Unboxed: Sony Cybershot DSC-W300
Just got my new camera yesterday. And did the unboxing video today. It's an awesome titanium-bodied camera! Check out my blog for the review ...

Can you use a sony cybershot(DSC W300) to take pictures of the sun?
I mean is it OK if the lense faces the sun directly?
But I just used it once to directly click a pic of the sun. Will this cause damage to my camera or if only regularly done will this cause damage?
It's never a good idea to point a camera in the direction of the Sun. Doing so increases the probability of flaring and the bright backlighting casts dramatic contrast upon the scene and underexposes everything other than the Sun.. It's sure to give you aweful photos unless you have a specific purpose for the silhouette effect or you know what you're doing (flash setups, which isn't possible with the W300 anyway).
Follow-up:
Since the sensor of a point & shoot like the W300 is constantly exposed to light in order to provide a live feed to the LCD, it shouldn't be pointed at the Sun too long. It should be OK to point your camera at the sun regularly for short durations, but longer durations may cause permanent damage to the sensor.
Can The Sony Cybershot DSC-W300 Zoom While Recording, and Shoot In 13.6 MP?
I'm thinking of buying the 13.6 MP Sony Cybershot DSC-W300 so I want to know these questions.
Hi Will. Can I direct you to DPReview (dot.com) spelled out.
There you will find a review of your camera by professionals who go out and field test. I don't think you can zoom while the camera is recording... at least you can't on my Sony DSC, but I have another model... maybe things have changed. Anyway, I feel sure you will be able to find out the answer to your technical question there. It is the ACE of places to find out everything about all the digital cameras. Good luck.
which one is better the Sony Cybershot DSC- W300 Digital Camera or Canon powershot g9?
Come on guys i need more opinions not jsut 3

I like the canon better
Cybershot DSC-W300 13.6 MP 3X Zoom Digital Camera?
Anyone have this camera ? is it good?
From everything i've read its a big improvement over the dsc-w200. I neighbor of mine has one of these and he loves it, fast, easy to use, sturdy.

How do I light write / graffiti with a Sony Cybershot DSC-W300?
I've tried using the "Manual Exposure Shooting" setting so that I can adjust the shutter speed (at least I think that's what I'm doing) but it doesn't come out right. I've also tried adjusting the aperture to F8.0. I've also tried shooting at ISO3200.
What am I doing wrong?
I figured it out. You have to use a higher aperture value (F8.0) and reduce the shutter speed down to 15" or 30" NR. I did this on the "Manual" setting.
First you need to take a picture. Then you have to connect the digital camera to the computer or laptop you are using to see the picture. Load it up to a file in pictures. Open up Paint on your picture, then you get the picture and you cna light write on the picture. I hope I didn't mess up on this.
if you had a choice, would you get the sony cyber shot dsc w-300 or the sony cybershot dsc-t77?
Any experts on digital cameras? I am in the middle of deciding my camera but can't decide. The dsc-w300 got great reviews and has 13mp. the sony dsc t-77 has a higher optical zoom i believe 4x or 5x and has 10mp. Would having a higher optical zoom be better?
The optical zoom on the dsc w300 doesn't show but it does say 2x digital zoom. The focal length is 7.6mm-22.8mm (so what is the optical zoom on this one), Lens construction is 5 groups/6 elements. What does that mean? Flash Range is 8in-18 ft.
The cybershot dsc-t77 4x optical zoom: focal length is 6.18mm-24.7mm, lens construction is 10 groups/12 elements and flash range of 3in-10ft.
What is a better camera?
what would be the best buy here and worth my money.
the dsc- w300 is so much more pricier than the other.
camera experts please help me with this?
Sony W300 come with 3x optical zoom hower I would go with Sony T77.Better zoom with 3" touchscreen LCD

Which is the best suited digital camera among these three models to meet out the family requirements?
SONY CYBERSHOT DSC-W300,
SONY CYBERSHOT DSC-H50/B OR
SAMSUNG NV24 HD NV SERIES.
Check this camera. FUJIFILM - FinePix 10.0-Megapixel Digital. This is more camera for the money.
Wide-angle shooting, a 12x optical zoom and picture stabilization mode combine in this camera for exceptional shooting performance, even at a distance. Plentiful scene modes, autofocus and automatic white balance controls make this camera a snap to operate. Life time Warranty (Parts & Labor). You may be able to find it on the Internet for a lower price ($144), but be careful of the vendor.

Many of the new cameras come with only an LCD screen. Would suggest that you find one that also has an optical view finder because the LCD screen is almost impossible to see in bright sun.
Higher mega pixels may not really be the best thing to look for. It is more expensive, takes longer to process, and may not be needed unless you are making a really large picture or blowing up a small part of a picture.
The information about my camera is just to show that you don't need the biggest and best just know how to use the one you have.
My camera has 5.2 mega pixel, but I use 3 most of the time because it gives great results, is faster, and takes less memory. Also, it only has a 3 x optical zoom and 7x digital zoom. I never use the digital zoom because making pictures larger works better on the computer. This is an old camera, but everyone is impressed with the quality pictures it takes ... like magic.
Check with the Geeks in several stores and compare prices. Ask what cameras they own. Once you select a camera read all about it in the owner's manual.
The source links will show most of the cameras out there with prices and help make your digital cameras work better.
