My Olympus Stylus 710 digital camera keeps saying there's a memory card error. What does this mean?
I have an Olympus Stylus 710 digital camera. Everytime I turn it on, it says there's an error on my memory card. The memory card is also from Olympus, and it's 512mb. I don't understand why it's doing this, it was working just fine.
Well, nothing is perfect.. Try to format the card with the camera. It should be a menu option.
The lens will not come out on my olympus stylus 710. Why?
I have an olympus stylus 710. My camera will turn on to view photos. The battery is fully charged. However the lens will not come out. It tries but it goes back in and shuts off. Is this repairable or not? How much will it cost to repair?
happened with my kodak.
i dropped it.
and they told me it would cost about 300 to repair.
Why can't i take pictures outside with my Olympus stylus 710?
I try to take pictures outside, but the picture turns out really white. Anyone know how to fix that?
Set your camera to AUTO or use one of the scene modes. Select a negative EV if the camera is overexposing.
If you have your camera on Program mode select a lower ISO and a negative EV. Try experimenting with both spot and ESP metering.
what kind of memory card will fit my olympus stylus 710 digital camera?
i got this camera for Christmas and my parents got me a sandisk 256MB memory card. the guy at circuit city told them that it would fit my camera, but it doesn't. maybe i'm not putting it in right? or do i need another kind of memory card?
I work with the olympus digital cameras and every stylus I've ever worked on takes the XD memory card.
There are two types - XD type M is the newest, and most likely the only type you can find on store shelves. They both look exactly the same except for a small M on the front of the M type. It really shouldn't mean anything to you, but in some older digital cameras that take XD cards the type M caused some problems. Most manufacturers have corrected these problems with firmware upgrades. I don't believe you should have any problems using either type.
The XD card is very small - about the size of a penny (a little wider). The SD is longer than it is wide. These two types are often confused because of the similar name.
If your Sandisk card is Blue- it's probably and SD card. If it's black, it should fit in the camera.

My Olympus Stylus 710 digital camera's lens won't open?
I haven't dropped it or anything, it was just in my pocket.
And when i took it out i tried to turn it on, the lens comes out slightly, then closes, then opens again, then closes and then turns off?
The battery is fully charged, it's as though the lens is trying to eject but somethings stopping it.
Any ideas?
Please help as it was expensive, i'd take it back to the store where i bought it, but it was bought in America and i live in England!
Thanks :)
Repair will likely cost more than a new camera. Use this one as a paperweight and buy a new camera.
Get a case to carry it in. Pockets are usually full of dirt and lint. Some probably got into the mechanism and jammed it.
I have an olympus stylus 710 camera and i wanted to transfer some dvd that i ripped to it . the format is?
quicktime movie jpeg. I need to know a program that has this format so i can convert the videos into it. then i need to know a way to transfer the videos to the camera once they are in the right format. i tried connecting my camera to my computer using the usb that came with it and the computer detected it so thats not a problem. i also have a 1 gig xd card so it has room for at least one video. well any advice would be great thanks!
I'd have a look at Virtualdub to do the converting. It's not the easiest app to use, but it's very powerful and there's a lot of info on the web. Another possibility would be to look for apps for the Nintendo Wii. I think that uses mjpeg, though I don't know whether they'd be compatible.
As for transferring it, I'd look for other videos on the card and then drag and drop the new file into it.
i have a olympus master stylus 710 it was workin last night now today my screen is not showing the pics i take
it turns on, it takes pictures, but when i go to view them the screen is very distorted and only a little bit u can see the picture. do u know what could be wrong with it? will it be expensive to fix? Do i need to completely replace it, or is it just something minor? Thanks
the cables that connect the camera to the screen are very thin and any litlle damage will create big problems.
if the camera is old then age might have a couse in that.
this is a technical dficulty for sure.
i dont know how much u hav to pay to fix it but most camera repairs are 100$.
hope it works out 4 you
Opinion on the Olympus Stylus 710?
Hi, i was looking for a 2nd opinion other then website reviews on the olympus stylus 710. im thinking about purchasing this camera and would like some good opinions
http://www.olympusamerica.com/cpg_section/product.asp?product=1224
i was actually thinking about that canon but my friend has the same one >< and having the same cameras isn't cool lol, but yeh im not really looking for amazing quality i just want a point and shoot camera
Olympus is not a brand I would usually consider, because their photo quality and performance is usually not as good as other cameras. Also, the 710 has a poor battery life of only 180 shots, which is quite low compared to others.
Here is what one reviewer thought...
The good: High ISO sensitivity offers more flexibility in low light; captures fast action shots.
The bad: Poor image quality; mediocre performance; no manual controls; LCD washes out in bright light.
The bottom line: Despite the attraction of a weather-resistant body, the Olympus Stylus 710 falls short with disappointing performance and overprocessed images.
My suggestion...if you want better photo quality and great performance look at Canon. The ultra compact Canon SD600...or the much nicer, SD700 IS.
olympus stylus 710.....XD card problem.....?
I have an olumpus stylus 710 and i have an olympus XD 2G memory card ( type M). (that i got 5 months ago)
This morning i was taking picture and everything was working fine. Then i when to work and i put the memory card in the computer ( HP) and again everything was fine, i was able so save all my pictures.....
Then i did "safely remove hardware" and took my card out. Then when i put the card back in the camera , it said "err card" with a big exclamation point.
Like i said all my pictures are saved so it's not a big deal, but i just dont want to pay another 100$ for a card again.
Does anyone have any suggestions???
Why is it not working anymore???
And i'm going on vacation next week-end and i don't really have "extra cash" to buy a new one.....
I really need my camera!!!!
:(
Hello
Try re-formating the card. If you used it in another camera you should always reformat it. It will wipe out any stray information that could corupt your files.
