Is it possible to return an Olympus Stylus 740 digital camera to olympus (I bought it at Circuit City) ?

I bought an Olympus Stylus 740 digital camera from circuit city on July 9th. I want to return it because its performance is horrible. It is now too late to return it to circuit city. Can I return it to Olympus? How? Thanks!

Olympus Stylus 740 - shutter won't close & camera troubles?

I have an Olympus Stylus 740 and for some reason it was working perfectly until a half hour ago. The whole shutter, or the part that comes out when you turn the camera on, is stuck and will not fold back when I turn the camera off.

Also if I try to turn the camera on when it is in any other mode besides editing/viewing photos, the screen lights up and then the camera turns off again. The battery is fully powered.
Help?

Other then the LCD screen and no view finder, how do you like your camera?

Fairly noisy sensor, that disappointed me a little, but then that's what you expect for 7MP shoved into such a tiny camera. Particularly on photos taken indoors. I actually wish they would back them off to about 5MP in small cameras because the pictures then are actually better.

Flash is fairly weak but again this is because the camera is so physically small.

Optical zoom is good though.

I still think this camera compares fairly well with others in this section of the market.

Need to know what printer is compatible to Epson 740 Stylus. Cannot get printer to work.?

I do not have a disc and need to know what is compatible to Epson Stylus 740. Printer is plugged in but will not work as I cannot figure out what is a compatible printer to choose. There is not an option for the 740.

My Epson Stylus 740 is printing nothing but lines and garbled nonsense... How do I fix it?

Turn off printer, restart windows, and turn prnter back on.

it's a cancelled job coming through without the correct header info. Known issue if you've had an epson a while.

If it still does it after a reboot, uninstall and reunstall drivers to be sure. (Have printer unplugged during uninstall reinstall till installer asks you to connect)

Olympus stylus 740 or Nikon Coolpix L5?

I'm looking on getting a new camera and I'm looking at the Olympus stylus 740 and the Nikon Coolpix L5. Both have 5x optical zoom and are 7MP. They both cost about the same but which one would be the better buy?

I vote for coolpix L5

Which camera is better: Olympus Stylus 720 SW or Olympus Stylus 740?

They both have their pros and cons.
And I've read some bad reviews on both, but both have some really good reviews, so I'm just wondering if you know which camera would be better.
More specifically which camera would be better for a Disney World vacation?
I'm looking for a cmera that has good picture quality, can get wet, and takes really nice pics of fireworks.

Well, you know what I'm going to say. The Olympus Stylus 720SW. But I just wanted to mention that if you want the camera to be able to get wet the 740 may not be the best choise. It's not waterproof, only weatherproof, and the digital camera specialists at Best Buy and Staples told me that there's a big difference. I asked if a weatherproof camera would be alright to take on a Disney ride with water or to the pool. They both explained that it's only protected if it's a light rain, pretty much. Anything else can ruin the camera. They both said you could take it if you wanted to, but they certainly wouldn't recommend it. And comparing the deta and features of the two cameras on the Olympus website, the 720SW is better. The only other plus about the 740 besides the zoom is that it's a little newer. Go to a store and ask the specialist for their opinions. The 720SW is definitely the best for a Disney vacation. The Olympus Stylus 800 Digital is nice, too. More expensive, and All-Weather (not as good as waterproof, but better than weatherproof.)

Does anybody know how to widen the aperture of an Olympus Sylus 740?

I guess I'm not sure if it's possible on an Olympus Stylus 740 but it's worth a shot.
I don't know if this is possible for this camera. But if it's not, does anybody else have any tips for taking professional-looking photographs?

Your camera gives you very little manual control and you are unable select your own aperture and shutter speed.
But, you do have quite a few scene modes to choose from. Portrait mode is just one of them and it should apply a wider aperture.
For best image quality...make sure you never ever use the digital zoom function. Only use the 5x optical zoom.

Sorry, but 'Professional' looking images are probably quite difficult to achieve with the Stylus 740.
From one review I found..."Surprisingly bad optics. Only a few small areas in the frame are in focus at any time"
and..."Like its stable mate Stylus 750, the Olympus Stylus 740 has stunningly good looks, but I was disappointed in its performance. Color just seemed unnatural and I came home with far too many blurry images for a camera that has image stabilization. I really wondered if the review unit was just malfunctioning. But it wasn't a mechanical issue. The thumbnails were very blurred, even when the image itself was not. Our laboratory test shots reveal terrible problems with focus across the frame, so it wasn't just me. The Olympus Stylus 740 shows some of the worst lens performance we've seen in a modern digicam."

Good luck...and if you ever think about upgrading...(and image quality is important to you), then maybe have a look at a compact digital camera made by Canon.
