks like a decent camera. It uses a lithium ion battery and has 7X optical zoom. It also has sensor shift image stabilization.

Do the Olympus Stylus 1010/1020 have an "all weather" design?

I had an Olympus Stylus 750. It had the "all weather" design (I believe this was some special lining inside to protect the parts but I may be wrong) and was extremely durable. I took it on many rough outings and it handled very well. I was very happy with it. I am looking for a replacement camera as I no longer own the Stylus 750. I'm drawn to the Stylus 1010 or 1020. I was wondering if they would also be as durable and have the "All Weather" design of the 750?
Could you suggest a different camera with those qualities?
Which one of the other "All Weather" Stylus cameras is best?

Casio Exilim EX-Z100 vs. Olympus Stylus 1020?

I've been looking for a good camera to buy and those are the two that catch my eye the most.
But I can't figure out which one to buy...
Which one would be better?
The price difference doesn't matter, I just want to figure out which one out of those two would be the best.
Both of those cameras come out in March which will be perfect because I'm going on a vacation during April.

I have the casio exilim Z100 and it is fantastic. It has never had any problems and takes great photos, even at high speeds. You can make everything automatic if you choose, or if you want to be precise, it also lets you use manual focus/shutter speed/ISO/etc.

I would definately buy the Exilim.


But if you want to make even better photos ( and maybe get a side job for that ), you might want to think about investing into a DLSR (professional quality) camera.
Canon makes the easy to use Rebel XTi and Nikon makes a d40 that should both be worth their money

Where can I find underwater housing for an Olympus Stylus 1010?

I bought that camera like two months ago, and love it! Only problem is, it has options to shoot underwater but I can't find the underwater cover anywhere! The olympus website says it's discontinued. Guess they put out so many cameras whats new is old in no time.

Can I adjust the shutter speed on the Olympus Stylus 1010?

I found a youtube (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=J75W2xMRgVs&NR=1) video that says one can adjust the shutter speed up to 1/2000 sec, however I found the instruction booklet and I couldn't find how to adjust the shutter speed (http://www.olympusamerica.com/files/Stylus_1010_Stylus_1020_Instruction_Manual_EN.pdf).
I also played with the 1010 at the store and i couldn't figure it out. So, my question is to those of you who have the 1010. Can you adjust the shutter speed directly, and how?

No, you cannot.

There are no aperture or shutter speed priority controls on that camera ... in fact most P&S cameras are fully automatic ... you have to sort of fool the camera to get it to shoot at short or long exposures.
